lady_M is right. We have to know you and respect you. And if we know you, we respect you, most of the time.

The first post, "You are stupid." Yep. I really do feel like punching that person in the face but....I respect him or her.

If it's someone I don't know and respect, I just smile or laugh.

But you'd think, the people you know and respect...they know you and love you by showing patience and understanding....I love them because of who they are, not because of what they can or cannot do. So when they tell us an insult like "You are stupid" or "You can't..." What does that tell us? Someone we respect, doesn't care to respect us back. They just unwittingly insult us without a care for what we might be going through. As if life with us didn't matter. As if our existence isn't worth anything. "I'm...stupid?" "Then why do you talk to me?" How could we say that back to someone we respect?

We can't take it if we respect you. It hurts deeply.

And another thing:

We would like to be loved back by the people we love. If they say we're stupid.... then we love someone who doesn't love us back in return, someone who has given up on us by saying "You can't..."

How are we even suppose to take that?
