Is it ok to study my Bible, mean while being knee deep into astrology?

Are you asking if it makes you a hypocrite or something?
Srs question.

(I don't think it does, if that's what you're asking)
smile
If God created everything, he created astrology
The Bible teaches against false prophecy (predicting the future via horoscopes). It also teaches against worshipping idols rather than God, as well as gaining our character and guidance from biblical teachings instead of placing this emphasis on the stars.
I think, if you study astrology in moderation and don't place it before God, then you will be okay.

Zodiac signs actually appear in the Bible...towards ending..don't remember what paragraph though..I read it 10 years ago I think.
I know the signs do, that's not what I meant. The false prophecy would be predicting the future as in horoscopes. That's what I interpretted anyway.
I just mean there is a difference between zodiac signs/constellations and horoscopes (predictions).

Oh, ok. I read it differently.

Agree.
Don't put much (if any) stock into it, and view it for what it is. Entertainment.
If you believe the Bible, you'll read the 3 wise men followed the stars to find the baby Jesus...I believe that's astrology right there.
I don't subscribe to the Bible personally, but each to their own.

Uhh, no. That would be astronomy. A real science.
I think it is ok. I've never put much stock into daily horoscopes and such. But I can't deny the obvious indicators that your sun, moon, and asc etc etc, give a rather accurate description of the typical way a person might act in a given situation. But obviously the way you were brought up or the environment you were in or are in, can influence your personality as well. I've truly never seen any evidence, that daily horoscopes are accurate. But to me personally, I can't deny the certain truths that I've seen in my own personality through studying astrology. It seems like the bible preaches against worshipping the created rather than the creator.

That's astronomy, not astrology. Yes, the Bible states that God created the stars and constellations for means of directional impact, not predicting the future.

Amazing at how many don't know the difference, huh?
A few verses against:
Leviticus 19:26
Neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12
There shall not be found among you any ... that useth divination, or an observer of times.... For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD.
Isaiah 47:13-14
Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
Jeremiah 10:2
Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Zephaniah 1:4-5
I will cut off ... them that worship the host of heaven.
A few verses that support astronomy
Genesis 1:14
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.
Judges 5:20
The stars in their courses fought against Sisera.
Matthew 2:1-2
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Luke 21:25
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars.
Of course, people can go back and forth all day quoting verses. The websites I checked out are either for or against and seems the more you read, the more contradictions there are.
Just being in the Bible belt, all the church sermons I've heard about it preach against it. Yet, they preach against the false idols and false prophets in predictions of the future. I've never heard them talk about the personality traits, so I suppose it's up to your own interpretation of the Bible and how you read it in context (make sure you read more than one verse to understand the meaning better).

It seems to me, and I think you may have mentioned it too-- that using the stars/heavens as "signs" is much different than worshipping them.

For me, I see the Old Testament as a history of what the world was like before Jesus came. It's a reference, not a dictation for how life should be lived today in this world.
This is what I try to live by:
Matthew 22:36-40
Jesus replied: ?????Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.?? This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ???Love your neighbor as yourself.?? All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.??

Hmm
I have to agree, here.
Same thing I have pondered as well but I agree with an earlier posting about putting the bible and God first and not letting astrology dictate your life. I myself believe in astrology to an extent. Nothing has elaborated and summed up my personality better than my astrological natal birth chart hence why I find astrology so intriguing. But I'll never accept nor believe the predictions it determined about my future. Only God knows and determines my future. As do my faith, prayers and works. Astrology was a forbidden occult knowledge but its alright as long as it doesn't distract you from following God...oh God I'm rambling too much, sorry.

+1
Which came first...God, or the stars.
