How badly do you have to hurt an Aquarius woman for her to go into her shell

As the title says,
Im curious, just how badly do you have to hurt an aquarius woman for her to go back into her shell and completely ignore you and act like you don't exist?
Is this a self protective thing Aqua's do?
What sort of things would make you retreat and back off and not make contact with someone for over 3 months....
I dated an Aquarius woman for 3 years, and each time she did this it was due to an attack on her ego, heart and insecurities. She was upset once that I was talking to an ex, talking to someone she didn't trust, and when she wanted to move in with me I declined, so she disappeared. The last time she was gone for good, when she found a harmless email between my ex and I about lipgloss. I sure love and miss her to this day. But shes gone for good. Depending on the Aqua, if they don't like something they will shut down.
