Astrologically Illiterate! :(

This topic was created in the Astrology forum by DICO on Monday, June 19, 2006 and has 5 replies.

Hello,
I'm newbiw to the world of stars.
I know about the Western horscopes which are based on your birthdate. But I guess there are other things on the chart.
I'd like to know more about these terms + what does each mean and how it affects me.
1- Rising star
2- Moon in
3- Planet in (like Mars in, Venus in)
And how do I know my rising star, moon, and other planets? Is there a website to do the calculations?

Thanks smile
Hi DICO,
Your rising star basically describes the initial perception you give off to other people. It was the sign "rising" into the position of the sun on the day you were born. For example, if you are a leo, that means that you are generous and caring and boisterous and magnetic (to list the good qualities). But if you have a virgo rising, you come off as reserved, guiet and cautious.
Your Moon, ruler of Cancer (Home and family)describes the feeling side of your emotional self. It describes how you relate to others, your emotions and how they play out within your personality. Your passions, feelings and intuitions are all components of your moon sign.
Mars, ruler of Aries (Initiation) describes the kinds of energy you posses, and how you go about attaining some of your life goals. E.g., if your mars is in cancer, you approach life with nuture and feelings, if it's in leo, you approach life with persistence and strong will and determination.
Venus describes your acquired tastes for beauty, luxury and material things. This planet is the ruler of Libra (Partnerships) and TaurUs (Money) and plays into the role of relationships, and the kinds of partners you are attracted to. It also plays a role in monetary gain and success.
cafeastrology.com has descriptions of what the planets mean in certain signs. You can also do your birthchart to find out where the signs were, on the day you were born...this chart will describe your personality...why you are the way you are. However, in order to find out your rising sign, and the accurate moon sign, you will need to know your exact time and place of birth. Good Luck!
try
www.astro.com :-)
Thanks a lot smile
I have a very nice reading.
One more question, the websites I checked does not have anything about some planets in signs (nothing about Saturn, uranus, neptun, pluto).
Astrologycafe has houses in planets.
How do I know my house in a certain planet?
I retrieved my natal chart and my pluto in in libra, what house is that?
Thanks again for the help.

Dear User from the Past,

Believe it or not, but I am from the future.

I'm reaching out to you to inform you that not much has changed over the years on DXPnet (in terms of the competency of users). This site has seen other changes from its simplistic layout to its content, having nothing to do with Astrology. It has since been heavily populated by users from all over the globe, and has even been invaded by the Chinese on some occasions. It pains me to say that, unfortunately, the users on this site are /still/ what you once called "Astrologically illiterate," and the future of DXPnet is quite simply...bleak. Still, I hope this letter finds you well and that you were able to find the answers you were so desperately looking for elsewhere.

PS: Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States. God help us all.

Best wishes,

Magneto
