built to better show up in the moms eyes did she halt the karma being passed down.

I get that ALL of astrology is essentially karma.. so this has to have some part in it. I just get curious about how specific things could be passed down to you. I'm still wrestling with the fact that my whole family has their moon in the 12th house (grandma, uncles, mom, me and I think my brother too) So we have a history of mothers being unavailable in one sense or another (thats how it plays out for me) . I look at these things and wonder, how can I slow my family cycle of karma? Should I even care? Will I ever even know if the way I'm thinking about this IS or ISN'T how it works?

Anyway, this is my brain on marijuana.

Please challenge me on this. I want to hear your experiences.. have you had these thoughts?

both my parents have hades moons, we're all lifepath 7's, and they are ox in year while i am ox in the day.

That is interesting! What do you think about it?
Well and I think another point I'd like to make is that karma is created/perpetuated differently for everyone and every family, but I guess I'm wondering if you've seen any direct links to what you think might be negative karma in your family history.

inherited traits can be found sure. like my dad has 4 personal planets in sag and i have sun trine jupiter... and sun represents the father but IDK if that's karma.

like a curse? yeah my relatives often say that about their relationships but 3 of them are pisces, aries, taurus with venus in aries. then i think the other 2 are sag and libra with venus in scorpio. i have no explanation for my gem cousin with venus in taurus though!

ascendant wise i inherited mine from my grandpa but we're the only 2 with it.

The family dynamic kind of fascinates me. Who gets along, who doesn't, who's learning lessons from who most consciously, all that jazz.

you can see that in the natal though you don't need to compare charts of family members and do synastry with them. it's all there. i'm just not that well versed in it myself but the professional readings i've had showed me.

I think I know what you mean..like how the moon is the mother or the feminine energy in your life and Saturn is the father or father energy?
I see some truth in that. It very well may all be there, I am just not far enough a long in my understanding to be able to see it fully.
I have lots of eighth house planets and I swear on my life when I have my period I feel like I'm being punished for being a whore in a past life. Haha. I feel my karmic debt every day like a fifty pound weight.

i think it's possible to see up to grandparents coz your parents are represented by a house then you just count further to see their own parent's house but i don't think that's what the professional astrologer did. i think it was just aspects between planets.

turtleluck has a chart that shows which gender you get along with more but it's chinese system.

I do! My first lord is in the eighth house which is supposed to be a malefic influence and I can feel it most strongly when I'm on my period. : )

Are you saying your mother built up karma for you in her life before you were born or are you referring to even up to and including after someone is born when talking about karma? (Which in some ways is more dharma than karma but that's not important).

I'm trying to understand the window of time you're referring to

Well they have to overlap somewhat.. You aren't exactly in control of your life as a child. I suppose I'm referring to both. Now, I'm not saying there arent any other contributing influences to your rising sign after you are born but I think they are more like reinforcers considering we are born into your rising and they're are bound to be other things that help it manifest other than my mom's karma. But ultimately I'm her child so her karma/dharma is going to show up in me and I just wonder if in my case it revolves around communication.. I have a 3rd house stellium in capricorn with mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus.

With my friends case it's definitely showing up differently but.... The more I explain this the more I feel like what I'm saying is totally obvious and maybe there's nothing to actually discuss..

I guess I'm just interested in karma and how it plays out with astrology for everyone else. And how consciously using astrology could clear some of that karmic cycle..
But I guess that kind of IS the best reason to be aware of astrology right? .... I just want to discuss this since I have no one else to talk to about it.

Ok. Personally speaking, I think New or Full Moon immediately before birth is the most solid ground in terms of early influences on relationship between mother and myself (and anyone in general). It factors as a major influence in the direction of someone's life in terms of "fate" but also umbilical connection to the mother where the Moon is at peak influence over both mother and child. (Rising does also factor into this calling too).

I know other karmic indicators are usually the nodes of the Moon but I find them to be overrated. Either way I tend to look at the Moon or Moon's nodes for this.

Interesting... Well I checked into it and I'm born 3 days before a new moon and my mom is born on a full moon, however my brother is born like a week before a new moon. So I don't know how exact it has to be but my brother seems to actually be experiencing much harder karma than I am. Or maybe I just handle mine better. Interesting concept though, thanks for the input.

No problem. It's the part of Hyleg in someone's chart.

It's found with POH = Rising + ( New/Full Moon before birth - natal Moon)

The house and sign it falls in tends to match the overall fated theme of the person's direction.

How did you find this info? It seems like you've been studying a long time.

It seems like I've been giving up on astrology more times than I can count, too Tongue

Most of it is vague and inconclusive to me.

But the Arabic parts were the first time I understood how to see a chart in terms of fate (the internal parts of the chart) and free will (the planets). And I like the fated side.

That's all the part of the Hyleg is, one of the 100+ Arabic Parts.

Most of them are calculated for you on astro.com when you use the "Astrodient + Arabic Points" web style chart from the options.

the part of Hyleg won't be because it needs the new/full moon before birth, which you can find using the Ephemeris for the year you were born.

I can already see what you are referring to as far as losing hope with it. There is only so much you can address with free will and although it can be endlessly insightful it can also leave you with more questions. I really like looking at astrology on a grand scale, like thinking about where humanity is heading and whatnot but there is still a lot for me to learn. I can get caught up in the trivial parts of astrology though and I've had to remind myself of how to just be in the moment and truly not allow myself to constantly draw astrological parallels that offer no significance on the course of events anyway. I still enjoy it, I see a lot of jaded people on this website and I just hope I never take anything personally enough to become jaded.

I just started using astro. Com so I'll play with that stuff.
Out of curiosity hands you ever read /watched info on astrotheology? Really interesting stuff but I still take it with a grain of salt.
Posted by tiziani
Yep, as much as I can give credit to this place for meeting some characters I'll never forget, it is the graveyard of relationships. It's tempting to give into the idea that we can use astro to control situations, protect against getting burnt, etc... and I think that's where we start to get lost in the superficial side of astrology sites and start to confuse fate with free will.

It's only after years of giving up that I found the right areas in astrology that work for me. I tend to ask too many questions so it was refreshing to find areas that opened my mind to just listening and observing rather than reasoning (for me it was progressions first and foremost that did this, but it's different for everyone). The fated side is very black-and-white: it's either someone does relate to it (because progressions and arabic parts, horary - they are all intensely personal subjects to the chart holder and not universal or social at all) or they don't relate to it at all. And I like that, it's led to some unforgettable conversations and encounters.

Where humanity is headed... sounds like the Arrow of Time in my head.

What is astrotheology? I don't think I've come across that, I'll look it up.

And that's my cue to dive into Progressions. I've been having vague thoughts about what Progressions might be lately, but haven't looked into it. I try to use my mind before the Internet just to see if I'm on the right track, conceptually. Anyway the thought of Progressions has been in my head for a few days recently, I think that will be the next area I look into, I'm wrapping up composite charts right now, enough to move onto something else anyway.

I think the easiest way to a realistic approach, for me at least is remembering that earth is a school and we are merge to learn lessons and if you have all the answers then it wouldn't be a test. (big Dolores Cannon fan here) I like that though, it forces me to surrender to higher forces; even with the guidance astrology can provide we cannot cheat fate.
Is Arrow of Time a book?
Lastly, I heard about Astrotheology on YouTube... Admittedly the guy on the video is a bit scattered but in any case if you have the patience to skip around through it then I think you'll find it interesting at least.

If you ever look up the Arrow of Time, and I remember @aquasnoz had a good video on it that I lost in my bookmarks, it's mostly cosmologists that like to talk about that concept. They like to frame it within the context of science. There was a video where they drop a torch down a dark corridor, simply showing we have no concept of measuring time without space (the light that illuminates the corridor as the torch drops - to see how long it takes the torch to finish falling).

And it's funny because in the most ancient of astrology texts that go back to progressions, parts and how the houses are divided up and linked to one another - it is all based on the same thing. The principles of light and the unity of light. That's getting into esoteric astrology. But it all comes back to the same topics discussed in different circles/trades.

I will most definitely look into it, I love that kind of stuff. It's so easy to make connections in my head when seeing information, especially of that nature, and I know when I'm hearing profound concepts. I love it! It's like the potential implications are so easy to see and so needless to say hearing stuff like that just sets me off for days on a web of thoughts.
Ever read into Alchemy? It's one of my favorite topics and I just see the overlap with astrology so well. I had a whole trip on it earlier this year when I started reading The Emerald Tablets"... I'm just high enough to get on my soap box buuuut I'll spare you of my Gemini Mars topic changing ass.
my dad is life path 6, and so am I. my mother is life path 8. my little brother is also life path 6.

me: Scorpio sun/Mercury/Pluto, Virgo moon, LIBRA ascendant (important later), Scorpio Venus (0 degrees!), Sag Mars (0 degrees), Libra Jupiter, aqua Saturn, cap Uranus/Neptune.

brother: Libra sun/Merc, Pisces moon, Leo Venus, Sag Mars/Pluto, Taurus Jupiter/Saturn, Aquarius Uranus/Neptune, Capricorn ascendant

dad: Aqua sun/merc/Venus/Jupiter/Saturn, Virgo moon/Pluto, Capricorn Mars, Leo Uranus, Scorpio Neptune

mother: Libra sun, Taurus moon/Jupiter, Virgo merc/Uranus/Pluto, Leo Venus/Mars, Aquarius Saturn, Scorpio Neptune

I don't know either of my parents ascendants unfortunately. my father is very talkative, and my mother is very shy and soft-spoken.
I very much believe that I was not a Libra ascendant on accident. I behave very much like a Libra, most likely due to my air family raising. I was raised and taught by air sign standards and understandings. air is my second dominant element next to water.

my brother and I both have a sag Mars as well which is interesting to me. I have a Virgo moon like my father. Aquarius Saturn like my father too (and his dominant Aquarius placements)

from what I read last night, they seem related. The esoteric side is specifically looking at light rays of a planet, the nature of its light and internal energy.

you just need to look at the ephemeris to find the new or full moon on the date closest your birthday before you were born, then use the equation in this thread.

And the equation would use the degrees of those correct?

correct. My bad, degenerate ingenue, small oversight on my part.

It saves you time if you're converting them into 360 degrees of the zodiac while finding the parts.

let's say you have a chart holder who is:

Libra Rising at 3 degrees

Full Moon happened at 10 degrees Capricorn right before their birthday

They were born with a natal Moon at 2 degrees Aquarius

Libra starts 180 degrees into the zodiac. You know that 3degLib = the 183rd degree of the zodiac wheel.

10deg Capricorn = 280 degrees

2deg Aquarius = 302 degrees.

Part of the Hyleg = 183 + ( 280 - 302 )

= 183 - 22 = 161 degrees

convert that back and you know the person's POH is at 11 degrees in Virgo. Ruled my Mercury.

Their meaning of life is fated according to the life experiences they understand through their natal Mercury and their transits and progressions in their Virgo house.

not everyone has the same experience with Mercury. So it's always best to talk with them over what's happened in their life so far to understand what memories and experiences have coloured their understanding if communication and the way they like to go about seeking new information (Mercury).

Interesting... I am 79 degrees if I did it right.... Gemini, also ruled by Mercury.
Full moon before my bday: Oct 30 1993- Taurus 7 degrees- 37
Natal moon Virgo 15 degrees - 165
Libra ascendant 27 degrees - 207
207 + (37-165) = 207 - 128 = 79 ?

Interesting. So my meaning of life is kind of about communication. My Vertex is in Gemini too...which is also apparently somewhat a symbol of life-meaning/"third ascendant" as they call it on some sites. Interesting.

my dad is life path 6, and so am I. my mother is life path 8. my little brother is also life path 6.

me: Scorpio sun/Mercury/Pluto, Virgo moon, LIBRA ascendant (important later), Scorpio Venus (0 degrees!), Sag Mars (0 degrees), Libra Jupiter, aqua Saturn, cap Uranus/Neptune.

brother: Libra sun/Merc, Pisces moon, Leo Venus, Sag Mars/Pluto, Taurus Jupiter/Saturn, Aquarius Uranus/Neptune, Capricorn ascendant

dad: Aqua sun/merc/Venus/Jupiter/Saturn, Virgo moon/Pluto, Capricorn Mars, Leo Uranus, Scorpio Neptune

mother: Libra sun, Taurus moon/Jupiter, Virgo merc/Uranus/Pluto, Leo Venus/Mars, Aquarius Saturn, Scorpio Neptune

I don't know either of my parents ascendants unfortunately. my father is very talkative, and my mother is very shy and soft-spoken.

I have heard numerology is best used to describe past life energies, I know it's a broad subject matter and I know bus and pieces but I bet there's some juicy stuff to drive into regarding family karma. But also weird, my mom is a libra sun, taurus moon but she's a rising gem.
But as far as sharing signs with family I tend to regard he signs shared in the same sign and house as most likely family karma, like my 12 house moon situation. So you share any commonalities with planets in the houses?

That's interesting! Haha I wish I knew my moms ascendant!

In regards to houses, my Virgo moon is in the 11th house, ruled by Aquarius. My father is an Aquarius. Sadly since I don't know either of my parents birth times I don't know their house placements. I personally have a lot of first house planets. My brother also has a few: Neptune, Uranus, Moon, South node. I have: Venus, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, and Pluto on the cusp. My brother has an EIGHTH house sun (ruled by Scorpio) and Mercury. I am a Scorpio (interesting correlation I guess). My brother also has a Scorpio MC. I have a Leo MC. My mother has a Leo Venus/Mars. My brother has a Leo Venus.

See now that's intriguing stuff. Thanks for the vid. I should leave this thread because once those ideas set off in my head I lose track of my day entirely lol

but what he said about the work we have to do in matching up the macro world to the micro world is intriguing. Essentially dark matter, everything we cannot see. It feeds into this novelka I'm writing about soul mates and mirrored relatiobships.

he has a TED talk where he talks further about entropy and the Universe continually expanding.

of course, psychologists would say because he works in a line of work where a lot of his payday is based on making predictions then of course he would be prone to believing in "one story". A narrative to make it all make sense. Men are psychologically and culturally more geared to reinforce the bias of their beliefs. So does anyone working on "discovery" in general. It's how the mnd copes with wandering into new space. I got into astrology because I had a background in screenwriting and so it was easy to see the parallels with mythology and symbolism.

this need for storytelling is essentially what the 9th House and Sagittarius is all about. The undiscovered country.

I'll probably watch it again a few times because It takes me a minute to fully absorb information that has so many implications.
Yes I know what you are saying, like confirmation bias. I think that really is a depressing way to interpret new information because you aren't trusting people. I understand that certain kinds of information can be manipulated by a person's ulterior motives, maybe that is money... But have faith in humanity a little bit when considering these things! People aren't always trying to discover/prove/explain something in vain. I'm not talking to you Tiziani lol of course you are open minded and see what I'm getting at.
Screenwriting eh? I love an imaginative mind. That's pretty interesting (puts into box of facts about Tiziani for later reference and consideration).
I'm always ready to indulge in this type of conversation so don't hold back, as a Sagittarius i believe I understand

I'd like to change your life by hopefully being the first person to introduce you to The Resonance Project. Quantum physicist Nassim Haramein made a documentary that is absolutely mind blowing to me. It's called Black Whole. Just trust me and go buy it as an early Christmas gift to yourself.

It's a fine line balancing both sides of the mind. The storytelling side pushes our limits, it's the romantic side. I give a lot of credit to it personally. Only when we become satisfied with those limits we give into dogmatic belief and the romance is dead in spite of itself. As long as we never lose the self-awareness to back up our story with the "wider view" of collective reasoning then it's cool. It's a walking tightrope.

To bring it back full circle though, because I derailed your topic on a tangent, yes the Rising perspective of yours makes sense to me.

In the parts, the difference of the two values is virtually always projected from the Rising in every part.

Even in the POH, all "Rising - (N/F Moon - natal Moon") is getting at is "we spend our lives trying to make up the difference between what we want and what our parents wanted us to be (N/F Moon - natal Moon) but only in the terms from which we see this (Rising)".

It's slightly Freudian, in fact more Jungian since both Jung and astrology are willing to believe our parental influences start before birth, at the height of our connection umbilically to the mother.

The Rising factors in heavily.

Thank you for your valuable information smile

I'd really like if one day we could find out whether conception has an effect on the baby, too. Like if it was through rape, the child might have issues with intimacy. If the act between both parents was loving and consensual, there likely would be a huge difference.

I think it's definitely a possibility. I wouldn't doubt that some cortisol is getting into the baby during conception and that is bound to do something that shows up in the childs chart.

My mother and grandmother are both Gemini Sun and Scorpio Moon, even though my mother was adopted. On top of that, the three of us have Virgo Rising. To say the least, the behavior is perfectly well put-together in public, not at home.

For myself, I am organized, bookish, a writer, and definitely neurotic.

That totally supports what I think about the rising. Perfect smile

What house is your mars in? Not the sign, the house. Whatever house your mars sign is in, because you are a scorpio rising, is the lord of your ascendant or the ruler of your ascendant....

@degenerate_ingenue

That all adds up to me. Remember Mercury can be interpreted in many contexts. In the astrology context, yes it's communication, learning, fact finding and close quarters information.

Mythologically, it can also simply be the tale of Hermes. And the story of the risk in flying too close to the Sun.

Themes around Mercury: Writing, communication, transport, books, letters, messages, questions, buying and selling, contracts, bargaining, trips, travels, neighbors, literary or intellectual activity, young people, students, office workers, secretaries, salespersons, tradespersons, tricksters.

(also depends on the sign of your Mercury planet).

And keep in mind the themes around the area of life in your Gemini house.

It's all up to you to match up your experience with what you find in these themes that fits. Experience is always more valuable than anything a person is "forecasted" to become on paper. I'm sure we've both said that many times before.

Mine life's calling is ruled by my Mars. aka boundaries. Since the early 20s or so, I've always been writing about identity and boundaries for other people.

so another question. my Mercury is in Scorpio in the first house... Gemini is my 8th house the cusp begins in Taurus but the majority of my eighth house is in Gemini, where only my south node and vertex lie (in Gemini). and another asteroid...can't remember it's name though. Scorpio is a recurring theme, Mercury and 8th house being mostly Gemini. what would that mean? I am a communications major oddly enough (and psychology), but what I really enjoy is writing poetry.

you're always teaching me something new and interesting Big Grin
