I tell people not to buy me presents and I go and buy myself the stuff I want while it's on sale with the money I saved not buying things for other people that they may not even want.
Sounds selfish but if you really think about it your saving you and your family time spent on returning gifts you don't want or need.
Besides there is no gift you can buy that an adult will really appreciate that won't break the bank anyways. Furthermore, I enjoy time with my family waaaaaaay more than the commercialized superficial exchange of Christmas presents everyone does.

I start browsing through recipe books & seeing what new things I can bring to the table (literally) cooking-wise.
When I'm in my "cooking" zone, where I'm trying to be creative & do my own thing, just leave me be!!
When I decide to go to the grocery store to get a thousand & one things (that we probably don't even need/won't even eat), just shut up & don't argue, ok?! lol
