If your Asc. and Sun are in the same sign, how do you feel about this? Do you find it challenging. Are there benefits to it? Do you wish you had a different Ascendant?

My sun and ascendant are both in Taurus. I've been called "stubborn" almost since the day I was born. It made me curious about my sun sign and astrology in general. Growing up in an astrology friendly family where everyone used to read their horoscopes, and we'd buy those Sidney Omar paperbacks that gave a little more info (not always accurate). I thought I was an Aries Asc. according to Sidney, but later learned I was a Taurus Sun and Asc. when my chart was done by a professional.

Having the same sun and asc. makes me feel like a one way street a lot of the time. But, on the positive side, it does give me focus (especially since it's in Taurus also).

It's a moot point, but often I do wish I'd been born with a different ascendant because it might make me a more multidimensional flexible person. Also I'd wish for Jupiter in my 2nd or 10th house which it's not. LoL.

First thing that comes to mind is "you got sun in 1st house"... That's a shiny placement lol...very leo-like.
I would have thought so too, but my sun is in the 12th house. It does conjunct my Asc. and the moon and mercury too, all in the 12th house. See what I mean? It's a kinda weird chart. IMHO.

Sun in 1st IS NOT Leo-like. What outdated magazines do you get your Astro nonsense from?

no, bricklemark is correct. all fire houses, like 5th house sun, 1st, 9th, makes them "fighters".

it's the natural ability of the house the sun lives in.

a lot of astro sites and astrologers have noted/said something of it.

people here talk about the 12th house.

12th house has hidden enemies....

if your sun resides there, and you are exposed to the world, you get a lot of enemies, such as George bush and Jimmy Carter, if you are in a world that is more "artistic" which is natural for 12th/pisces, it is more lovely for some reason, as if it's natural.

people don't like to see (in general of course) anything passive and sweet in a position that is more cut throat like politics for a pisces/12th. it doesn't seem "natural"

but pisceans acquire a lot of "strength" when they have Taurus, Capricorn, aries in their chart for some reason and use the pisces energy in a way that is subterfuge,

such as George Washington, a politicial leader and the FIRST president,

he used WATER, to battle, (go read up on history)

and the backway, meaning like a NINJA....

http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/George_Washington

he is Taurus risin, Cap moon. 11th house sun, Aries Venus.

Conjunct the asc is relatively the same thing as having it in 1st house ?

My ASC and sun are both in Virgo and conjuct my Mercury in Libra all in the First House.

I present and seem very stable and Virgo like. My only challenges with it is that it seems to be a bit polarizing either people, it feels impossible to hide or blend in and people are very vocal about my appearance.

Attention can make me very comfortable or very Leo proud. Leo rules my 12th house.

I'm water dominant though so my interior life is a lot different from how I "present"

I'm not sure what I can tell you since I don't feel very much like a 12th house sun. But my father was absent a lot when I was growing up because of his work, which probably messed up my reltionaships with men later because there was no foundation upon which to build. He also died fairly young which happens, so I hear, to many people with a 12th house sun.

Yeah theres always about a 5 degree margin, 5 to 7 degrees before the next house -> we count it as part of the next house, or maybe a bit of both, at the least...
