Yeah, she was trying to get him to act like an adult. Good call.
However, Letterman is NO adult. He was really rude and inappropriate toward her, since she is dealing with alcohol and drug issues.
That is hardly something for Letterman to "joke" about.
PERIOD.

Never liked Letterman. He's always been a huge asshole. I've seen old-school stars come to his show only to be humiliated and ridiculed, and he ALWAYS goes for the cheap shot. Just check how it went down when Oliver Reed was guest...

You are half right on her needing to hear the truth.
Only a qualified medical person should be the one talking to her about "the truth about alcohol and drugs," and it should be in privacy.
Letterman has ZERO qualifications to discuss her personal life, let alone in front of a bunch of heckling audience people and TV cameras.
I agree. When someone is having a problem you should cover them with love & understanding....Not bully them to tears.

She needs to fire her people.
Before she agrees to this interview, they are suppose to go over what can and can't be discussed.
Anyway, she handled herself well actually.
Perhaps Letterman feels obligated to say something because of tragic deaths of celebrities like Whitney Houston.
Maybe if more people challenged her on her behavior she would still be alive.

I dont think he was really all that rude to her...yeah he kept going with it but still....
Its not like everyone doesnt already know about her life...this is a way for her to tell her side..not that its anybody's business but if you put your life out there like that then people are gonna know your business.
The girl needs help...bottom line and sometimes people dont respond to love and understanding...its up to her to get better and no amount of love and understanding is going to make it so...and it might have the opposite effect. She needs a wake up call before she follows suit with the rest of the fallen celebs. hopefully this time she finds the help she needs...

Letterman went across a line that no one should. Taunting a person with drug or alcohol problems seldom goes anywhere worthwhile.
@ the jackasses defending Letterman, remember that Lohan indicated in the interview that she was misled and most likely LIED TO in the pre-interview by Letterman's people. Had she known that her alcohol and drug problems would be the "jokes" on the show, it's most likely she wouldn't have appeared on the show. I know I wouldn't have, nor would anyone with an iota of self-respect. You are defending people who knowingly lied to a person suffering from drug and alcohol problems, and nothing more.
