Are you familiar with Mindfulness?

Originally a Buddhist concept, it has become popularized in the west since the 70s.
I practice it and have found a lot of improvement with my tendency to over-analyze things to death.

In short, you are focusing your attention in the present (rather than the past or the future - which in essence tends to be what analyzing things is about - trying to figure out why something happened and what might happen in the future) but it actually takes time and patience to learn how to do.

Like any exercise, gaining the strength and control is a process but well worth it IMO if you are plagued with persistent thoughts that seem to be negatively impacting your quality of life.

I do this alot. But sometimes what work is to stop the thought right when it entered your mind by replacing it with something positive. Think about what make you happy, or think a about something that made you happy in the pass. You replacing the thought with something more exciting.

Another thing I do is try to focus my mind on one object that's around me. Forexample as soon when a thought come I would stare at picture on the wall. Every time my mind go back to the thought I would bring my mind back to the picture. Do that for 15minutes. It help me to keep my mind focus
