"Libras, hand over your car keys right now and no one will get hurt."

It was supposed to be a JOKE--a fun way to show that auto insurance companies vary widely in how they determine the amount of premiums to charge. Toronto-based InsuranceHotline.com, a Web site that quotes drivers on insurance rates, conducted a tongue-in-cheek study of 100,000 North American drivers' records from the past six years to predict good and bad driving behavior based on Zodiac signs. But the results have stunned the experts because they actually seem to mean something.
Lee Romanov, president of InsuranceHotline.com, admits she was surprised when she saw a definite pattern with certain astrological signs. "I didn't expect anything, but then I saw some signs got an overwhelming amount of tickets and other signs got an overwhelming amount of accidents, while other signs got a combination of both," she explained to the Canadian Press.
The worst drivers:
Libras, born between Sept. 23 and Oct. 22, are supposed to embody balance, harmony and consensus. But apparently this doesn't apply to the highway. According to the InsuranceHotline.com study, Libras have the most car crashes of any other Zodiac sign, followed by Aquarius and Aries. "As a motorist, you have to make snap decisions, and Libras are no good about making snap decisions," Romanov told the Canadian Press.
The best drivers:
Generous Leos, known for those huge egos and that innate desire to excel, turn out to be the best drivers, followed by Gemini and Cancer.
Who gets the most traffic tickets?
That would be Pisces, followed by Aries and Aquarius. Gemini, Sagittarius and Virgo get the least number of tickets. According to the 100,000-driver study, multi-tasking Geminis get the least traffic tickets, while daydreaming Pisces get the most.
So will the insurance industry pay attention to these findings? Hardly. But Romanov hopes it illustrates how arbitrary some insurance companies can be when determining their rates. Still, Car Carma draws attention to driving accomplishments like few traffic tickets and clean driving records that do result in lower auto insurance premiums.
'And while legendary Scottish racer Jackie Stewart is a Gemini, the world's most famous female race car driver Danica Patrick is an Aries. And Italian-American superstar Mario Andretti, happens to be a Pisces.'

Romanov ranks the astrological signs with the safest driving records in the order listed below:
1. Leo drivers (born July 23 to August 22) finish first, with big egos that are generous and comfortable with sharing the road.
2. Gemini drivers (born May 21 to June 20) were the second-safest due to their multi-tasking abilities.
3. Cancer drivers (born June 21 to July 22) are homebodies who consider the road to be part of their extended families.
4. Virgo drivers (born August 23 to September 22) have a nervous attention to detail, which occasionally results in accidents.
5. Capricorn drivers (born December 22 to January 19) are goal-oriented with a keen focus on their destinations.
6. Sagittarius drivers (born November 22 to December 21) are experienced risk takers and are talkative.
7. Taurus drivers (born April 20 to May 20) are stubborn and have been known to charge at red lights.
8. Scorpio drivers (born October 23 to November 21) like to get revenge via road rage.
9. Pisces drivers (born February 19 to March 20) enjoy daydreaming and need to focus their complete attention while driving.
10. Aries drivers (born March 21 to April 19) have a "me first" child-like nature that drives them into trouble.

I noticed the top four where born from may 21 to September 22, so from spring to summer which is relatvely easier driving conditions than compared to aquas wintery roads. And well the Libras thats a different story.

This is the third list of it's kind I've seen. They all varied quite a bit. It's almost as if this whole astrology thing is nonsense...

yeah, i've seen others too, but i go for the most recent, as road conditions, high tech distractions, or other challenges may change with time. From my own observations, there does seem to be some truth, but, of course, there will always be exceptions! =)
..btw, interesting observation on the seasons, Aloofqua, never noticed that!

seriously though, hands down the best, most safest driver i ever knew was a Scorpio ..observant like a hawk, and very confident too! but true what they say..*be very very nice and mind your p's & q's ..LOL

Put me in both the Aquarius and Scorpio categories. I ate it when people cut me off. That and a little speeding never hurt anybody. Ok that was bad but you get my point.

I'm Aquarius, never had a ticket or a crash. However I do get nervous when people are in the car Tongue I must admit though I do speed from time to time Tongue but shhhh.
My dad is a Picese and he is one of the best drivers I know, however he is coming up to 50 and wrote of 6 cars by 21 Tongue. My ex was one too he was always carshing and getting fines, wrote cars off left right and centre.
I can agree with the Libra thing to a little bit, but one Libra I know is a very good driver. One of the best I know.
The Geminis, some Geminis are the worst drivers I know prob about 3. But the rest are quite good.

To me...
Aries: Inventors of road-rage.
Taurus: Likes to hold-up traffic.
Geminis: In high-speed chases.
Cancers: Kisses, cuddles, or having sex while driving.
Leo: LOVES to cut people off then flip THEM the bird.
Virgo: Reads the paper & does puzzles/crosswords while driving.
Libra: Has TOO many DWIs/DUIs to drive.....Takes city bus while riding while intoxicated.
Scorpio: Does drive-bys or killing sprees.
Sags: Talks LOUDLY on the cell-phone. So loud that they cannot hear the people under their tires.
Capricorns: Jumps curves.
Aqaurius: Crush & burn...& laugh at it.
Pisces: Those fools you see on the side of the high-way toughing their "nose" & walking in a "line".

I like giving way until the other driver becomes totally unfair, and that's where the problem starts. I don't take well to what I see as road bullying.

I found the Libra stats shocking. Besides myself I know about five other Libras really well, none of us have had any accidents and as far as making snap decisions one in particular would rather just play it safe and take the slow lane on the highway (male) another has been in several close calls that were only close calls because of excellent snap decisions in avoiding/correcting the matter and is rather impulsive while driving (changing lanes and passing) and has never made me feel unsafe to ride with her (my girlfriend). I was in a near miss today on the highway. It was a near miss because I was able to check my mirror, swerve, and drop it a gear and punch it while correcting in order to not lose control.
I have also been told by MANY people they feel I am the safest person to drive with. Not because I am the most attentive, but I react the best in scary situations. I don't get frustrated, I never feel out of control, and pretty much always make the best snap decisions out of anyone I know. In fact, when stuff gets really tense I usually take control of the situation because I feel I am the best suited to handle it.
I don't really understand why Libras have the most accidents.
I Gem best friend is on his second DUI and has had over five accidents and this is his second license suspension.
My aries friend has almost gotten us killed several times from initiating road rage then not having the balls to back it up.

as far as i know scorpions are the best drivers. way too careful. and Aries drivers can scare the crap out of other drivers with their speed but dont get into much accidents easily. Taurus and gemini -yes they keep getting into accidents every now and then and are extremely smart enough to blame it on others every single time. They keep messing up everywhere. Libras love speed for sure. but I dont know anyone who has been in an accident so far. Its almost the same with aries. We just love to walk or drive ahead of others. Aquas can be crazy maniacs when they get challenged on road by others and often gets into accidents as i have seen. And i normally hesitate to get into the passenger seat of a male aqua driver. Cancer is way too careful and end up getting into troubles bcoz he fails to balance the vehicle.
