hello libragirl,

identity, what is that? someones mother, someones wife, someones sister or brother, the person who packs your groceries, how important is it when it's always changing. be happy. that is the only thing that gets me through it all. the little things in life are important, the person who smiles at you on the street, holds the door for you when your arms are full. i feel at this time i have already accomplished the most important thing i will do in this life time. identity crisis? ya, and i am going to have fun while my identity is in crisis. take care libragirl, smile, this is your life. no laugh!

I see wise turtle friend...I feel as if I am constantly discovering who I am and what I am not. As lynda said so perfectly...we really do not have an identity. We are the sum of all. Think about it. All of the people that we have come in contact since our birth are all a part of us and all of those people are part of someone else which really means that we all are connected and we are ONE!

Lynda...if you don't mind me asking...what is it that you feel is the most important thing that you have accomplished in this life time? I should think that you have much more to give the world.

No, i don't think you understand. What i was saying is that my opinion of myself, my 'identity', is tied up with my work and if i am no longer doing that work then i would feel lost. That is what i meant by 'identity crisis'. It's like the guy who works behind the bar becomes so well known that he is known as 'the guy who works behind the bar', or a hairdresser who is so good at cutting hair becomes identified with the fact that s/he is good at cutting hair. What i was saying is that it is hard to seperate your work 'self' from your 'everyday' self. I wish i didn't have an identity 😉

Hey Libragirl....

Forget the cornflakes...the answers are in the alphabet cereal. Get a huge bowl, add milk and then begin to pour the cereal into the milk and watch what happens! Your message will come through loud and clear! Not many people know this but this particular brand of cereal is made by "special" aliens so that "we" can communicate with them. 😉

Ah, I see what you mean about the "identity" crisis. Sure, one can identify themselves to anything if they want to. You don't have to though....it is all about your choice and how you see yourself. Maybe you are a jack of all trades and can do and be all? We seem to be what we "think" we are.

I'm glad that you are alive as well....have a good day 🙂

Congrats Libragirl! 🙂

Maybe you are blooming at the perfect time for you? It's all relative. Not all flowers bloom at the same time. Your book is in perfect timing for those who need to read it and desire to read it. I'm going to look it up and read it myself...thank you for writing it and sharing your talents with us. If you wrote it 20 yrs. ago I would not have the pleasure of reading your book 😉

freebird,

i had definit goals 25-30 years ago. i have full filled all but one. and that one does not seem very important anymore. i just need to find something that i feel passionate about. i will. mid-life crisis. it's great. i have two sons. my first born was born 3 months premie, at 28 weeks, 2lbs. 14 oz. 23+ years ago. when he was 17 months old he was diagnosed with cerebal palsy, he may never walk, be able to write, etc. i vowed i would do everything possible to help him develop to his full potential. he swims like a fish, he walks with canes, he graduated with his peers, his handwriting is better than his brothers, he drives a car with hand controls, i could go on but the point is he is independant and a very happy person, well most of the time. it was quite painfull watching him struggle and when he succeeded, a miracle. i do have alot to offer the world but my heart has to be in it. meanwhile i plan on having fun. hey maybe that's my next goal and my heart is in it.

Yeah, good one Lynda. As i was reading Freebirds post (about the cereal and stiring), i realised that i can reach inside myself and remember 'who' i am. I guess somewhere along the way i lost sight of that. And i like your advice about letting all the other 'things' go because at the end of the day we only have ourselves (and a few 'others' if we are lucky) and we need to rely on our 'selves' to get us through. Yes, i definately need to look deeper. This has all happened for a reason and what may come out of it is some major self-discovery and remembering. I can't even remember who i really 'am', but now that i know, i can start to look 😉

And then i read about your son (Lynda) and remember that the world is bigger than 'me' and that i should remember this. In the grand scheme of things, things like identity crisis' are minute, but nonetheless important. One thing i have realised lately is that it doesn't matter how small or irrelevant you think a problem is, you should tackle it as it comes. Identity... sense of self... you are best off relying on that inner core. How we identify with ourselves is very important; it's a big lesson i have learnt lately, and am still learning. Wow!

Btw, congraduations Candle girl on your publication. I might try to see if it's here in Aussie Land. I was watching the Oprah Winfrey show and she had a segment on "what you really want to do with your life". On the show, she featured an author who, I think, has written a book titled, "What do i want to do with my life" (or something similiar), and they showed a few scenarios of people who had made RADICAL changes in their lives. They all said one thing: follow your heart, you need to be brave and confont your fears of failure etc..., you need to take a risk. But the most poignant thing was FOLLOW YOUR HEART. It was quite an amazing episode. Sometimes i just turn the telly on and there are things like this on.

BTW, Freebird, it was Candle girl who wrote the book, not me!

See all your guys soon.

BTW again... Lynda, i loved your story about your son. Very inspiring and very moving, wow.

This quote i found on a website; i hope the author does not mind that i am posting it here. I would just like her to know that the reason i am posting it is that it truelly touched and inspired me. I think it is amazing:

"Aside from a few highly gifted and fortunate individuals, most of us will live ordinary lives; grow up, grow fat, work to pay our bills on time, hope to meet a decent partner, struggle to raise our kids, care for aging parents, grow old ourselves and eventually die. And we will spend a lifetime trying to make some sort of meaning out of it all. As depressing as this may sound, a mature, well-integrated person will eventually embrace the mundane realities of life and and feel incredibly unburdened and liberated (as in: "You mean, it's OK to just be myself and live my life?")".

I love it; it is so true.

Hi all!

I love how we all opened up here!

I don't want to make this about me, but today is the official publication date for the book. It will be available thru Barnes and Noble, amazon.com, and Borders.

Thank you all and I will have a website up soon. So more inspiration I hope.

One of my poems is as follow,

Worry not about those lines upon your face,
They are only the tracks of Father Time's Skates,
and as we rush to meet our final goal,
Father Time Ice Skates upon our soul!

Looking forward to tomorrow!

Libragirl, a late answer as the subject has veered off a bit, but I was intrigued by the matter of identity crises. Here is some hypothetical mulling as you mentioned the hairdresser:
Mrs X, a popular hairdresser for years, accepts a job offer as a bank manager.
So, will her clients automatically say: I have an appointment with my hairdresser at the bank this afternoon.
And, will Mrs X show more interest in her clients? new haircut than their financial problems??
Now, if yes to both questions, couldn?t that be classed as
identity crises?
Blame this interference on my Libra rising - I tend to see two sides of everything - always.
