Today's music is mostly terrible. Please post...

...some great newer songs (past few years or so) in this thread, if you know of any! I'm talking truly memorable songs. Not some stupid-but-catchy-3-minute-POS you'll get sick of after a few listens, please.

Do you wanna know - Arctic Monkeys
Is the one I got on my profile

Yep, I commented on that in the "worst feature" thread. That's the best new song I've heard in years, so if you have more suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Any type is fine with me. I just like good music. My favorite band is Tool, though, just to give you an idea.
I can't play the 3rd one on youtube, so:

Thanks, everyone. smile Please feel free to post as many songs as you'd like, too. I'm always looking for good new music, and I'm sure others are, as well.

For those with a very open mind

Only halfway through this song and I already love it.

Cypress Hill and Beastie Boys are bar none some of the best rap groups that ever existed. They helped pioneer and make rap explode onto the scene as rock music became polarizing and unfortunately politically driven in the 1990s. Political activism was a huge reason why rock music started to die in the 90s, and rap simply filled the hole for a lot of people.
Barenaked Ladies, Spin Doctors, and Eve 6 tried to keep music fun and exciting without the "let's all hug a tree" mishmash splintered and drove lillith fair style rock movements into exile.
Personally, I have very eclectic tastes ranging from all of the aforementionef bands, to the likes of Van Halen, Boston, Rush, Fleetwood Mac and Smashing Pumpkins to Diana Krall, Chris Botti, and the late greats James Brown and Barry White.
I see a couple florence and the machine entries.
They are so damn lame.
"If the bar closes and you start falling down, I'll carry you home tonight"
Very decent representation of this totally worthless generation.
Like I said before, it's standard pearls before swine around here most of the time.
Get back to your talentless shit you call "music."

Lol @ SF
I bet you use plastic bags!

Dude, I dont get why people like stupid shit like florence and the machine and lady gaga.
Not only is their "music" (if i can really call it that) lame, the lyrics are unoriginal as hell.
Of the millions of things that can be celebrated through musical expression, these fools pick the most worthless shit to sing about.

Tool brings back memories. I love it and hate it, then love it again.
They have a brilliancy that isn't easy to do for alot of song writers. But that's probably because it is more "taboo-ish".
The Lumineers' whole album
Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone
Thanks for all the contributions so far! Don't worry about the band or artist. Just post good songs, please. smile
Keep them coming.

I have this on vinyl and CD, and you are the first girl I ever met who likes Supertramp.
Will you marry me?

mainstream music seems like garbage to me. i'm not sure if it's because ALL of it is overplayed or what.
It's almost as if there are 5 songs that get played on repeat. if there were 500x as many, then I think we'd appreciate it more. It's not bad... just severely overplayed.
Good ol grunge
