Slow as Molasses ... driving this Cancer Bonkers

My First Post ... looking for insight. This Cappy has me going bonkers.
So we meet online, he lives and hour 1/2 away from me. After about a month we meet in person and sparks fly
Great chemistry, mutual attraction etc. He says to me, "can't wait to see you again", "you're sexy", "You're beautiful" after the first meet. So I follow up a few days later, and ask what are you doing this weekend? He ignores me .... I say WTF?? He replies with "I'm not ready for a relationship." I say "Who said they wanted a relationship?". We remain in touch, the occasional phone call here and there. Meet up when I'm in his town, or he's in mine, have a short visit. Just 'friends', though both of us have indicated that we are attracted to one another. No pressure, I enjoy his company and I like the way I feel when I'm with him. .... fast forward a year .....
He calls me out of the blue ... asks me if i want to go on a roadtrip with him, about 2 months down the road. Just him and I. There's an event that he wants to attend and wanted me to accompany him. I'm so excited! we plan this weekend getaway, I arrange for a babysitter and time off work. He's counting down the days on Facebook (to the event, no mention of me, but that's ok). Two days before we are supposed to leave, he calls and says 'I'm broke, i tried, but I can't pull off our planned weekend' ..... dissappointed, but I tell him, "i understand, I just want to see you, I don't care what we do." He says "cool, will ttys" .... don't hear from him for a couple months, but can see from his FB that he's been laid off work. Understanding how Cappy's are, I try not to take it personally. I'm pretty busy myself, and honestly don't have patience for 'chasing' men. But I REALLY like the way this one makes me feel! I would make the time for him ... if he would just ask! I drunk txt him from time to time. Sometimes he responds, sometimes not. OCCASIONALLY he'll drop a 'hey, thinking of u'

So i get a txt on my way home, "sorry, forgot my phone at work, just got your message. Was great to see you ... ttys"
UNBELIEVABLE ... I txt him back when I get home, "home safe & sound" He texts back right away .... "wish i could have spent more time with you" I respond, "I would have stayed longer if you asked .... " His response, "now you tell me!"
I don't know ... Should I even bother getting my hopes up?
