How can I convince Cancer to move in with me?

This topic was created in the Cancer forum by xxbrittxxtay on Monday, May 12, 2014 and has 24 replies.
My best friend who is a Cancer (female) is 23 years old and still living with her parents. She is attending school but only a few classes and works as a waitress a few nights a week. For the past year I have been trying to motivate her to move out of her parent's house and get an apartment with me. She is the only friend I think I could tolerate to live with and it would be nice to have a room mate!
She keeps telling me to wait until she is done with school but she's been in school since she was 18 and not a university but community college. She is no rush to finish it, and I think she is holding off moving out as long as she can. I really want her to move in with me to this awesome apartment near us but she seems like she isn't ready. I know Cancer women like routine, and they do not like sudden change. So what should I do to hint it to her I want her to move in with me without being too pushy? I am a Taurus btw!
You two made up?

We were never "fighting" just had a tiny issue arise. Nothing major smile But we are good now!
Is she shorter than you? Off topic I know.

No we are both 5'5 lol
Or the dark haired version of you?
Does she have to be in school to stay with her parents?
Hm. I was getting to that, Selene.
At first I assumed Britt was financing this project since she comes from money.

Dark haired version? Sorry I am confused lol
No she doesn't she just feels comfortable there. And she only pays her car payment and maybe her cell phone she hasn't taken on really any adult responsibility yet and it may be intimidating.

I would advise against trying to convince her to move out.
Do not make a financial commitment with someone who might change their mind and move out in a month or two.
If she is still a student, then she might not be able to afford to pay rent.
Consider this from a practical perspective.

She only does like two classes AT MOST and at the community college it's $ 150 per class. And she works at the infamous red neck heaven so she makes good money! I think she may just be afraid I really don't know.
I don't think she will go for it.
If she does, she will turn around and go back home.

Unfortunately I agree, I just don't understand because she is going to have to do it sooner than later she can't live with her parents forever and at the rate she is going she's not even close to being done with community college and she's been going since she was 18 and she's 23 Sad
She may be your bff but you two have minor misunderstandings of one another than can really blow up under the same roof.
Its not easy finding a crab who can tolerate too much drama at home without showing a different side of their shell.
Some girls go from daddy's house to husband's house.

Yes you have a point. I guess in my mind I think it could work out because me and her are always out and about doing things and I work 45 hours a week so there isn't much room for drama. I still want to mention it to her I just don't know how really.

Motivating her to move out might be the best thing ever to happen for the CANCER. We're too slow at times.

How would you recommend approaching her about it? I have hinted it to her at times but she seems really iffy.
CC you surprise me. Shocked you would encourage this. Truly.
I suggest you build one of these, and put some chicken meat in the middle of it.
Why should she ?
she doesn't pay the rent.
she doesn't have to cook nor pay for food.
it allows her to save some money ...we never know what the future holds for us.
In Europe it's okay to live at your parents when you're still at university. We do everything later than american kids : we get our driving license later (age 19) , our own appartment later, a "real" job later...
Be careful, living together has been known to ruin lifelong friendships. Not saying it'll happen to u, but it's always a risk. You never really know someone until you've lived with them.
Are you both neat freaks? Same sleep schedule? Both employed? Able to request personal space when needed? (And trust me, you'll need it!)
Things like that can make successful cohabitation more likely.

you sound like someone i used to know. Shes saying no because she doesnt want to. Its all about u it seems. Were u bitching about her in another thread how she was making new friends and always talking about them or to them and u didnt like it? I wouldnt be suprised if she gets her own place without a roommate. We dont like other ppls bs, especially in our living space. You kinda come off as demanding

Well she ended up saying yes! Thanks for your useless opinion. And I am glad you stalk my posts, weirdo. Take your negative opinion elsewhere moody b*tch. Lol

Yes that is what I've heard. I went to college and had a room mate and everything was great for all 4 years and we had complete opposite schedules. But my friend and I now both work a lot and she is still going to school and we hang out with the same people, so it's not like strangers would be coming in. She actually said yes to it, so I am excited to see what the future holds and if it doesn't work out she can always go back to living with her family. I enjoy her company and I know she will pay rent on time and she decorates the same as me, and isn't messy what so ever!

Things are more expensive in Europe tho. Unless you live in NYC, Boston or LA/SF, you can get your own 1br apt for under $ 1000 USD a month! Something equivalent in France or Germany would probably be at least 2-3x more expensive.

Scared
In NYC or SF, that would probably cost $ 3500 a month.
Not looking forward to moving to NYC soon....lol!
