Hey guys. I'm sorry I haven't updated on the situation but I've been going through typical piscean moods lately.
So this is what has happened:
Cappy did in fact talk to my supervisor. No she did not make it obvious that she was staying after- or she wasn't very slick about it. I just found it weird that since we both leave at the same time, she wasn't walking out of the office at the same time as me.
So the next day my supervisor talks to me and basically says that the promotion will be based on the quality of work and not on anything else.
But I feel like this was in some way a lie.
Today after lunch- I got the promotion.
I feel that if she had kept her mouth shut, she would have been the one to have received the promotion...
Congrats!
You did the impossible and beat a Cap at working.
World domination seems like the next logical progression in your career.
As for what ifs, they aren't reality. No need to drain yourself thinking of them.
Thats why I think it was all a huge risk. Of course it would backfire...ugh, karma anyone?? Not to mention, its not a good look to the supervisor. You admit though that you think she deserved it which I still think plays a part in the attempt to sabotage.
I just think its a lesson learned to you both. If your moodiness has anything to do with the situation i could see why you would feel certain ways, however try to chalk it up and look at the positive. Congrats to you on the promotion!
If she did run her mouth, all it did was make her look disloyal and conniving and petty. Those types of people are most often overlooked when it comes to promotions. The character trait they displayed does not instill trust, will not work toward office cohesiveness and indicates they are not team players. Therefore, they are not promotion worthy.
We still don't know what was actually said, though. Keep that in mind.
Will she be reporting to you now?
Thank you guys I really appreciate it. I'm stressed but happy because I really needed the money that the promo would bring... Especially for school. Even if I don't think I deserve it.
The reason I knew that she spoke to my supervisor was because I confronted the supervisor and said "i have some concerns about a few things...I know some words have been tossed around the office in regards to the job promotion. If I have offended you or if there are any misunderstandings I would like to clear them with you- I don't want trouble here, whether or not I get the promotion. I just want there to be peace." And he just told me "(coworkercappy) came to talk to me about these 'words' and frankly nothing either of you say to myself or anyone else in this office will determine your promotion. The only factor that will determine will be the quality of your work and the efficiency with which is accomplished."
I can't trust people as easily as I do.
But hopefully she learned her lesson and doesn't do the same thing to someone else... I know she can do better than that... Just disappointed in her...

Congrats! You beat beat a Cap Big Grin
