I only met her twice...I thought that for a while but I only saw her a couple of times she's nice not to mention gorgeous! I don't think I would be a threat and I would never intervene like that. It is what it is...I know he's having issues with her but i don't believe it has anything to do with me...
He's probably protective of his relationship/girlfriend and keeping his distance to be respectful to the both of you. It's better for everyone involved.

He doesn't need to think ill of you to want to keep his distance, quite the opposite. There's a big chance he won't cut you out forever, but he also might not make the first step in the future. Give it time before you contact him and once he knows/believes you're over him, you should be fine.
