I've noticed since traveling in SE Asia that I see really old men running around with these super young women that come from impoverished backgrounds and have little to no means for upward mobility. In my mind, that's exploitive because these women definitely wouldn't be messing with these old men if they didn't have poverty like a razor at the heel. I think maybe things are different if the woman, or men, depending, has their own means and isn't *dependent.*

As a rule, I don't date or hook-up with local women, but it's still embarrassing walking around and seeing the way these people are behaving.

As far as local opinions, I've heard it both ways, some think it's okay, some think it's exploitive and find it amusing when these guys get used-up.

What do you think?

I think it's a bit difficult because fundamentally, I think the underlying topic is class, and this same question could come up between two people from the same country, but say one is a doctor, and the other a janitor. We still have a power imbalance there. Or, partner A could be very good-looking, and maybe their partner is so-so, this situation could also result in a power imbalance.

supply and demand unfortunately.

those girls wanna get out of poverty.

those men want companionship, sex etc.

i think it’s disgusting and shameful that even underage kids are being taken advantage of by these dudes. you hear stuff about kids working in brothels, forced into marriages with old ass dudes etc some parents will even “sell” their own kid into the sex trade.

It’s not always forced. A lot of those women are very happy to have husband and family. I saw on SM this women from Philippines that married to polish guy ( she was about 30, he was almost 60 ) and she said she’s very happy and loves him.

by being forced, i meant the kids (underage girls getting pimped out, child brides, those indian kids in brothels etc) a 30 yr old woman can somewhat make well-informed decisions.

It’s a tale as old as time

Many weak men like to feel powerful over women who are disadvantaged and even disabled. I know men who literally seek out physically or intellectually disabled women, or otherwise women who are disadvantaged some way, socioeconomically or culturally. That’s what a passport bro is. Very common, go to any Asian country and see all the white western predators. Every dude who has this hero complex has a bunch of women who are incapable of caring for themselves in his wake. The dependence makes them feel important, strong, masculine even, and like they are “providing”. These women are often very easy for them to please due to their circumstances. Others like the control it affords them. It’s attractive to the male psyche… but who wants a relationship thats built on a financial or green card dependency? As far as I know, the divorce rate remains the same amongst these couples too 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess these guys like the probability that they’ll end up paying alimony.

and then there’s like cases like this where the foreign girl was never really “in love” to begin with (not surprising) and eventually hired a hit man to kill off the older husband so she could be with her lover (some local dude closer to her age).

it just kinda goes to show, you can’t buy love.

you can only buy temporary obedience. and maybe the “illusion”of love.

but i think that most of those dudes who go overseas aren’t really trying to find a wife to take under their wing. they’re just looking to have some discreet fun and take advantage of the women’s situations there. so that’s why society sorta looks down upon these dudes.

the girl in this story was apparently underage when they started “dating”.
