Confusing Cancer Man PLEASE HELP !

I'm a confused Aqua girl interested in a Cancer. Im a sophomore in college and one day my cancer Guy tweeted me on twitter. It turns out he had been interested in me since freshman year and had went around inquiring about me. We exchanged numbers and he would text me every second of every day. We ended up having sex on our first time hanging together but he was clear that it was a mistake and he thought no different of me. The next week we had sex again and i really started to fall for him. My moon is in Scorpio whic,h makes me very in touch with my emotions. Im always very open with my feelings for him. About two weeks later he hit a rough patch and started distancing himself. This saddened me and I walked past him without speaking. He later admitted how embarrassed it made him in front of his friends. I admitted that I had deleted his number and he called me childish and crazy. He said he needed a break because i quote " trip " too much. A couple weeks passed and I found out he was talking to someone else so i asked him to talk. He agreed and revealed he was talking to someone else but when he was ready for a gf it would def be me and who knows what will happen BTW us in the future. He then proceeded to go on a rant about my past. Then he revealed things I'd said during sex and how my emotions scare the hell out of him. He said I can't handle my emotions. Finally he said that he was no good , every relationship he had never ends right , he has nothing to offer. Just basically beat hinself up. He said hes done something that eats him alive inside.I left that convo more confused about how he feels about me. He withdrew but answers all my texts and even called me twice last week. Can anyone help me discern this Cancer, im really falling for him.

I think that he is suffering from his own insecurities and he is also really young.
Cancers tend to live in the past too much and he is not mature enough to know that the presence is what matters.
Its hard to really understand us cancers because we are so internal and when we are young its so much harder figuring ourselves out and moving on from the past.
I say keep the communication channels open and dont get too wrapped up because he is wrapped up in himself and his emotions. He is not sure of what he wants because is exploring his options and he sounds scared and insecure. I think you should explore your options as well and not take second best from him.
He cant get his cake and eat it yoo, cut off the sex until he can make a real commitment.

thanks for your responses, unfortunately everytime I try to get away , he reappears in my life. Its always hot & cold with him. He keeps telling me there's nothing special about him , he's just like every other boy.
your cancer guy says a lot of the things that the cancer guy i have been interested in has said to me (that he's just some dude, has nothing to offer me etc etc)
really? I just don't get him. One minute he's caring & thoughtful to me the next he's distant. Its as if he doesnt believe he's good enough for me. 2 days ago he asked me to text him but when I did , I didnt receive a response. smh
