Navigating through transits

Rather than look in hindsight and say, "oh that makes sense," I've been interested in learning how to take make the most out of transiting planets and their aspects. Any information about this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I suppose I am more interested in understanding how transits work overall rather than just how they effect me personally. It seems they lend energies that assist in shifting and moving somewhat crystalized aspects of one's life.
