Ive had dreams over the years where i can step off the kerb and start floating upwards into the sky, like flying over houses and other buildings, very pleasant dreams actually as they make me feel free and limitless in them, its like theres no restriction and i can go as high as i want to with complete ease, in the opposite direction though ive had some quite unpleasant dreams, like trying to run from someone but im moving in slow motion, or trying to punch someone in a dream, but no matter how hard i try i cannot get any power behind the punches, very frustrating, ive also had dreams in the past of my body being abnormally heavy, like concrete heavy, and a terrible feeling in the dream, like a frightening feeling, ive had these since childhood and find the last ones very unpleasant.
This may sound laughable but i once was able to make myself wake from a dream that i did not want to experience anymore, it was like i was aware that i was just dreaming and knew that i could make it stop and so did, i only managed this once though, i must have been in some kind of inbetween state, between sleep and waking up i think.
I float and fly almost in every dream. But this flying is more like swimming in the air. Also it seems like I cannot get as high as I want. There seems to be a limit to my alttidue. Yes my punches never usefull in any dream. Frusturating? Indeed. I also use to fall very hard when I try to fly by jumping from a building that I wake up. In my dreams I always can change everything in my enviroument. I'm like God there.
Being able to change things in your dream sounds good, i also get a wierd sensation while drifting off to sleep sometimes which im sure everyone has experienced at some time.
Its that feeling that your falling, or about to fall and you jump and wake startled from your sleep, then drift back off into sleep again.
"Its that feeling that your falling, or about to fall and you jump and wake startled from your sleep, then drift back off into sleep again."
Moloko, that is one of my recurrent dreams..I also used to hate it at first b/c everytime I would wake up and feel kinda uneasy...but I've gotten used to it now.. I've read somewhere that the reason behind having this kinda dream is that your sense of balance changes when you fall asleep, which is why you dream you're falling.
you are all astral traveling and it is perfectly normal; we all astral travel several times a week. i was taught to do so by my sprit guide when i was about seven or so. (my earliest memory of seeing her and 'floating' in my dreams).
"Its that feeling that your falling, or about to fall and you jump and wake startled from your sleep, then drift back off into sleep again."
what you're feeling is your sprit or soul returning to your body after astral state. here is a great site if you want to learn more! happy travels (and beware of dark entities while you're in the astral state.)
Oh my god moloko...I experienced exact same things since I remember myself...I would walk in my dream and if there is a river or pond I would jump and float and then fly higher...but this is actually the scary part cause sometimes I would fly so high that I was afraid to look down...and yes I also could wake myself from a bad dream...I would just say "ah, I'm in my own dream now..." but it no longer works, don't know what happened...sometimes when I wake up it takes me few min to realize whether I'm still dreaming or not...once my friend called me in the morning to pick me up but I thought he called me in my dream, as a result he had to wait outside for half an hour till it hit me to call him and check if he called...buhh, he's really patient, I wouldn't have waited for so long...
Wow - 'I would fly so high that I was afraid to look down...' I can control the height I want to go - dad & I have the same dreams sometimes of flying. So strange sometimes because of the wind I have to stay at a certain level & not go any higher otherwise Ill go too high and not be able to come back down- Flying is hard too! Have picked people tthat I was resucing in my dream up too - that makes it really hard to get up untill you get to a certain level & then the wind does the work - Have the most bazaar dreams? Hey does anyone know what shaks in a dream mean?
My dream last night i was flying but i have to work at it like trying to jump in the air and when i get up high i start slowly going down i can never stay up. I either have to jump off a building so i can get higher it's so frustrating. I also run away from some one I upseted. In my dream i wanted to go some where with my friends but there was a limit of people going at once and i knew i will not find them if there out of site in my dream so i snuck pass him and jumped out of the window (that's where they went..). I fall on my back and start running i went to this building but i ran passed it and i knew the person was going to catch me if i stop to open the door. Well you get the point so yeah..
Those are just some of the flying dreams Gemini613 - Not sure what it means - I have had all sorts of different flying dreams - really high, really low, can't get off the ground, Have to bounce of roof tops to get back up, clinging onto windows & sides of buildings, jumping out of windows & sides of buildings, Hitting tree braches, carrying people that weighed me down, flying into space - the lot - they are my fav dream!!
I have mostly realisitc dreams but like every thing looks real. In my dreams if i eat some thing i can really taste i had chocolate last night in my dream YUM. Oh yeah back to the flying dreams.. well i don't fly to space or any thing and some times i have to jump of a building to get to fly higher. Some of my dreams i can fly high or low with no problem.
Most of my dreams consist of wings erupting from my back, and me feeling a sense of freedom I only 'dream of' LOL!!. I feel I have complete control, and feel so confident, and strong, that I just brim, and glow with a 'blue' energy. My dream starts me on a weird flying craft, and I close my eyes, and walk to the edge, and just feel so confident, I jump back, and fall; then a blue ring of energy is shot from my body, and sends clouds dispersing outward; then the wings come; big HUGE blue wings six of them; then they just hold me up!! I float, and dive until I am level with the ocean, and fly a hi speeds over it...I like that one...
I have the same kind of dreams, but i'm not exactly flying but floating. One was where i was trapped in a room in some high rise apartment block at night and i was in a 'Zero G' state, just floating there in the room. the room was rather twisted lol. Sort of out of focus.
Anyway towards the end of it i broke through the glass of this apartment, it was very high up and the night city lights were reflecting on to the building everywhere. And i just floated up into the sky. Wierd but very pleasing.
I can only fly for a few seconds up to a limited altitude in my flight dreams, but I did have this awesome dream where I was an aerobatic pilot and could pretty much fly as high and any way I want though. Too cool.
This is just way too weird. I had met someone this past winter that had told me they had these dreams, before then I thought my dreams of floating and flying were unique to me.
I want to know what this means, are we slated to fly? How can we all have such similar dreamS? It must have some deep spiritual if not psychological meaning, does anyone have any insight?
i was taught to do so by my sprit guide when i was about seven or so.
i found your post interesting, j. is your spirit guide still teaching you?
i am sure that i am still getting spiritual guidence from her, even though i don't remember my dreams well enough to know for sure or not. actually i have had some pretty crazy experiences/dreams involving astral travel ever since one of my best friends moved out of state last year. i started dreaming that i was on an unfamiliar college campus, and i'd see him there. he'd always be extremely happy to see me. i'd try and place which city i was in the state that i live in but whenever i'd look for distinct landmarks, they'd never be there. then this one time, i am in the middle of a dream and he shows up. right away this becomes a lucid dream and i introduce him to the characters in my dream and it sort of gets put on hold while i am talking to him; not unlike if he would've interupted a conversation in my waking life. so he stands off to the side, i stop lucid dreaming and this dream that i am having continues. now, this is the crazy part! they say that you cycle through 4 stages of sleep (this pattern can last between 90 and 120 minutes and repeats). i know that i wasn't in stage 4 or rem sleep. i see him lying there and but its not like i can feel his body is against mine. instead i see his spirit, (it's like a bust - i only can see him from the chest up) and he is surrounded by this whitish-gold glow. he's there looking at me and says to me, 'its ok, i am still here, go back to sleep.' so i do - i was never actually, consciously awake and i keep going through my sleep stages. i have dreams, i remember the context of these dreams so i can honestly say that these were two different things. this happens one more time, i see him lying there, and begin another dream, only now i am during the middle of it i feel this rustling, like when someone is moving next to you and you wake up momentarily. it felt like he was moving an arm out from underneath me. (i doubt if it was my partner since we don't sleep in close proximity to each other and he was at the other end of the bed, facing the opposite direction, snoring. this movement was on my left side, and my partner was on my right. and even if it were him, he would've said someting - apologized for waking me) i wake up, look around, and then at the clock, which reads 5:30 my time, or 6:30 his time - around the time he'd be waking up for work.
i have shared this on a few dream anaylsis sites looking for some answers and no one said anything about it.

i think we all fly/astral travel. in her books, sylvia browne gives an excellent discription of how this takes place and why. i don't believe in everything she says, but i do feel a lot of it is true. she gives much detail about astral travel to and from the other side as well as visitng people, etc. i have been experiencing phenomena all of my life and never had the answers to my questions until i started reading her books/watching her on tv. i have a greater sense of clarity now.
*its still me, i just decided to change my sceen name.
I have had the flying and falling dreams as well.. I think its pretty normal.. I remember being told when in grade school by a teacher about the 4 common dreams everyone in life has(scientific studies).. which are, Flying, Falling, under water( I think), and being in public place naked.. or so to speak.. I think I remembered them all.. and I also was told about the astro traveling.. and ppl do it and dont even realize it.. so.. 2 theorys to go on..

I've been having a recurring dream for about 12 years now. I may go a year or two with out having it, but once in a while it happens. I can't say that it's the exact same dream, but it has the exact same theme.
