Sexuality in Astrology

How do you determine sexuality/sexual style in a birth chart. Depending on where you read you're supposed to check Sun and/or Mars and/or Venus and/or Moon and/or Jupiter and/or Rising and/or Lilith and/or Eros and their houses. And aspects. What aspects should you look for and how? And then we have the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses. It's all just a huge mess and I'm trying to bring order to it. How-do-I-do-that? Or where do you suggest I read about it?

Where would you start if you were to nerd into this?

from what i've seen, people explore their sexual style from ideals. Either the ideals aren't being met or they are, but that is generally what i think pushes someone to explore their style. And 7th is all about ideals.

I just find it's a subject that involves so many parts of a chart, so I thought it would be an interesting subject to study. There's just so much to consider!

i'd say it's mars but mars is also driving style as in how you drive a car and how you play sports. it's easier to think about those things with your chart though.

You’ve got Gemini on the 8th house cusp ruled by Mercury in Aries. In order to open up within a relationship, you need good communication, honesty and directness. The Gemini part is about being able to chat about things day to day with a partner, and the Aries Mercury is about needing directness, passion, and honesty from a partner. This also indicates that women with placements in Gemini and Aries would appeal to you sexually. Mercury is in your 6th house, the ‘Virgo’ house, so Virgo’s may appeal in this way too.

Yeah I remember looking up sexuality astrology to. I'm old fashioned. Learned that it is mars in men Venus in woman. And when I compared myself to that list of all 12 zodiac signs I was like I have tough challenges ahead and I know who I should mess with and find out myself only. I only know by experience since I don't date alot. By the ones I did date were all air and fire signs. I

Must say, I have never looked at astrology as to find who I should date - I have just checked what happened in retrospect - studying what and why this or that was the way it was. It's interesting to see if astrology agrees with my personal experiences.smile

When I was learning about myself and everything. I don't use it for dating purposes it was what I studied for me. Now if I want to use astrology to this. I am screwed permanently so I use it as a guide after or not at all it isn't worth it. But I still learning more.

Hehehe No, I agree that astrology is a great tool to get to know yourself. Even if there is something you don't identify with, you still ask yourself the questions...and learn by doing that. Imo.smile

@HappyCapper I tell you if I did believe in Astrology and I studied my chart with another it would ruin it. So I don't.

I have once before didn't know the exact time and screwed me up but still want to experience it. Unfortunately the signs were true and my gut feelings were true but I still gave a chance to that person knowing it would end up not so good.

That's why I be telling people by experience or give advice in case they thinking the same thing. Shouldn't use astrology whole heartedly pertain to love. It will destroy you. You can use it as a guide sure.

Agreed. Describing a person fully, by using any system is impossible, imo - now, try to succeed with two people and pretend you know exactly what these two people need in a partner. Yeah, I can tell you that's way past at least my capabilities...

I guess you are talking about sign, sign ruler, houses and aspects. Why not the 7th house, as that would deal with the area of venus? Or maybe that too? Thanks for the input!smile

I personally trust:


Venus, Mars, and Pluto for ones sexuality.

Venus is what arouses you. Mars is how you express it. Pluto reflects your deepest darkest feelings. Which often manifests through sexual intercourse as well.


This is what I personally believe.

I guess we are talking about sign, sign ruler, house, and aspects? If we are, do you do that with Pluto too? I have personally relied less on sign, and also a bit less on the house placements and more on the energy of the planet in question, as related to other planets, when it comes to the outer planets(Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).

What do you think?

I have found this is accurate for many people, but if I would read the description of my mars to the guys I've been with, they would die of laughter. May I ask, what's the sign on your 7th and 8th house cusps, and in what signs are their rulers placed? Maybe that too would direct you to scorpionic energies?

My only aspect to Eros is a trine to mars, but it's with an orb of 5 degrees, which I think is huge when it comes to asteroids. What do you think?

I will look to the ruler of the eighth and aspects to the eight house ruler.
Sign on the cusp of the eighth
Mars, Pluto, Venus and their aspects.
Eros adds a different flavour to our sexuality and sexual needs.
Planet Lust conjunct major personals in natal and synastry.
A woman's Venus receiving masculine planets from a guy could be hit by sexual desires.
A woman's moon receiving aspects from the man's mars/ Pluto/Sun are sexually stimulating to her. Uranus could give excitable desires though not long lasting.
Neptune will be more dreamy a feminine planet will have more to do with the feel than actual sex.
It is not the natal alone. A person who likes vanilla sex could want bondage sex when their mars gets hit by a partner's Pluto. Of course. Nothing is possible without enough triggers in the natal and synastry.

I don't think I have read a great thread on Eros on the web. But I remember when I checked my synastry with my ex, eros showed how he liked to be during the act.
He had it in Virgo- he was service oriented. Even the role plays were based on that.

Two degree orb for conjunction and opposition.
I don't bother all that much about soft aspects for asteroids. If I see it, it is there but I wouldn't put any efforts to read into them. That would be like reaching.

I hardly bother with minor aspects when it comes to planets(0 or maaaybe 1degree only in rare cases) and not at all with asteroids.

I don't relate to my mars sign, sexually. I wish I had at least a pinch of it, but no. The best working theory in my case have been looking through my sun(and all that entails) and at my seventh house, that sign and it's ruler, plus the planets in there. My Eros is kind of accurate, but I believe that energy could stem from other sources than from Eros.

How about you? What theories have worked best for you, you think?

Oh great!
I will now. From square one.
My sun is how I showcase myself and see myself as a person and to the opposite sex.The way is dress, hand gestures, my hobbies, all that. How I want to be perceived is my Sun.
My moon in Taurus is the emotional me. Not everyone gets to see that.
My Mars in Leo is me at work and wanting to be admired lol it does nothing sexually.
My scorpio seventh is how I approach dating and sex. Sex is sacred to me.
Planets in my fifth is how I seduce rofl
My Pluto in Scorpio is what drives me sexually. I need intensity. The uncontrollable and the obsessive.
My Venus is what I find attractive.
My eros fits in a lot. It shows how I am during sex. Not how good or aggressive and all. But what type of sex is my fantasy, what will make me happy in sex, etc,... my secret cravings and wants. What gets me off.

I don't get the Pluto position at all. I mean, the sign placement of the outer planets will be the same for a looot of people. Can't say I pay a lot of attention to the sign (and even to an extent, the house placement, when talking purely of aspects) of Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. I see them more as influencers to other, and mainly personal, planets. I'm willing to swear that the entire Pluto in scorpio generation do not need intensity in sex. I personally need intensity, or I'll walk away, and I'm not a Pluto in scorpio.

Question: Take your venus, for instance. Is it the sign your venus is in that determines what you find attractive, or do you include house placement and aspects to that and to what degree?

Oh, it's quite important in mine as well. (sun, moon venus sq Pluto, merc and MC trine Pluto and some other less important crap)

I can see that being placed in scorpio, your Pluto would be intensified, but that would, as I see it, mostly be experienced in the weighting between that and the planets it is aspecting.

Must admit to never having been sexually attracted to a person with Sag energies. I really like sags most of the time, but I've never been sexually attracted to one, as far as I know, but I do think I have some sag tendencies in bed and if you couple that with it's ruler, Jupiter's placement in scorpio and add some venus(it's in my 7th house) energy to soften things up just a tad...and I think we've got something to work with...if we look at it through the glasses of my sun(and all that entails).

So, I like a mix of tiziani and sadpopcorn's theories. Tiziani wanted to start in the 7th house and look where that got me and Ands suggested this technique, so yay! How would this technique work in your case?
