Mercury Retrograde in Natal Chart

I start really learning/studying about astrology about a year now. I love it! I'm learning more about myself each day. As I'm looking at my natal chart, I notice all of my planets are direct, except one: Mercury. My mercury is in Sagittarius in the 4th house in Retrograde. It sucks! It makes me more broader, can't explain myself perfectly when I REALLY want to, grammar issues, and thinking and communicating problems. Sometimes I don't even make sense!
Ugh, so awful! Especially since I didn't get much help growing up, and living in the ghetto almost all my life, struggling with family issues, etc. My dad told me when I was little girl, I use to talk weird. Now that I think about it, growing up I did have problems communicating. Sometimes people made fun of me for it. Bastards -_____- just don't understand my pain/situation! I rather write than talk to explain myself. Makes me think more clearly.
Now that I'm in college, I really want to improve in my communicating skills so I can be more effective in my writing and talking skills, AND make my voice heard when people get out of line with me. I was really busy this quarter, but next quarter I'm going to take a speech class and write more in my journal. I'm very creative, so I guess writing poetry and short stories will help me improve.
Anyone or people with Mercury Retrograde in their natal chart have any tips or suggestions for me? This is really starting to get on my nerves. Thanks!
I also post this on the Astrology board. Any suggestions can help!

I have this. I understand your feelings on it. It sounds like you already have a plan to work on what you want to work on, that's about all you can do. My only advice is that it is never as bad to people you are communicating with as it seems in your head. You appear quite well spoken, to be honest. So don't self fulfil this placement by trying to live up to it.
I do get the feelings on it though! Not to be dismissive in the least!
Also, you're a fellow leo rising! People will naturally take notice of you, so don't worry about being heard smile

Sorry for not replying so sooner! I was visiting my relatives for a few days. Left the computer at home. Thanks for your advice deezie! I get what you are saying. I shouldn't be thinking too much about it, but I'll take that speech class and write more to help me smile
Oh yeah, my leo rising helps a lot LOL my voice is pretty loud too thanks to my ascendant.
LOL thanks ellessque! Sorry for replying late! I was visiting my family for a few days. Left my computer at home.
I feel you! My moon in Cancer makes me mumble and even more confusing to others, ESPECIALLY when I'm emotional.
To clarify, my Mercury is in the 4th house, but I get what you are saying!
Since its in the 4th house, it makes me a very imaginative person, traditional, and personal thinker. I guess writing more often and taking more classes that involves history, communication, psychology, and politics can help.
Thanks for your advice! smile

Thanks Gumshoe for putting your time in helping me! I really appreciate it! smile
This is very interesting and I'm looking forward to what you have to say next.

For both AquaPhoenix and Ellesque: Here's a good word to have in your arsenal: neologism.
ne??ol??o??gism (n-l-jzm) N.
1. A new word, expression, or usage.
2. (Linguistics) The creation or use of new words or senses.
3. Psychology
a. The invention of new words regarded as a symptom of certain psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia.
b. A word so invented.
4. Theology A new doctrine or a new interpretation of scripture.
So long as this is a true and proper word, well, have at it! If someone calls you on using a non-existent word, tell them you're a neologist, and smile to yourself as you watch their faces go blank.
And/or tell them how crazy-making talking to them is, so, pushed to the brink as you now are, you have no choice but to invent new words (definition 3b).
Sometimes people really piss me off.

Lmaooo love it! Thank you! Im definitely going to use it! Tongue

My pleasure, AquaP.
I've got a few things to do before I get home, but I wanted to pop in and check up on you. Also, if you could let me know a couple of things, it would help me sort out what advice would be best for you:
What are you studying? What's the whole writing thing about for you, what does it mean for you? What's your greatest difficulty when it comes to communication? What do you feel is your greatest strength?
And these questions are just to satisfy my curiosity: are you Latina? Or any Latin blood in you? Do you speak another language?
One last thing to put in your pipe, something I'm sure you know, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded: there's no shame in ignorance. Everyone's ignorant about something. The only shame is when you throw up your hands in the face of it, which you haven't done. Your post is proof of that.
Now, if someone chooses to make you feel deficient, well, HIYAH! (That's you karate-kicking their ass to the curb- you're better off without them.)
More soon, G.

Well right now I'm trying to major into Legal Studies so I can branch out into law and politics. Staying in one job is pretty boring to me Tongue
But I'm also taking philosophy, education, and probably feminine classes because I want to be a philosopher, teacher, and a right example for women. This is still a men's world sadly. Plus I really want to help people out.
Writing means a lot to me. It helps describe my thoughts and feelings when I can't say it. Makes me be very creative and artistic with my words, especially when I'm passionate about things that I want to write about.
My greatest difficulty is trying to get my point across and explaining it in an effective way. I want to persuade other people with my words and knowledge but its hard when I can't make sense!
No, I'm not Latina. I'm African-American with a little french in me. No second language. I've been living in the ghetto almost all my life, trying to learn as much as possible. But due to major issues in my early life, it was hard to get the education I need, especially with my grammar and writing skills.
You are right. People and their words don't bothering me now. They can't bring me down anymore. I just keep on practicing and mind my own business. I know I'm smart Winking
It just annoying when they assume someone is uneducated or dumb when they dont know anything a
damn cut off.
when they dont know anything about them or their past. whatever, let them be ignorant.

Ps: Do you know what purple roses symbolize? If not, look into it- I think you'll like it.

Take your time! I'm not in a rush. I want to add on that I'm also into psychology because I want to understand human nature and counsel other people.
I just googled it. Love the meaning. Mysticism, royalty, and love with style and elegance. Light purple rose convey love at first sight and dark purple convey deeper and long-term love and romance.
That describes me pretty well. Although my venus in capricorn doesn't believe in love at first sight, I do believe if I meet my lover for the first time, and we conversate very well and let my guards down, I know we are meant to be. Sadly that hasn't happen yet. But I'll wait patiently!
