''Planets close to an angle are given VIP seats in your life. They are major players as angles are the most personal points of your chart''.

-Manda Selva

I’ve noticed that with planets close to the ascendant, I instinctively understand this energy and is very clear about it (the tighter the orb, more the clarity). It's as if you are born with a special understanding of this energy. The planet in the first house, especially close to the ascendant, is not easily influenced by culture, peer group, family, etc. I am authentically jovial person with Jupiter on my ascendant from the 12th (3dg orb) and I can confirm my motto according to this site is definitely ''Go big or Go home''. http://astroarena12.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/jupiter-conjunct-ascendant.html

The Planet conjunct the ascendant can be in either the 1st or the 12th house. The planet in the twelfth house and within 3° or 4° of the ascendant is on the "dark side" of the first house cusp and expresses itself in both houses. As it moves even closer to the ascendant while yet in the 12th house it expresses itself more and more predominantly through the first. Still in the 12th and within about 1°-1½° of the ascendant it should be considered as being in the first house. This dark side effect is true of all the planets and all the angles. http://www.myastrologybook.com/Jupiter-conjunct-Ascendant-astrology.htm

Donna Cunningham's opinion, ''The closer a 12th house planet is to the Ascendant, the less of a secret it really is! A 12th house planet that is conjunct the Ascendant within 10° is much more apparent to people around you and the world at large than you believe. You’re probably not fooling anyone but yourself, even if they don’t call you on it. An example would be the flamboyantly gay but closeted person who believes that if they don’t talk about it no one will know''.

Manda also states on her site that, how much of it is openly expressed depends on the sign, aspects, whether it is retrograde, etc, but the internal awareness of this energy is always present. Let’s say if someone has Uranus conjunct the ascendant, then they have a special connection to all that this planet indicates. Right from childhood, they may be original, independent thinkers, believers of personal freedom, etc., even if they are in a circumstance that does not value those traits. The planet near the ascendant works in a natural instinctive manner without the need for reassurance for the outside environment. If the conjunction is really tight, the person could be a poster child for the planet, and they project the energy of the conjunct planet in a very direct manner. If the planet conjunct an angle is retrograde, then the person may not be that open in expressing the energy but still strongly value it internally. http://www.astromanda.com/planets-conjunct-angles-in-astrology/

During a transit to 12th house planets, the secret will come out. When politicians’ dirty secrets are revealed, their careers usually go down in flames. An example was Senator John Edwards, in the 2008 presidential campaig. National Enquirer began publishing rumors of an illegitimate child, he finally revealed (on 8/8/08) an affair he had 2 years earlier. Pluto opposed his 12th house Sun and Mars in Gemini.

One caution though, it isn’t wise to confide your secrets to just anyone—pick the person and the timing very carefully. Often a professional counselor or spiritual advisor who is sworn to confidentiality is the best place to start sorting things out or just do things as they seem fit. In the case of John Edwards’ 12th house Sun-Mars conjunction, the secrecy of the affair(s?) apparently added extra thrills to the sexual compulsion. However, dealing with hidden issues can be a huge release and relief for anyone with a strong 12th house.. The conjunction to the ascendant can be an added bonus to deal with this.

When Jupiter is in the 12th conjunct the Ascendant, there can be very powerful dreams of exploring the world that simply remain dreams that have yet to manifest. You’re like a passionate explorer stuck in a cubicle and your thirst for adventure is apparent to everyone but you. It takes some self-awareness for you to develop the ability to openly admit to your yearnings, which can eventually lead you on a transcendent journey. If your Jupiter is in the 1st House conjunct the Ascendant, then you’re most likely already on that lifelong journey. In fact, you might be so enthusiastic about exploring the world that it’s difficult for you to stop and take stock of the life you’ve got now. Your restlessness can turn into wanderlust but can also lead you to some really inspiring discoveries.

So do any of you having planets from the 12th house conjunct the ascendant feel this?.. Making sure your dreams (12th house) become a reality (1st house) depending on the planet?
I have the Sun, Moon, and Mercury all in the 12th within six or less degrees of the Ascendant, so I feel very much an open book. No secrets, no stresses. Considering Fortune in my first house conjuncts all those 12th house planets, I feel more 1st house dominant than 12th.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for. Just what is for me.

It is smile thanks. It's more prominent for you when it's personal planets.

I have Pluto from the 7th conjunct Scorpio descendant opposing my Jupiter. So it's a tug of war. I don't always feel I come across jovial, only once in a while.

the planet Pluto is conjunct within 1-1 in a half degree of my ascendant and Pluto is not in my 1st house. its in the 12th house.
Forgot to mention this. An astrologer friend of mine once mentioned, ''I feel that perhaps the sign and house placement may mean more than the fact that it is just so close to the Ascendant. We found that a planet like Uranus, Neptune and/or Pluto, if they were within so many degrees, made a considerable difference to the person's life...

"Uranus: I have been shot at, had serial killers, building go down boom with me in it, Barbeque blew up in my face when I was young...

" I read the description your blogger wrote about Uranus. He said in a number of words that Uranus close to Ascendant, from the 12th would indicate that the person would feel abandoned..'' but you're absolutely right on the mark!,planets close to an angle are given VIP seats in your life''
I have Uranus Scorpio in the first house. Conjuct asc at 2 degrees
Best brief explanation... "Feels like a 12th, looks like a 1st". So don't worry too much if you're not feeling your planet conjunct your ascendant from the 12th. It is playing out its function. Hence seen as a VIP (very important planet smile)
