Hi all

Since my younger years i knew i wanted to become a soldier. The urge to join the army is still growing every day. especially if you take a good look at the world.

It isn't a safe place anymore. almost every country in the world has Nuclear Weapons.65000 children died in 1986 by a accident in Chernobyl ......

China, South America and Great Brittain even admitted to the world the have Nuclear power. So i'm planning to join the army when i'm finished with my study Tourism wich will be within 1,5 year from now.

But when i planned to join the army ... i didn't think of having a girlfriend who worries her head off if i might get wounded during my job.

That's the situation now ... my girlfriend ( Also Aries 🙂 ) doesn't want me to join the army and be sended out to Afghanistan or Uruzgan. And i can't relief her in this since 2 Dutch Soldiers died recently ( one was 20 , the other 44 years old ).

What do you people think...

I think that if you spend long enough in your country's Army, you should look for work with a private military/security company as a contractor. Big $ $ $ to be made. American security contractors working in Iraq and Afghanistan make at least $ 100,000 a year with long vacations, typically 9 weeks/months on and 3 weeks/months off. I don't know if the Netherlands has any private security companies, but the UK has a few.

Yep that totally sucks if your involved with someone going off to Iraq or any of the troubled regions..I too have a love for military but I value my life above everything else so I would never increase my chances of being killed..however I am involved with an Aries who will be doing this very shortly...it totally sucks..he is fully aware of my feelings towards this..I AM NOT HAPPY..but if he wants to do it, I can't stop him..I am not going to go on about it..he is visiting me in 4 months so I will know more then..and guess can try and make him see sense..but its not fair really..its not a permanent thing for him so there is light at the end of the tunnel..guess it depends on whether I am prepared to wait that long..

::just when you think you've finally met the one, life throws a fucking spanner in the works::

Sigh..

"she rather not talk about it otherwise she starts crying."

I am EXACTLY the same..I wouldn't cry..I would just be really hurt..that deep hurt..its more painful than crying which would help cos its out of the system then..When I am deeply hurt, i can't cry..so now he doesn't mention the name of the place he's going to..he just says "when I go wherever I am going"...

But it would be interesting to know what you think in all this..how do you feel towards her? do you expect her to wait for you? do you still want her to love you although your all those miles away?

My girlfriend and i were " coupled " thanks to friends. that happened 2 years ago and it didn't work cuz those friends kept minding our business.

Since then we are still friends. We even growed from friends to " Brother and Sister". It's weird but we understand eachother VERY WELL. Althou we are both Aries, we haven't had any fight yet ( within 2 years 🙂 ). 3 weeks ago i was at her home and we heard : John Legend - (PDA ) We just don't care.

It's about going to the park. so i asked her @ 23:00 to take a walk in the park. We talked bout our friendship. And since that night we're having a relationship.

i know, 3 weeks is NOTHING...... but i feel so close to her that it feels like i have been in a relation with her since i knew her....

I hope for her that she can wait for me till i'm back.

Awww thats so cute...I hope it works out for you..must be hard for both..but well if its something you MUST do then she won't stop you..

Well i've been friends with mine for 4 months..but always with an intention of getting together..then finally met (he doesn't live in the UK) and now are in a relationship..have been for 2 months..I know its early days but you just know when its right..totally adore each other..but now this army thing..I am prepared to wait seeing as its not permanent but it doesn't make it any easier..he's coming to see me in 4 months time so will speak to him more then..and I guess time will tell..I just wanted to know what you Aries are thinking. I know you would never ask anyone to wait around cos you deem it unfair..but as long as we know what your REALLY thinking..i.e. you hope she waits for you etc..

Sigh...

So not fair

I really like my gf, but i can't stand the things that happen
in the world nowaday's. i have talked with her about it yesterday night. She
cried about it. She even wanted to hit that Scorpio guy with a stick some days ago cuz he started talking about the Army.

I haven't really asked to wait for me. i want the best for her. Told her
that if she finds someone better than me, she should go to him.

it sounds weird but i don't see a future with her together.......
And i live by the day.

Yep its all very well going out there and saving/conquering the world...but I don't think many consider the psychological implications of it. And like Solitas said, difficult to get out of that mindset..depends on what kind of mindset you go in with actually...if your a strong character to begin with, I doubt you will have issues in the aftermath..but it breaks even the toughest...so...

So what makes you think your going to change it/make a difference? if so, how are you going to change it? millions have come and gone trying to change it..has it changed? like fuck has it changed..what are we expecting the world to be like exactly? meadows with fluffy bunnies running around all in harmony...thats what drugs were created for..hallucinations..lol..the world is a fucked up place, has been for centuries...it will just evolve into whatever...I don't care enough to change it...I care about my existence in it..to make it a happy one..

Solitas, i understand your objective point. Of course it will change me, but I'm not afraid of it.

I'm not asking for my gf to stay loyal. as i said: if she finds someone better, i'll let her go for it. i'm wishing her the best. better than waiting for me and getting a phone call i'm dead while she wasted several years of her young live waiting for me.

I want to change the world, yes. This because i don't want to live a average live like everyone does.......

"I want to change the world, yes. This because i don't want to live a average live like everyone does......."

Not everyone lives an average existence...there are ways and means of making the world a better place..how about feeding the poor, going to 3rd world countries and helping rebuild communities, schools, feeding the poor, rebuilding wrecked homes/lives....thats my idea of making the world a bearable place...

It annoys me when people start thinking of the impossible rather than the achievable..

So why start something you can't finish?....and fwiw..when you really love someone, the worst thing you can possibly hear is "if you find someone better, i am not going to stop you"...like thats going to solve anything.."

Lol..ok rant over..

Then you can't love her enough....you said yourself you can't see yourself spending the rest of your life with her....besides, your still very young so I guess you will meet many others along the way...who knows, probably someone in the army even!..

I understand you've made your choice about the army..so theres nothing that can stop you...believe me, as a Scorpio I totally know what the feels like..once I have made up my mind, hell has more chance of freezing over than me changing it...but all within reason...everything in my life has a beginning and a conclusion, a purpose..I never start anything I don't aim to finish. I find it pointless..so if I have chosen to make someone a part of my life...i've thought about it long and hard and whatever I do, will include them always.

Best of luck with whatever you do. I am just watching the news and I see pictures of starving children in Iraq..where supplies have been sent but are not being distributed to these starving children, instead being sold off on the black market...how tragic..truly a sad state of affairs...During my sabatical sometime in the future, I have made a pact to register for the VSO project..get involved in and fund the building of a school for kids to be educated..

"i wanted to be a S.E.A.L. too."

Supposedly BUD/S training is generally tougher than the actual operations that SEALS typically get in. Do you think you can handle having 4-5 hours of sleep total over an entire week while doing excessively strenuous excersize to prevent hypothermia during Hell Week?

You say you don't like being ordered around, that you don't like killing people who didn't piss you off at first, and seemed interested in serving in a Special Operations Force like the SEALS, so may I recommend you try to go for the Army Special Forces aka "Green Berets?" Since they're diplomats first and soldiers second, they prefer to win hearts and minds and engage in combat only as a last resort. Since they are trained so extensively, they are more autonomous than other military forces. Their specialty is training and raising a militia made up of local indiginous people in their area of operations.

Personally I'd like to become a Ranger, or at least a vanilla paratrooper. I'd rather parachute in than march or be driven in. The Rangers are the US Army's elite shock troops and are trained to hit hard and move fast. I call them the Army's Attack Dogs. Rangers lead the way, and Special Forces turn the tide.

my former boyfriend was and still is a soldier in the dutch army, it very much depends on what job you choose to do. he has to do with communication in the widest sense and the likeliness that he ever has to go to afghanistan or other dangerous places is slim to none. he was lucky, he studied in enschede which is close to the german border and got stationed at the german/netherlands corps in m?nster, which is only about 60km away from enschede. so he has all the advantages that you have being stationed in a foreign country, but still lives close to his family and friends.
on the other hand, i've seen ppl (i work at the german/netherlands corps as a civillian) being sent to war whose wives were pregnant and were scared to death...both the wives and the usually very young soldier husbands.

Tubeline, i'm from Utrecht 🙂.

I like communication ( work at a radiostation ) but i prefer going on the battlefield. I't easy for me to deal with killing and the death. Maybe it's cuz i live on a farm ...

Weird dat Geminis are in the Army ..... maybe they're only there to negociate with the enemy when it get's that far. It's not hard to imagine that there are Scorpio's and Aries people there where you work. Both like action 🙂.
