male crab? (haha - what else right?)

I have an interest in a cancer guy, and things have slowly been progressing in our encounters.
I don't know him all that well but what I know I really like, we speak for maybe a few minutes a week at work (he's usually ending his time there, when my shift starts - it's at a sports facility).
All of the slow progression has pretty much been on his part and unfortunately I can't bring myself to that vulnerable state to be able to flirt with him, or clue him into my interest at all.
So tonight he brought in some jackets/hats to give to me and some of my co-workers (who are all male). Super sweet and nice/thoughtful thing for him to do. Just wondering what kind of thing I can do to show my appreciation tomorrow when I see him again (because I believe I kind of flubbed it tonight, I thanked him and all, but that was about it). And also super scared that I'm reading WAY too much to things and that he's just being friendly with no interest in me at all.
Any help would be great! Thanks all!

or simply ask him out for coffee or a drink sometime when your schedules don't conflict!
