What is the meaning of the descendant?
It's the opposite of your ascendant (mine's libra).. so.. Anyone got a clue?
where did you go to find your descendant? the birthchart that i did only gave me the ascendant.
well, the descendant is the sign opposite to you ascendant! smile
e.g. my ascendant is libra, so my descendant is aries
I read about it and it stands for the sort of partner you're looking for I think..

"The ideal match for you is the personality type denoted by the sign on the cusp of the descendant."
I have to sort of disagree with this site being so strong as to say that the descendant shows the "ideal match." The rest of the page is quite good though, especially this:
"Astrologers are frequently asked 'Which Sun sign is best for me?' The short answer is, there is no short answer. There are too many other variables..."
Variables! Lots of 'em. If this was easy to understand, everyone would believe it. And people would be very "simple."

Anyhoo:
The descendant marks the beginning of house 7, the "partnership & marriage house."
Interpretations of the seventh house:

"Astrologers are frequently asked 'Which Sun sign is best for me?' The short answer is, there is no short answer. There are too many other variables..."
It's true! 'Cause my ascendant is libra, so that would make aries my ideal partner. As I am a cancer, it's a bit weird to accept that an aries-male is my IDEAL partner.. (not that I don't appreciate 'em :p ). So we need to acknowledge the other planets etc.. too!
I was just curious about the particular meaning of the descendant.
TXS for the links Winking
