I'm always willing to figure out where miscommunication and misunderstandings went awry, and if they're someone I love and trust then they get even more of that. But betrayal on the order of cold, calculating and brutal is an instant closed book, you're out, drop dead for all I care, it's over. And that comes with a huge dose of looking at past repeat offenses of smaller proportions, etc. It's true that Cancers don't forget. Depends on how much I liked him. It also depends on a persons full chart. I'm a triple cancer with a venus in leo...sooo, safe to say I'm generally moody but super upbeat but ultra loving and demonstrative to those I care about unless I'm in a dark and moody place and then the whole world will feel it and it depends on how bad the dark mood is as to how long it lasts but generally I'm in an upbeat rather bouncy mood and if that's the case and I really care about someone then they'll figure out very fast just how much I missed them and it's bound to be slightly messy.
Crabs like space and we don't like space. It's a catch 22. We like space when we're frazzled or in a dark mood. We also want to be doted on and babied a bit. But we don't want to be treated like a baby. We might be prone to pouting.
I'd say it's fairly good that she's responding quickly enough.

Also it is tough being a Cancer guy in the US. Men here are oppressed here emotionally and have the wrong definition of masculinity. I think it takes guts to be this emotional and yet not be afraid of it.

It's up to you to decided which advice you would take.
I am on the side of thoughtful, sweet, and charming. I do not like to see anyone hurt, esp. at the hands of me. I do know a female who is a downright nasty, crude, and vulgar being. I have a tough time saying words that are harsh sounding. I think bodily functions are private, whereas this one cancer chick is the opposite. It's not all based upon the sun sign but the whole chart and also who raised you. Now, don't get me wrong, I can be a force to be reckoned with if need be. Usually, I am a sweet and kind. I am all for etiquette and quite despise those who lack manners. I have to male cancer friends who are the epitome of sweet. I have come across a couple bitter ones and let me tell you, they are quite nasty.
I shy away from nasty people because I don't want to get pulled into that kind of vacuum.

I think you are attaching to much symbolism to her actions.
When all she is doing is chatting and being friendly with group members.
At this point you will have to look for signals indicating she would like to spend time with you.
Has she given you that signal?
I think you have to be patient and wait this out.
