Your first time.....

I've been reading these boards for awhile. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how they first became interested in astrology. I see alot of things based on sun signs alone here. If we were just our sun signs there would be alot of clones walking around out there, don't you think? Although there are similarities between people of the same sign we are all different. I guess after reading a few posts I wonder how some of you became interested. And how far you took your interest . . . .

I always have seen horoscopes here and there. Then I started to think that there might be a way to identify those reports with real people since many people said to me that they truly do ideantify with their signs. Then I looked up to my sign and found wealth of information. However what more intrigued me is that there was so many people who were interested in this. I tought "Where people go, there must be a prize". Took rading here and there, then started to interest wether this has anything to do with reality. Took some psychology books and talked to some psychologist. All were positive. The most intriguing part for me was that psychology and astrology were talking almost same things. Psychology simply didn't say "If you born in that date then you have this personality". Then I understood that astrology and psychology has very much in common. Then I learned alot about human nature and analysed myself. Now I think I wether typical Scorpio or typical Pisces. Probably the latter is true.

You both mentioned "A way to identify" . I agree. I also agree it could be used as a form of psychology if your dealing with someone who understands astrology a little more than the average sun sign. When I see people reading their horoscope I have to hold back from telling them :::there is so much more to it than that::: If I feel the urge to read one I won't read for leo, I read for virgo because that is my rising sign and ruler of my first house.

When I was seven I had an emotional outburst (don't remember why of course : P) But I do remember my mom and her interest in sun signs saying "she's such a dramatic leo". Now, I didn't know what dramatic meant but I sensed she wasn't taking me very seriously and I was crushed. I was serious as a heart attack! My feelings were very real and what the hell is a leo? Later, I heard "that word" again and knew what she meant. Again I was serious. And that was the beginning of my interest in astrology. I picked up a book at age 12 and kept buying them ever since. I have stopped asking people what sign they are because I know that doesn't say very much about who they are. I usually wait and try to guess like Brahn says.

My mother used to always tell me I was a Scorpio and make little remarks that I forgot. But I remember her saying that a lot, just telling me. I looked it up one day and became hooked.

haha BS, same here. my mom always told me i was scorpio. what's your mom's sign? mine is aqua. she isn't that much into astrology, but somehow seems to find it cool that i'm a scorp. lol that was the very beginning, at an early age. later i read about star signs and thought what a pile of crap. we can't be all the same! and i started to observe people and found out that there are certain tendencies that are typical for each star sign. but from my own experience, not because people say that it?s like this or that...

so, how's the weather where you all are right now?

Well, to answer the question. I have a Pisces friend (surprised?) who is really into astrology. She makes decisions based on what planet is in retrograde. I don't take it nearly that far. I never paid attention to any of this stuff until about 4 years ago, (when we became friends) she was trying to guess what sign I was. My Leo characteristics are hidden so she couldn't figure me out. She figured out other peoples signs though based on how they acted and their characteristics and I thought that was pretty cool. So, I guess my "first time" was about 4 years ago. I'm just mostly into the sun sign part of it and trying to figure out what that is in certain people I know or meet. Especially if it's someone I like. If you figure out someone's sun sign though and you don't really know them and they don't know you, you can really freak them out by asking if you're right, lol.

Yes astrology can be contagious.

SB . . . I've never been able to say I believe in it 100% either. What keeps me interested is what they say about the moon. You know, it's pull over the ocean, a woman, clams and oysters are supposed to open their shells underwater when the moon is full. Wow, what a connection. If the moon has this sort of pull, why not the planets?

Lizard, How cool you live in Germany. I've never actually met anyone outside my own country. Pretty sad now that I think about it ::feelssheltered::. Does it ever get warm there?

That's funny. First time a male scorp made me laugh in a long time. The male scorpios I know would always say "What's my sign got to do with it!?"

I think they know but just refuse to admit it.

I noticed people with the same sun signs had LOTS in common with me, and started researching out of curiousity to understand myself. I've come a long way, but also look in other areas of my life to discover who I really am. 🙂
