Very important.

Explain please? like how do you interpret aspects with house cusps?

Aspects are very important.

Aspects to house cusps? Like the Asc, MC, etc?
If a planet is conjunct a house cusp, it's supposed to very strong.

Mainly people focus on the Asc and MC, since if something aspects those, it also aspects the IC and DC.
(Houses 1, 4,7,10) Other houses aren't as in your face with power, since they aren't angular. Still have power to them though, just in you than on the outside world.

Again they are super important. For example if a Leo has a sun affected with mostly Neptune and Saturn and say square Venus and or Mars that individual will likely be miserable in love or not assert themselves well. Though it depends on what houses the aspects are in that's what's makes us unique. You can think of aspects as the final piece of the puzzle after planets, signs, and house---of course degrees too..

I tend to place aspects as one step higher in importance than actual placements when looking at a chart because the aspects made will augment how any given placement expresses itself. However, not all aspects are created equally so consideration must also be given to orb strength, relation to angles and the cardinal houses, and also the type of aspect being examined.

To me it's the difference between what some dxpers would dub "cat lady" astrology and actually getting it right. Ignoring aspects is basically ignoring half of a chart.

So when you guys talk to people about aspects do they actually get moved by what you're talking about?

Does the average person who's never studied cardiology get "moved" by an explanation of how pacemakers work? Not to compare the subject to astrology really, but unless we manage to cross paths with that rare one percent of geniuses in this world it's generally difficult to relate to a person on what they don't know or understand when it comes down to technicalities.

Partly because of that I'll actually leave out the 'when and where' when I'm looking at a chart and just give the person a description of what I'm seeing. Oddly enough when the conditioned response to what they already know is removed people are much more likely to agree with what they're being told. Just an observation on my own part.

I understand that the situation you're describing probably includes two planets conjunct with the MC and IC but since there's always an opposition on that axis I'm not getting much of a picture on what you mean. Did this "estrangement" between the work and home life come from a traditional astrology description that you found?

I wasn't referring to being moved by technical descriptions but whether or not what aspects are meant to signify actually resonate with the person.

Well, I can certainly see myself in quite a few of my own but since I'm obviously biased by my pro-aspect stance all I can really say is that, to date, I haven't been told I was wrong. But that's neither here nor there.

The downside of astrology though is that it can be extremely subjective. While you are able to explanation in placements throughout a chart someone else could probably find the same thing in another aspect or transit or what have you. That's something that I've never enjoyed about astrology, or even life in general, being that hindsight is always 20/20.
