'Tethering' or e-stringing someone along?

Oh boy. So this whole time I've been thinking that this younger Cancer guy I'm always talking to/not talking to has been taking his time getting to know me, and not sure how to proceed with everything (I was getting out of a complicated relationship), and then I hear two girls talking about a guy "e-tethering" one of them. Then I see someone mention it here on the boards: A false emotional bond created with texts, usually with a few women at a time, with no intention of anything else.

A month ago, I tell him my relationship has finally changed - which should have made him happy - and asked him to get together a specific weekend. He waited until the weekend actually came to tell me he was going to be with family (he was; verified on FB). Just left it very open for us to keep talking.

For most of this month we've had constant back and forth, but nothing really personal, sexual, etc. Lots of cutesy pics with text and videos back and forth. He tells me

The first time we were together was months ago and he said all he did was think about me to the point of distraction. But my relationship status bothered him too much, and he ended our communication. Then he popped back up end of summer and it's been spotty, and then a lot better this whole month.

Is he "tethering" me with texts and snaps in case he 'someday' changes his mind? Could it be a trust issue? Could he really take this long to pursue something with me??

Pretty much every day. :-P Both meaning to and not meaning to.

Cancer females can't help it by the way. We are outrageously hypocritical we can't stand people who do it to us.

We kinda like the cutseyness we do it with everyone. We expect people to know when we're serious.

You're better off without him honey. If he is cancer he should know your feelings I would wager he knows how you feel and is texting anyways.

So... it makes him feel good to know how I feel, and then he doesn't have to do anything until - and unless - he's good and ready?

How do you expect someone to know when you're serious?

Young folks these days...do their parents teach them to be douches?
