I'm disgusted with Rihanna's new video. You don't joke with mishanding of your hostage.

That happens only because cinema has made us adjust to violence in movies.

joe.ie: visual approach from Quentin Tarantino with plenty of violence, nudity and gore on offer.

I could forgive the man-down-video cause the girl did something wrong out of short time reaction. And she regretted it.

But in this video the hence women do what they do to the hostage. And they have time to be cool and evaluate what they do. Is this what happens when women get the power?

Or are we going back to the nature (I mean to the cave era)?

agreed. the pictures are well done. clothes and makeup. also it is a good like that the women built a group to act.

yet torture of hostage? I cannot forgive it.
all the rest (blood, murder, nudity, revenge) is not my problem. My problem is to torture the third party. Or was the wife involved in her bancruptcy too?

Despite our current turmoil in the world, sometimes devastation and violence is art.

That being said I see where you're coming from and I don't think this video is art. I read her accountant messed up her funds and that the song was about that.

And when I watched it she seems to not care at all. Its strictly business at the sake of everything and when someone tries hard to act like they don't care its because they care so much. She doesn't seem to be in a very good place right now.

When I saw your post I found the video and watched it. Song isn't good anyways.

I think she is distracted by her fashion related activities.

When activities become routine, the observer notices the change in your eyes.

At least she was the director of the video. meaning she was trying something new. that gives a new stray of passion.

I'm definitely not and I liked this video, I found it to be as entertaining as I expected it to be. I usually like Rihanna's videos. I like that her style is unique and eccentric. Yes there was some violence and nudity in the video, that's nothing we haven't already seen in movies. It was also controversial but, it was fitting for the concept of the song. Besides it's Rihanna, she's nothing if not controversial which is exactly what I love about her. She does what she feels fits her style whether people agree with it or not. Also, judging by her many revealing outfits, public nudity and wild antics, she seems to love shocking people and it seems as though she has accomplished just that with this music video.

you are right. I'm a friend of censorships. but my problem is neither nudity nor general violence in the movie. The title says it "human rights".

this must be a taboo to hurt the kidnap victims.

IDK. maybe the video wants wives to check their husbands so she does not have to go through all this?

You are right. The number of times I was active on behalf of revenge is under five.

Revenge is self-administered justice. You'll automatically hate it if somebody ruins your life for something which is a small joke to you and a big deal to him. Look at rationalisations of terrorists. nothing but pure self-administered justice.

While Rihanna was busy with this revenge (for all the background frustrators she does not talk about), she lost the overview and did not see how wrong it is to torture kidnap victims.

The third parties always seem to get shafted as well, when it comes to revenge. I remember when Keyser Soze went after the mob who killed his family - In the words of Verbal Kint:

He kills their parents and their parents' friends. He burns down the houses they live in, the stores they work in. He kills people that owe them money. "

He destroyed all the people around the men who killed his family. Probably took pleasure from it, and Rhianna certainly looked like she enjoyed torturing the bitches wife as well.

Rhianna probably told the director of the vid that she wanted something "edgy" and "artsy" to fit the theme of the song. They delivered, IMO

they don't have the entire vid on YouTube, but some parts, and that link you provided, well i got the meaning.

well if you notice, she would NEVER use a woman of lower status, or even poor that would look very very bad and demeaning. And she knew it would outrage others.

the use of having to take revenge on a woman of higher social status, is kind of a "take that, you bitch," especially if the high ranking woman in question did not pay her back. If that were a poor, pathetic woman with nothing going for her, how would that look to the public? trying to take money or destroy a woman who does not have anything to give?

at least this way, alot of middle class and under middle class, poor, and underprivileged women can sort of understand. It's not right, of course but hey it's fiction.
