Am I trapped in the 1990's?

My friend actually made a comment on this when he came over to my house. I still have a boombox which takes cassettes and dvds, A vcr/dvd player, a Playstation 1, A Nintendo 64, a old ass Microsoft 2000 computer (which is in mint condition since my mom gave it to me as a Christmas present when I was 6). I keep that old computer in the closet since I first starting renting an apartment. I still play music on a boombox since I got that for a Christmas present when I 6 as well. I still play the PS1 and N64. I'm more a pc gamer but going 5th gen sometimes brings back memories. Heck, I even still listen to Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Eazy-E, Tupac, Biggie, Linkin Park, Rage against the Machine, Nirvana, Faith No More, Alice in Chains, House of Pain, Eminem, and other stuff.
He even had the nerve to call me Gramps. He told me I needed to update on shit, when the only thing I really updated on is my computer that I got last year (I use Alienware that shit is fucking expensive $ 2000) and my tv. That's about it. I don't think I want to update since I've always listened to those groups ever since I was young. The 90's were the greatest years of my life and maybe even anyone elses, even though I was too young to remember most of it. Am I really stuck in the 90's?

Yup you're definitely stuck in the 90's but, the 90's were the best so I don't blame you. You should balance it out though. Keep some of the old 90's stuff but, also update as well starting with your computer! A Microsoft 2000? Really? That hurts my soul. And you paid $ 2000 for virus protection? You could have easily gotten a Macbook laptop for less than that without even worrying about viruses or malware.

I'd also throw in a new Xbox one (It's amazing, you're seriously missing out!) or a PS4 (just as good), that'll also take care of the whole VCR/DVD player situation you have going on there. The old systems are great but, also give yourself a chance to experience better graphics and updated games.

It's completely fine to keep some things from the past alive and you definitely don't always have to follow trends but, advancing is also important not only to keep up with the times but, to also make your life a little more efficient.

Not virus protection. Alienware is a brand of gaming computers. I have an Alienware desktop. 🙂

Hahaha yeah I know what it is sorry I read that wrong! You're a PC gamer huh so that was actually a good investment then. I've never tried them out since I like consoles better but, if that's your preference then it makes more sense.

Have you tried the newer consoles like the ones I mentioned at all or do you just stick to PC?

I pretty much stick to pc. I used to do console gaming 2 years ago. But I have since given up on that since you can mod games freely on pc. It's one of my 1+'s modding. I would like to try PS4 and Xbox one, but right now I'm putting my finances into other investments at the time. I got kicked from Xbox live for modding though, so no real point in going back to Xbox (So overrated!). And Playstation has been a favorite ever since I was 5.

$ 2000 on a PC? Pfffff that's nothing. 😛

Custom build it and go wild... well I am actually a bit ashamed to tell how much I poured into my PC but it was from a time when I worked full time at two jobs and had money to burn. Besides the PC is still running as quick as it did the first day and I have had a lot of fun tinkering with it. 🙂

But so what if you have some old electronics? In a decade or so those are actually really cool and one of the few ways most people will be able to view their old recordings.
I have an old tape reel that always has people wondering.

You're just a hoarder 😛
(like most Caps!)

+1 to that.

I have this little piece of plastic that I could easily get between $ 80 and $ 150 for in the right places. Even though I am not using it and probably never will I have a hard time letting go of it. 😆

5 Terabytes of memory would be the bomb.

I'm pushing close to that on HDD's but I am assuming you are talking about the tape reel? It's the audio version. I believe the data version that is still used today are bloody expensive for home use.

Last I checked the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 1 Terabyte drive can be found for $ 329 at Tiger Direct. It's not 5 teras, but at least it's 1 Tera. Yeah I feel ya on the price. My sister 12 years ago got up to 650 Gigs on a HP Pavilion 8750. She had her computer running off of two hard disks because she overflooded the internal one. I love my sister, but I hate her pc skills since she always tried to outshine mine. And the standards in 2002 were a bit lower than today. And even then, she still had up to 370 gigs were of space on a old ass Microsoft 2000 computer (Like mine, but mine's didn't explode like her's did)

I'm stuck in the 80s: The fashion was so bad that it was good! The classic movies! THE MUSIC!! All the music I put on to my ipod a few days ago was pure 80s jams. Weird thing about it all is that I wasn't even born in the 80s and yet I wish I had sooooo bad.

I caught a glimpse of the 80's in the early 90's since not much changed lol You people that lived in the 80's sure did experience a magical era!
