My fave work buddy

So, we had an Aqua join our team 'bout 6 months ago.
He's generally unmotivated, un-stimulated, he spends most of his time smoking bongs out the back, taking quiet naps in his car, extended lunch breaks and faking work injuries to leave early etc but I adore him.
Generally speaking he's my fave work buddy and it's not up to me to worry about his work behavior too much, that's my Boss' job.
We always chat and we keep the convo flowing and topics are far ranging - usually Big Foot, UFOs, JFK theories and any paranormal crap we can think of. Super fun.

Anyhoo, he was telling me allllll the sordid details of his wild weekend and just casually mentioned he had Ice on the Friday night and apparently he went off his rocker the rest off the time (fighting with friends etc).
Well, I ain't real judgy generally speaking about what people do with their spare time, snort coke, drink to excess, smoke weed, steal cars, drag race- whatever I don't care- just don't expect my company while you do. Tell me all about it later if you want but I just cracked it at him on this one.
Could not believe, he said he's not addicted and he just wanted to do it cos a mate shouted or whatever but I said that was even dumber to me! The fact that you are CHOOSING to do it, at this stage you still have the GODDAM CHOICE to do it!! SURE, until you fucking DONT. THEN WHAT!!
I told him I thought he was brighter then that, and now whenever we come across each other at work he has puppy dog eyes but he avoids extended talk...

what is the point of the topic? that you like your drug addict co worker? that's it?

i feel super strongly emotional, and very passionate about this. that's all. ive had one glass of wine tonight after dinner and that's it. I dont really care about drugs/alcohol and abuse it. I already know what it's like when i see a loved one on severe addiction.

My Cappy partner has been in a rehab for two and a half years due to drug and alcohol addiction. We attend couple therapy and of course weekly, sometimes daily meetings.
I thank God every day we have found a system and a way of life that keeps him sober and us together...

I made it really clear to him that I thought it was the stupidest decision he could make as far as I was concerned.

My uncle is an alcoholic, my father was a physically abusive drunk and my aunt is killing herself with Zanax... Soooo...

Wagtail, I think your Aquarius friend seem severely depressed and demotivated.The demotivated Aquarians are risk takers and love to push the boundaries.The mature and evolved ones don't need to put drugs and alcohol in their body to deal with life issues.I have never been addicted or involved in substance abuse.And I think lot of people do it under peer pressure.I was never the one to follow someone blindly.I learnt to say no very early in life. As for me, I had a pill or two 2 days ago. Prior to that I had a tab 4 months ago. Weed maybe even longer than that. I experimented with them heaps in my college days and I don't miss being head fucked. Feels great while you're on them, I could just never bring myself to do it regularly tbh.

Just to pull you up on this, I will say yes there are people out there like that. I'm one of them. I don't think it's funny but luckily because I was purely experimenting, I did all my research before taking the said drugs to make sure I know my limits and not to overdose, within the confines of my on house and room, with responsible friends that can look after me when things go bad.

And this is also the post where you started to think wagtail's idea is to pin us Aquas and that she thinks drugs and dying are connected and hilarious. These are all details that you've made up.

would she really write that?? knowing she had gone thruogh hell with her aunt on zanex or whatever drug addiction, and she didnt ask them, "Are you bored?? is it stimulation?"

So you are completely taking her experience away from her? And here you are tearing away at her.

How are Aquarius motivated to take drugs? I gave her my opinion of how I deal with it. If you really want to dissect the sentence it is a very general question directed at us and not meant as a stab. I have loved ones die to addiction, not just of the drug kind, I've had loved ones die to fires, crashes as well if we want to get into that.

But honestly to me it's not of importance because it's not what is being addressed here. Do we know that her aqua friend is depressed? No. Is he even related to half the shit you are talking about. No. Why are you connecting things that aren't here and crucifying her for it.

Protecting is too strong of a word.

well if he couldnt believe he was addicted then you knew he was in later posts. i am confused at you, infact, confused at your posting here about people who are addicts, and saying you don't care what they do with their time, yet call him your favorite.

you did not tell us until later that you know about addiction through your family members until after.

I choose to do drugs, knowing full well of it's effects. I think you're still missing the point she's open about what she thinks about drugs which isn't connected with her genuine curiosity about how Aquarius approach drugs. Unless there's very specific ties in with what she thinks and what she knows about this new friend of hers how can you even suggest she finds drug addiction funny and even IF her new friend is actually addicted to drugs.

On that note it's also proven by science some of the harshest drugs at the moment that is widely available to Australians are actually not all that addictive.

Lisabeth please look at my posts from two years ago, I brought my Cappies addiction issues to the Cap board and got some great advice from truecap, djbuck, and a few others...this isn't something I just pulled out of the blue.
This is not made up.

There was a Pisces gent who left DXP just as I joined and I miss him. He had been sober for a little while and understood a lot of things about alcoholism etc and made sure to message me support.
I was pretty at sea at the time and it was a nice gesture from a complete stranger online. So you win some, you lose some- I've never been sworn at or abused on here before so this is a bit surreal and I have made some good friends here so I won't focus on the anger in this thread too much.
I'm still glad I posted, at least a couple of people managed to respond and tried to have a discussion with me about this and I appreciate that too.
