ps. It seems Merc Rx only makes me talk A LOT! Sorry

*chuckle*

My personal thoughts on the Jupiter expansion/luck aspect is that although this Jupiter transit offers favourable conditions for expansion and much potential for luck, unless the individual is open too, recognizes opportunities and takes advantage of them they may well pass them by.
So there is an element of : proactiveness involved

Everybody here is so insightful, may I ask, if my moon is in Cancer can I expect any impact from this whole Jupiter situation?
In my natal chart Jupiter sits cosily in Capricorn... I have tried googling for the info but I don't have the astro know how to quite understand it all...

If you have a Gemini ascendant and your moon is in the 2nd house, Jupiter will transit your second house and may give you emotional security about your finances, possessions and material wealth - depending on how the planet is aspected in your chart

At a point, it will be in opposition to your natal Jupiter (depending on what degree it falls in and retrograde and all that). If your natal Jupiter is in the 8th house, then you could expect a surprise concerning sex, death(not literally), taxes, investments or something you're passionate about.

Thanks for responding, it's fascinating stuff to ponder...
A surprise concerning sex Lol - the surprise would be getting any *chuckles* then *sobs silently*

i am getting pissed off at the disrespect and disregard for the most accurate astrology which is vedic. vedic is not like western for many reasons. it is very precise and uses mathematical calculations to predict events. it is also the most ancient and the true authority on astrology.

I follow vedic and basically use it for interpreting my own chart. I don't always use it for others because it's very complex and most people don't understand the concept of aspects and house lordships. The other thing is the lunar nodes (Rahu and Ketu) whose effects are rarely understood or correctly interpreted. But I do agree that vedic astro is insanely accurate in predicting events.

I read somewhere that it's based more on your ascendant. So if your ascendant is Cancer, it's better than sun sign Cancer.

The ascendant determines how your houses are distributed, you see? So, it's not really that it is better if you have a Cancer ascendant. It is just that, the ascendant will show where Jupiter falls. And Jupiter in the 1st house is not really all that. 😛 It expands the way you appear to people, and your physical stature. lol So, if you have a Cancer ascendant and someone says you're putting some weight on, you can just say, "Ah, fuck Jupiter!" lol

Thanks. So where is my house at? My ascendant is in Gemini. I read this in Cafe Astrology, btw. It said the Jupiter transit would affect both Cancer suns and ascendants but the ascendants more. I feel slow ' _ '

For you Jupiter is lord of the 7th and 10th, currently located in your ascendant in Gemini (sidereal). It brings the elements of the 7th and 10th house to your 1st house (self). Besides it will also aspect your 5th, 7th and 9th houses from where it's currently placed.

Things related to all those houses will be on the move: Children, relocation from your current place (if it hasn't already happened, could be just moving houses), love, partnership and growth in career.

What's your moon sign?

Wtf!!!!! And i thought this year was breakout year....

it is ...but not for the reasons you are thinking....

i will say this.....It is darkest before dawn...well the year of the snake is the dark part.

anybody who thinks everything is fine and the economy is recovering is idiot and will soon see what i mean. the fundamentals are crumbling and all this is ultimately leading to one huge negative event...

but like i said july 26 2014...will be one of the happiest dates we will know. golden age offcially begins once the snake has done it is damage. this horse year will be unlike any other.

whats in it for a cancer? how will it be beneficial? could you share some details?

i do have very good news though. the golden age will begin when jupiter moves into cancer as it is exalted. right now saturn is in libra and this is what is called the "regulation of arrogant bastards" and we will clena up the karmic mess on this planet in this highly charged 2013 year. just to give you folks some idea....this is the year of the snake which is never ever peaceful and is always forcing "transformation" of society. usually the bad stuff happens in this year so the good stuff can happen in the year of the horse. dragon year has high positive excess(like the roaring 20's type of stuff) and snake cleans up the act like a depression.

the last time it was the year of the snake? 2001......did something happen that year? yeah...

however this change will be the final push to get rid of the 4% or so assholes who are holding the entire system hostage for their pervese lsuts of money, power and sex. staurn is in course to kick them in the balls and obliderate their egos which will pave way for wise leadership and the golden age.

take heart because the golden age is great exciting time to live. i am getting happy thinking about it. i also don't believe this is "mumbo jumbo" as i follow vedic time cycles which are extremely accuarte.

it will be a period of time where we will set aside ego and create one hell of a happy and joyful place to live. yes even i have to get rid of my ego as a leo....this will be quite diffcult 😛

Just to add to your already informative post, Saturn becomes combust on October 19th and moves to the next nakshatra (star) of Vishaka (Lord: Jupiter) on November 4th, this will bring to an end these highly cathartic effects of Saturn in this year 2013.

I have sun in the 11th house with Rahu (the amplifier)...tell me about ego, arrogance and the regulation of Saturn...lol. I have taken a battering this year....I have withstood the assault reasonably well and become self aware about some of my mistakes.

but accepting that the positions of planets affect us doesn't make sense, so why would I accept true placements using the make sense logic. Idk. It is kinda confusing.

I don't understand what you mean here....why believe in astro at all then?

Vedic takes into account stellar drift and the wobble on the earth's axis to correct the position of the constellations mathematically. The sun doesn't pass with Cancer in the background from June 22 - July 22 anymore...that position was valid almost 2000 years ago. That's how far off the mark tropical astro is. If you are born before July 15, you're definitely Gemini.

I don't understand either lol, but yeah, something like that. I know about the drift, I had basic astronomy at college, we called that the precession.

So, does the description of Gemini differs in vedic from western, or maybe you could just post some links that you find worth reading.

In vedic chart I have no water. I'm not sure I can accept that lol.

Yeah, it's called procession of the equinoxes. There are no generalised descriptions by sun signs for vedic.

First of all vedic astrology is based on lunar signs (because the moon denotes your inner self not the sun). So your personality and other traits are based on the moon placement. Secondly, vedic is more personalized in the sense it takes into account various factors in your chart to decide your personality etc. So, the short answer is no for popcorn astrology (sun signs characters) in vedic.

Again, I find that last bit funny...if you had been told from day i that your chart had no water you would have accepted that. The problem with this website is that too many people imbibe general characters of various signs and are not rational about astro at all.

I am sure there is some idiot on this thread somewhere who is saying, "I don't feel like a gemini"...how the fuck do you feel like a gemini??

Yes, I've read that the two systems were in unison around 280AD.
However, based on the tropical zodiac description of Gemini, I definately am not a Gemini, in my considered opinion.

Can you provide, or is there any modern delineations for the sun signs in Vedic astrology, because, as we discussed this once before, the one's I've read were rediculous (crap, to be blunt)

From a mathmatical/scientific perspective, there seems to be consensus that Vedic is most accurate for positioning of celestial bodies.

Serious Professional astrologers need to step up and put some work into this if Vedic is to gain mainstream acceptance.

Moonman, I told you to use the website just to get the calculations...I never said that you should read all the crap written there. We have been through this before. Please also refer to the response I have posted to aurora's query...there is no sun sign delineations of the type you get in western astro because vedic is more personalized to your specific chart and it works on the basis of lunar signs.

Vedic is mathematically accurate and I can't trust something which doesn't even meet that minimum standard (read tropical)...

How would you know whether you are a gemini or a cancer or aries or anything for that matter?? If you were born 1000 years from today, you would be aries...waddya know..

i am from india where vedicastro is the only astro followed when it comes to even making arranged marriages. I have a birth kundali done (birth chart) since our birth where all those placements rae written...sun in gemini moon in libra etc... but then I am not having much of gemini traits or libra moon traits... so how doI specifically place myself in a sign of each planet? or is it something like you believe what you hear and then you evolve with that mentality—

There are no such things as traits....planets don't decide your traits, your upbringing and life experiences do. What planets do tell you is your potential and your karma (if you believe in past lives)...do you carry a burden from your past life or a gift. So you know what you could shape your destiny into..similarly planets also indicate the challenges in your life. This is the optimum way in my humble opinion to understand astrology...not to look for generic traits.

Let me give you an example of a gift and a challenge:

a) Jupiter in the 1st or Mars in the 10th are considered very good placements. jupiter in the first aspects all the trinal house 1,5, 7 and 9....which are associated with key dimensions of our life. Mars (the most malefic of planets) being in the 10th gives you the vigour and courage needed to stand upto great challenges and win in your career..something a benefic like the moon for example can't give you.

b) Ketu or Saturn in the 7th house of spouse and partnerships is a serious affliction. This challenges someone's ability to have fruitful relationships and forces them to evolve and become better individuals.

As you can see all interpretations under vedic astrology works on the basis of karmic gifts and challenges. So the kind of "traits" that you talk of are a complete myth. No serious student of astro should be looking for such traits.

lol

I read about my Nakshatra which is MRIGASIRA just now and it is very accurate. I mean really really accurate.

The star of Mars.....a bit on the impulsive side are we? 😉

Btw your nakshatra is the constellation through which the moon was passing at the time of your birth and not the sun...just in case. I am saying this because the nakshatra mrigasira falls in Gemini (where your sun is placed) unless you also have Moon in Gemini.

I can be impulsive, but not so often. idk, I read for my boyfriend and the description has nothing to do with him, or I don't know him that much. I'm Taurus moon. IDK!

If you're a taurus moon, your nakshatra is NOT mrigasira. It can only be Ashvini, Bharani or Krittika. Vedic astrology works on the basis of lunar and not solar signs. So for you and your BF, the nakshatra in which the natal moon is present is your nakshatra!
