What the heck does modality mean? I googled it and still can't comprehend the meaning. I don't get the context of the question 😢

Now back to the question. I think I like modalities better. I know what I can expect from a specific sign.

Sometimes a person having too much water means nothing, I still get called heartless and I'm supposed to be super sensitive with my chart that has 50% water. I'm not that way at all. So a person trying to figure me out would probably be wrong, if they were basing it off my elements.

It's interesting because each modality is more comfortable in certain elements...

Fixed is more comfortable in Earth. Earth signs naturally have certain qualities that we associate with Fixed signs, even if they're Mutable (Virgo) or Cardinal (Capricorn).



Same goes for Cardinal and Fire having overlap and Mutable and Air having overlap. This probably contributes to me as a Libra (Cardinal Air) being drawn to Mutables like Sag/Pisces/Virgo (though I do have Virgo placements too)...because Air is naturally Mutable in some sense.

This might also be why some find Tauruses, Geminis and Aries to be "too much" at times, because they have double the energy with Fixed Earth, Mutable Air and Cardinal Fire. But they're often more set in their self-worth (depending on other placements), because there isn't as much of an inner disconnect between element/modality.

Water signs are the wild-card, because even in real life, water is more versatile than Earth/Air/Fire. It can stay steady like Earth (not as stable), push into new boundaries/terrains like Fire (not as forceful), and move through different places like Air (not as quick).

Great analysis! I’m a mutable dominated, cardinal earth sign. I feel the most like a cardinal. In terms of compatibility I’d say elements are more important.
