make sure I come then ignore me??

my boyfriend is a cancer. there will be parties, events, etc. where he makes a huge fuss about me going, invites me several times, etc., then barely speaks to me when we get there. he'll leave me on my own and do his own thing, checking in maybe once or twice through the night, only for a mintue or so.

i thought this was weird and maybe something funny about his personality, but then i was talking to my girlfriend, who just broke up with a cancer, and he used to do the same thing to her. what gives—??

Hmm,sounds like a "have to bring a date,to be cool" or whatever "like" thing....i've known cancers whos done that yeah!They want to be social but don't want to do it alone so want someone to come with due to shyness,then find out its all okay and they get caught up in the socializing part of thier personality.

My crabby used to be all lovey dovey with me when we'd go out with his friends... at first. Now? Not so much ha ha ha but he's not totally distant either though. He'll tell me before he goes outside with the guys, check up on me once in a while to see if I'm ok (not too drunk lol) or if I need something. Although sometimes he does get caught up with his buddies -aaaaaaaaargh!- but I'm ok *smiles through teeth*
