Share your experiences with sleep paralysis.
Do you sense a demonic presence as well? Anything I've ever read about sleep paralysis usually, if not always, states the bouts come along with an evil presence.
I've had sleep paralysis for years. It happens often enough. I'll go through phases where in one month it might happen every other night, and then suddenly it will stop for a few months... ish. It really happens all the time but the severity is what really differs.
I talked to my brother about it a few yrs ago. He said I was just not getting enough sleep. As I was trying to explain to him that that couldn't be the reason, because I was getting plenty of sleep, suddenly his room was infested with spiders. No joke. I'm terrified of spiders. I ran out of his room screaming. There were a few dozen all over his ceiling, walls, his desk, his chair that he was sitting on. I swear they came out of no where. My brother vouches. As he was trying to kill all of them, he finally said to me... "maybe you do have a demon haunting you"
My brother told my older sister shortly after this horror scene, after he killed all of them, and they both fessed up that they never believed my sleep paralysis/demon visitor/astral projection stories up until that point.
I guess I'm making this thread because it happened again a few nights ago. I refer to the spirit as a demon. It would seem it's a male. I guess. I have no idea what it is, but it's usually the same dark spirit next to me as I'm laying and can't move. Not always, but usually. The next night I tried reading more about it. The internet is awesome and sucks all at the same time. But as I was reading, I heard a fly fly right by my ear. I was in my room, very clean room, in a very clean house. There are never flies in the house let alone my room. It was the evening. Everything was quiet. No idea where the fly came from. I looked around... and couldn't find it.
Flies are said to be associated with demonic presences. And there's no way I was hearing things. I consider myself pretty grounded. Not too long ago I posted about my sentiments on religion and christianity and how I at one point was a believer, and am now NOT and havent been because none of it makes sense to me any more. So I dont make this stuff up.
What gets me is that this "haunting" I suppose, has manifested itself physically a few times now. I have a hard time talking about it because let's be real, I SOUND CRA

dammit...
I sound CRAZY! -_-
This dark spirit has spoken to me before too. A few years ago, it showed up right next to my bed and started crawling slowly up onto me and as it was crawling he said in a very raspy throaty voice, "scream for heaven"
Two nights ago he was crouching next to me and pulling at my arm. In my head I was yelling at him to tell me who he was or what his name is. He just grinned at me.
And for those unfamiliar with sleep paralysis... it's essentially your body tripping up the physical state of REM when your body is still and doesnt act out dreams. Sleep paralysis is when your body is still stuck asleep and you are pretty much awake and conscious.
What I find fascinating about sleep paralysis is that most if not all who experience it say that there's an evil presence.
In my case, many times it doesnt happen just once during the night. It can and sometimes happens several times in one night to me. I've sorta figured out how to pull myself out of it, but there are times when I keep falling back into it... repeatedly. It's odd. I dont know if other's have similar experiences.
That "spirit" or whatever the heck it is was bothering me all night two nights ago, or for at least a couple hrs. Hard to say. It used to scare me so bad that I'd just stay up the rest of the night afterwards.
It still scares me now but I can usually get back to bed. Nowadays I can't afford to be up all night/morning.
You could argue that it's all a bad nightmare, but nightmares OR dreams dont ever pick up where they leave off if you wake up from it and then fall back asleep. That demon is always right back where he is when I fall back into SP. It's not "like" he's waiting for me... he IS waiting for me.

one particular bout of sp last fall... it was a lady that was sitting on my bed and she was yelling at me. she was heated about something. i couldn't make out what she was saying except that she was yelling at me to tell another woman something. so she wanted me to relay a message to someone. that's all i could understand. it's like her voice was distance but not.
so i told my bff about this and she and her hubby freaked out a little because he apparently used to see ghosts... sixth sense style , and he said that's what would happen to him.

This happens to me but I've never seen anything I just always fear I will never wake up and be in paralysis the rest of my life lol. That's all that creeps me out about it. That lack of control over my body. Laying there knowing your asleep but can't wake.... It happens to me a lot with my eyes open even!
I've had that sleep paralysis thing happen and it's soooo scary. I thought that I felt and heard things in the room when it happened but I think my imagination was just working overtime. It happened a lot more when I was younger. Very scary stuff... I was afraid to even click on the topic.

gary coleman probably is a demon. that smile of his creeps me out
in all technicality they are dreams, but mine definitely feel like they are more than just dreams or nightmares. they mimic reality heavily. and i'm extremely conscious through them.
when im in sp i see everything in my room as is when i wake up out of it. when it started happening to me.... jeez 15 yrs ago or so ...it confused the heck out of me because i always thought i was awake and just laying in bed staring at the window or something. then a figure would appear in front of me and suddenly i would realize that my eyes were actually closed yet i was looking at my room and myself as i was laying there, not able to move with some scary thing breathing down my neck. fully conscious of myself, the position i was laying in, and everything around me.
it happened while i was at my bf's place, bf at the time. this was '08. bf was in the living room with the tv on. so again i thought i was wide awake, fully conscious and thinking about an article i had read earlier. i heard the muffled tv, and him at his laptop typing. this is one of the first times the demon guy showed up. so suddenly this dark figure was in the corner of the room and i realized i was in sleep paralysis. i started freaking out and couldn't move and this figure is creeping up closer to me. i forced myself to wake up and weakly called my bfs name. i fell back into SP and that demon was right there again, slightly closer and still moving closer to me.
fortunately my bf did hear me so he walked in the room and woke me up... it's fucking weird because it's like i saw him walk in. at any rate, he wakes me up and i immediately started crying.
perhaps i'm hallucinating things? eeeesh... maybe i am crazy.

bling... yea i definitely try to consider all explanations... i still shy away from any religious ideas. and that explanation could be the one i need to consider most.
dreams and nightmares are indeed one thing but when odd stuff happens in broad daylight that people can attest to and begin to consider foulplay... i dont really know where to go from there. my brother used to throw spiders at me as a kid... prob one of the reasons i developed a fear of them. perhaps it was a mean joke again from him?
lol
considering how freaked out he himself was... i'm not sure. and i'm positive he would have fessed up by now. something grandiose like that, i would

many times.
i wish i could figure out a common denom as far as what causes it. there's no apparent rhyme or reason.
I think the fact that you get plenty of sleep is the very reason this happens a lot.
OMG no wonder I was so afraid of that story of "the Little Lady Who Swallowed a Fly"!!! That gave me nightmares!
I can picture exactly what you're saying though. Especially thinking you are lying awake and you see your room and something creepy suddenly appears or you hear a noise, etc. I thought I saw a football-sized grasshopper on the walls, and I am terrified of them.
I think the presense of evil is actually a reflection of our own fear. When I would go through sleep paralysis, the times I would be afraid of it- the "spirit" would be my mother walking in and sitting on the bed staring at me, and I would feel like she is not my mother. She is an evil spirit presenting itself as her. However, during the times I would try to be indifferent about it, I would feel four feet walking across the bottom of my bed, like a dog or large cat or something. I would literally feel vibrations/indentations in the mattress and hear the squeaks. Sometimes it'll suddenly jump on the bed or lay down. When this began to happen regularly, I became curious and kind of happy because I love animals, but then it wouldn't seem like an animal anymore. Now it would be me dreaming that I'm half-asleep, eyes half open (which is how I'm said to sleep in real life) and feeling a person come into the room standing next to me where I couldn't see, and kissing my temple. So I would really wake up, and my temple would feel very sensitive. I enjoyed this very much, so then it escalated into the person embracing me as we lay sideways. My arms would feel trapped in a good way, and my neck would feel like there was something close to it, where my hairs could feel static. I would feel weighed down as if a man's heavy arm was holding me. And I think I'm awake. So when I really wake up I feel an absence. I haven't had it in maybe a year or so but I long for it. Because my body feels so heavy yet my mind feels so awake, and somehow I channeled it romantically. I loved how senses are heightened and sharper in dreams. It had turned into a very sensual experience.

well that's the thing... it happens sometimes when im sleep deprived, and also when i'm sleep satisfied... there is no cause that i can point. it's been happening for years... when things are great and when things are not so great. i can never tell when it will happen or if it might happen... it just does and more often than not it's blind-siding.
i'm scared shitless at the onset, but if i'm stuck i do tend to get brazen and confrontational-minded. I can't actually do anything though accept think thoughts at it and try to will myself out of the sp... which i can do, but again... a lot of times when i fall back asleep the whole horror show picks up right where it was left off.
two nights ago, this thing wasnt really doing anything but just next to me. i was trying to scream at it. i woke up several times and each time i fell back in it was right there. i was trying to ask who he is and what his name is. or it. whatevs. and no nothing particularly bad or good happens before or after.
maybe ive asked what he wants at some point. i cant really remember, it's happened literally dozens of times. maybe more than a hundred. it's chronic. but i've tried many things... i've asked it to go away, begged and cried. i've tried confronting it. it wont go away if i ask it to, but creepily enough if I ask it to show up, it will. very very creepy... and because it seems to answer my call... i am very very careful with what i ask.
A couple years ago a friend suggested that I confront it. So I tried. Before bed, I asked it to show up and it did. that's another reason why im not buying into the scientific reasoning either. me asking a spirit to manifest itself to me before i even get sleepy isnt why my brain's wiring is tripping up in and out of REM.
oh... and i quit coffee awhile ago. coffee can very easily mess with your sleep patterns.

Well I'd probably sound more cray saying this, but I do believe you. Suffice to say science can explain away sleep paralysis and chalking it up to your 'dream' overlapping into reality which is why there's a haunting sensation upon waking up with no ability to control your body. That in itself is pretty scary
Both sides of my family practice in the occult, paganism and shamanism and a lot of that involves the spiritual world. All of us have certain charms and reinforce a protection circle upon sleeping. Above all we also re-enforce our own spiritual barrier because we all have it, those with weaker barrier are generally the ones who can see or feel their presence. It doesn't mean it's bad it might just mean you are more attuned to the spiritual world than you thought.
My knowledge is they want something from you or you are inadvertently drawing it to you some how. Perhaps some life changing event or something happening recently? Have you always lived where you are now? Peculiar past experiences etc these can probably all explain it.
You mentioned astral projection, if you can do that with ease just by merely thinking I'd say you are pretty well attuned. I'd say try and focus and remove the fear and commune with it. If you're familiar with guardians or spirit guides/animals etc and if you have found yours try to summon them.
Circles Are a great thing if you're still worried. Open your minds eye and cast the circle for protection, crystals will always retain these energies. No deities are out of the question. Signed Up:

Also Creepy! Can you describe this spirit for me? For the sake of sounding really typical charmed style , we do have a family archive of it. Can you also describe what it does or what you see in detail?

i may be prone to astral projection. i had to see a therapist a few years ago for a work incident and she had me close my eye to guide me through a meditation... 20 seconds in i had to stop her because the whole room was shaking and spinning on me. she said she'd heard that thats how astral projection starts.

*eyes*
just a dark figure.... sometimes with glowing yellow eyes. but more often just a simple dark figure of a man. he's hovered over me. stood next to me. crouched next to me. he's crawled almost on top of me once. he was floating up in a corner a few years ago... long before the movie insidious. he's tried pulling me off my bed a number of times.

to some extent I sorta want to play up on what xy said, we are pisces moons after all we tend to absorb energies. But what you said was alarming to me because the spirit was actually touching you which probably means it's more aggressive than others, do you feel yourself being snuffed out around its presence?
If you do want pick a night of a full moon and set about communicating. I think you're right about not wanting to ask the wrong questions I'd probably just figure out WHY it is there. I'll get back to you, I don't have the family archive because it stays with my sister.
But I agree with lots of what's been said here. Up the defenses spiritually they cannot invade your personal space if you will it, they are ethereal forms and you are physical, you can command presence over them.

aquas, what do you mean by snuffed out? what you just said about me being real and a physical being and that they are not is what makes me a little more at ease about all of it. bugs suck... but im bigger than those too. however, it is pretty aggressive to say the least.
those instances when he's really lingering around are the ones that i need to figure out. SP sounds by def like a hiccup, more or less. But when this figure is repeatedly aggravating me, and when i keep falling back into SP over and over again in the same night... wtf is that? seriously.
and for those who haven't experienced it, the onset of SP happens one of two ways for me... either i am in it and dont realize it til something crazy happens, OR the sensation is similar to astral projection where everything around me including myself starts vibrating and shaking. it feels like when you get a chill down your spine, but prolonged... minutes almost and for me at least, it just keeps happening. REALLY uncomfortable.
as for my spirit and empowering my energy... i've always considered it strong, yet open i guess.
are there big changes in my life? there are always big changes in my life. the past 3+ yrs have been quite the ride, but i honestly dont feel this is a cause, but it may be an element. i put myself out there in life, so things happen. inevitably good always comes with some bad. that mindset is part of who i am and i do think it makes me a target for happenings in the physical world and apparently the spiritual world.
i want to know what are they, what do they want, why me... and is this dark figure the same frequent visitor, and wtf is that all about?

Do you feel feint and drained or even to an extent things just seem dimmer around you? Sort of like whether its asserting force on you... hmm trying to find the word but I don't think draining would be the right word.
I would go about setting some sort of protection in place just so you feel safer. My sis hasn't gotten back to me yet so I'm sorry
I experienced similar when I was a kid, my grandma took care of it for me back then but she described it to me as having a weak spot that they sensed. Going through a couple of rough years may have caused the barrier to wain *shrugs* try using the techniques you described to Astral project but project it back on yourself and see what you find.
As for communing with it, I can't really describe it or explain it fully and knowing you probably don't follow this practice
Best I can relate it to is Ouija Board or some medium to communicate through. As always though others will probably agree, there needs to be protection set up. I may sound very strange but shortly after I discovered what sleep paralysis is (I did this via research on google and learning about Lucid dreaming by watching ReeceJones87's channel) I went to sleep on the couch and in my dream something dark was chasing me, yet I felt as though I was still awake, the numbers 666 kept running through my head - I felt quite scared but for some reason I couldn't wake up or get out of that dream, but this "dream" or whatever it was was set in the same room in which I thought I fell asleep in. Just sharing my experience. Can anyone else resemble this?
Hey there. I've had sleep paralysis since i was a young teenager and at one point i did look it up, i was 19 or so. I started reading about it and my sleeping pattern was awful. So i had it a few nights in a row... What i gathered from the internet is that the causes are:
1. Bad sleeping patterns (going to bed very late or not getting enough)
2. Bad eating habits (eating a lot before bed, etc)
3. Sexual frustration
I had all 3 at the time. In my case my whole body would get paralyzed, i would have a very loud high pitch noise in my head and sometimes my teeth would chatter badly.. I would feel like a bit harder and they would fall off. Sometimes I would feel like there's a knife going into my side, well, that's the only thing i can try and compare the pain to. It was probably because i sleep with my leg to the side and my skin would get sore or something.
Sometimes i do feel a presence of something/someone. Sometimes i very vividly feel things done to me, like once i had a dream that my friend was there talking to me then something dragged me off the bed by my foot and dragged all over the floor... Sleep paralysis is weird, i haven't figured out if it has anything to do with demonology or if it's just in your head.
In your case - spider infestation happens. When a mommy gives birth - there are tons and tons of little spideys, i saw one giving birth right on my bloody wall.... I do believe that because you think about it a lot - you go to bed and you can't fully relax and you see what you think about. You almost want it to happen... You want answers, you see yourself asking questions. I had the same, i tried asking - no reply haha.
But anyway, have a read about it some more, most people say sleep paralysis is harmless. I stopped having it when i got 2 of the 3 causes sorted out haha and the third in time also. Had it a couple of times not long ago, but not as bad. Once i even just fell asleep in it.
Tip not to have it a few times a night - when you wake yourself up, make sure you sit up and wake up a bit before going back to sleep. If i wake up from sleep paralysis and close my eyes again - i fall right back into it.
Hope this helps, keep us posted

the spiders weren't babies. and how do you explain away the fact that we'd been sitting in the room for a while, my brother... probably had been sitting there for veritable hrs and suddenly they werent just all over the wall and ceiling... but they were also on his desk that he was sitting at, on his chair that he'd been sitting ON. very suddenly.
well it happened again last night. but i will say that my sleep patterns have been off this last week. i've been lethargic through the day. i did start my cycle, so i know thats part of the reason why i'm so tired. blech...
i'm actually really tired of trying to figure it out anymore. the experiences aren't always sleep paralysis... sometimes it's body tremors. it started out as sp, but more and more there's another weird physical sensation that's hard to describe... almost like a spasm. and it doesnt bother me for just a moment... sometimes it's for a few hours. AND i can move around. AND there's a dark shadowy figure. AND it can happen anywhere, no matter who's with me. it's happened in broad daylight while i was on a couch at my friends place.
last night it started out as sp then turned into body tremors and i was able to move around. i was kinda tossing fitfully. the shadow was next to me pulling at my shoulder at first. then it was more or less floating above me. i wasn't as ballsy last night to get confrontational.

i am relaxed
but it is pretty hard to explain. and i'm a big advocate of things not materializing out of thin air myself. however, id sooner believe a ghost did it than a real live human being would do it, tbh.
stress....this last week i have been! Yes! I've been stuck in sleep paralysis before.. had a demon screaming at the top of its lungs directly at my face. I couldn't move for 5-8 seconds while he was piercing his eyes into my soul. Holy fuck did I jolt out of bed quick lol. I never knew what sleep paralysis was until I started researching astral projection. I've been practicing astral projection for the past month. I've gotten to the point where my ears start to buzz and I feel my spirit float up. I keep messing up the experience from over astonishment. The pressure in my chest, the buzzing, and weightlessness convinced me that its truly possible to induce. I'm going keep practicing.

I have had sleep paralysis before and believe me when I say I pray to God that I will never have it again. It is a terrible experience of soul blasting fright. Several times what has happened is I will be in a dream and it will all the sudden freeze up and I will be like "oh crap here it come" and sure enough I wake up but cannot move. Then, in the midst of the fear which can really only be described as demonic, I would try to scream for my family but could not scream for a little while, after which a pathetic little moan comes out of my mouth, which in itself is one of the scariest parts.
There was one time that I actually saw a dancing skeleton on the side of my bed and there have been a few times where I felt something breathing on my neck, but most of the time its been me and the awful feeling of blasphemous fear in a dark room. I did a little research on it and saw that one cause can be sleeping on the back. I have not been sleeping on my back for about the past year now and so far so good.
I think the explanation is a bit scientific and paranormal. We may have grown out of calling things spirits and demons but in my opinion energy definitely does exist and your body gives that energy form as sensations. In dreams that can be translated into monsters. I think the position you sleep in affects how open the body is to outside energy and that is why sleeping on the back causes it to happen. So. all in all, even though I have never intentionally practiced astral projection I believe there is something to the concept AND I WOULD NOT advise anyone to practice it. SERIOUSLY. Have some respect and fear for what ever the supernatural might be and don't let it come in to YOUR friendly little body.

You described my experiences to a tee! I never sleep on my back if I can help it. I think our spirits are exposed somehow when we sleep on our back.
When I wake up in this state......I pray to God and the spirit goes away!!!!!
I'm so freaked out that others are experiencing this too

I've had it happen, and have had a super loud demonic-sounding voice shouting or laughing at me, while I'm totally paralyzed. It really is terrifying. I have come back around to accepting religious ideas for various reasons, since being a devout atheist most of my adolescent life, but I'm not sure there's something religious going on here. It might just be your fears playing out while your consciousness is lucid, but your motor functions are still shut down. In a normal person, the brain shuts down most motor function so we aren't bouncing around our bedrooms cracking our skulls during our dreams. So that paralysis may be a vestige of that function, even though a nightmarish sort of experience is still playing out. The experience of being conscious and also *trapped* is enough to cause your brain to fill in scary content.
However, there are enough credible ghost/haunting stories, etc. to lead me to believe there is some really weird shit going on out there, so who knows....
Good points tauruslovesscorpio. If anyone else has anything to share please do! I love this topic.

I started having sleep paralysis in my early twenties. Only until recently did I try and read about it. Before that I thought for sure it was some kind of demonic spirit trying to suck my soul or something crazy. Apparently it comes from disrupted sleep patterns which can happen for a number of reason depending on whats normal for you.
Any how the first time I can remember it happening I was napping in my room. And saw what looked like a tall man wearing all black, black hoodie, also his face was a black shadow. He looked as if he was kind of watching me sleep and I couldn't move at all or wake up fully. I was so scared after this and lit sage all over the house.
Recently the last time it happened I woke myself up screaming "get the fuck off". I saw a big dog that looked like a great dane sitting on my chest. I couldn't move and although I was trying to scream no sound was coming from my mouth. The dog slowly took one paw off of me and as he started to take the other one off it turned into a man. And then I woke up again screaming get the fuck off. Its absolutely terrifing! I know when it happens my sleep schedule of usually off. But this is crazy I wonder why it only happens to some?
Wow.....that must of been terrifying. Your right about the sleep patterns. I actually had my experience when I was suffering from sleepless nights because of a stressful job I had. I think many ppl have similar experiences but they just shrug it off as a bad dream the next morning.

my very first incident of sp, i heard little children laughing next to my bed, then suddenly a heavy arm slumped over onto my chest and pressed down really hard... to the point i couldn't breath. i think i was 15 at the time and after a few long moments of struggling to snap out of it, i came out gasping for air and scared shitless. i'd had sleep apnea before, so that i was sorta used to. and that it was my first sp, i chalked the whole thing up to a combo of a creepy lucid dream of uncanny resemblance to reality mixed in with my sleep apnea.
i think i'm just a tad connected to the spiritual world. more and more ...those are my thoughts on all of it.
when i was at my grandfather's wake this last week (he passed away a week ago) i walked into the viewing room... feeling fine ...walked up to my family. everyone was standing around socializing and talking. nobody was terribly distraught at the time. i wasn't, or i definitely didnt feel emotionally drained. i just walked up to join my fam's convo, stood next to my younger sister, smiled and was about to chop it up with her when i felt this very VERY weird sensation between my ears. very suddenly. it essentially felt like something passing from one ear to the other. it was disorienting for a millisecond and i almost felt like i was going to fall over. if i were to try to describe how it felt... it was like the feeling of being next to a large subwoofer that changed position from my right side to my left side as it let out a "soundless" boom. then it went away. half a second tops.
possible psychological or stress induced incident from emotional trauma? sure. but still... how strange.

CP, you definitely need clarity on that first being that it's bothering you and then proceed to rid yourself of it once and for all. This spirit has open access to you and from what I have heard about these kind of things, the access they have has been granted, there's always consent. Either you personally got involve in something that opened up the doors to it or someone down your family tree (parents, grand parents ect) who was deeply involved in something given access to you. Maybe you want to have an open conversation on it with your parents and if you're not comfortable doing that, there are experts out there who can look into that for you. The other option could be that you are in a demonic location or maybe wearing something carrying that spirit with you but reading your story, it's not likely, since you've been having that experience since you were a child, I think it could be some generational access given directed at you. Ask your parents how much they know for start, they may be more aware than you think. Seek expert help for sure.
I think there is alot to what Ray is saying about the possibility of a familial link. At least that is what I'm sure is happening to me. My mother in law seems to be associated with demons. That would sound almost comical if it weren't true. My wife and I have had several experiences with and around her not to know that she is the source of what (at least the majority of the source) of what is going on. Recently here influence on me has taken the form of SP episodes. They start like this: Generally I hear noises like someone is breaking into the house or the garage. I try to get up and go investigate but cannot move. I spend some time trying to kick and scream or to wake up my wife all to no avail. And a couple of times now I then look over to see some visually disturbing demonic presence. The first time it was a young woman shaking her head violently like in one of the horror movies. Apparently that one hasn't gone out of style for the demon that is trying to scare the crap out of me. Last night it was the same old thing - noises, people trying to break in, me wanting to get up and can't, but this time I looked up and saw my cat sitting on my chest doing the violent wobbly head dance. It wasn't really my cat. My cat is a little saint (mostly). But I sure it's the demon associated with the mother in law again. From what we can tell she let them into the family lineage somehow. Maybe it didn't even start with her. But we do know she's associated with these things and by default my wife and I are karmically dealing with this now. Don't really know what to do. Still trying to research it and experiment. The not sleeping on the back helps but hard to control sometimes. One other tip that is for sure. Do whatever you can to not be afraid. This is what it is trying to accomplish. My feeling is if and when I become entirely unafraid it will have nothing to trigger...
Yeah I have it pretty regularly and there is usually a demonic presence. It used to scare the butter out of me but now I'm used to it so...not so much. Usually it's shadow demons that I have to fight off with my mind. I have noticed that recently in paralysis I am doing less of trying to move and more of trying to talk. Of course I can't!
It disturbs my sleep quite a bit. I'm pretty sure I have a sleep disorder.
I have some bouts of paralysis that do not have any demonic presence. These are the ones where it feels like I am trying to rise up out of my body. The rise is accompanied my a loud, vibrating hum. I can never fully get out of my body so it's a feeling of rising and sinking to the hum over and over again. It's very strange but I don't really mind these kind because I can sometimes use them to lucid dream. They make me very tired when I wake up yhough
I just read more of this thread. I was work when I posted earlier so I didn't get to read too much. Creepypants I'm so glad that you made this thread. I have always wanted to talk about it with other people who have it but I don't know ANYONE in my life who has experienced it before. I believe that it is probably hereditary. My dad doesn't have it but he does have other significant sleep issues, as do I. From what I have read it happens to most people at least once in their life.

This doesnt happen to me but it does to my boyfriend. The first night he slept over my house he had one of these night terrors. I was layin next to him and i could feel him tense up, it actually woke me up. Then he started breathing weird and then he woke up. I asked him and he told me about it. He explained it like his mind is up, but he cant wake his body up. He feels like he cant breathe. And the thing about the evil or dark presence. He said sometimes he hears something whispering in his ear, sometimes its just the feeling of something bad i guess.
I looked it up and it said the treatment sometimes is antidepressants. Apparently, if you have this condition and are sad or stressed out, you have more episodes. He was having them 3-4 times a week before he met me. He had a bad break up with his ex and was hung up on her for months. He hasnt had one for a while. Hopefully because hes happy
does anyone that experiences this notice any triggers?
my father used to have those kind when he was younger. my mother used to tell me about how he'd wake up sweating and panting because his nightmare was closing in on him. anything could be straining a person, be it something in his life like their career, someone at the office bothering them, someone that was close to you died, or left you, and you're in this consistent cycle. It is worse if someone has an addiction, because the addiction is a pattern. You are forever stuck in the cycle.Signed Up:

I've had sleep paralysis before but was when I was going through a drug psychosis period which lasted a year so I had night terrors I would wake up drenched in sweat or screaming and my family would not be able to wake me up from them??_??_in my dreams Id be laying in bed staring at the roof and Id hear the toilet door creak open an a shit zombie "A poo coloured zombie that to my knowledge has just climbed out of the toilet" crawls in on the floor and climbs up the end of the bed and grabs my foot and I feel my leg starting to burn and rot??_..once Ive pulled myself out of sleep It takes me hours to even lay down again and fall asleep cos I hate the feeling.
Its been 5 years and now I can say I have the best dreams I've ever had

Hey JD
I haven't visited this thread in a while. It's not bothered me since last spring really ??_not uncommon for it to disappear so long.
Someone had recommended sage rubbing, so I did that to the house I'm in and I mean??_ not sure if that worked or not. So far it seems to have.
I have a few connections through friends of spiritual and energy guides who I will ask about it.
Again, it's one of those things that happens at random. Right now I'm on a down swing with all of it. Or up swing??_ however you wanna look at it. So I don't feel the panic or urgency to research and solve issues. My fingers are crossed that it's over!
Growing up, I'd always been a sceptic of things like this. Even into young adulthood and adulthood. It's been these happenings that has swayed me into the paranormal world. Some of it is just so real. And some of these happenings ARE real!
at any rate??_ hope you've been well. xoxoSigned Up:

This is a difficult topic. I think that when you are vulnerable and going through very stressful times attacks are more prevalent. Just know that you are not alone.

Share your experiences with sleep paralysis.
Not too long ago I posted about my sentiments on religion and christianity and how I at one point was a believer, and am now NOT and havent been because none of it makes sense to me any more. So I dont make this stuff up.
I'm so sorry you're experiencing this, sleep paralysis can be very unsettling. I believe I've only experienced it twice, so I'm lying in bed and my Aunt and my cousin are kind of fussing, sometime between my Aunt getting her down I fell asleep and awoke to feeling like something was physically restraining me down. I couldn't scream for help, I couldn't speak, it was like there was a choke hold on my throat and my tongue had been taken from me.
Then last night, I had a similar experience where I woke up to feel like something was breathing on me, and was sucking the air or life out of me. I could feel the air slipping from my lips and I couldn't speak, I couldn't scream, and I felt pinned down.
What I've noticed is that in both incidents, there was a lot of negativity before me going to bed. Last night, I fucked around and was reading a LOT of stuff on the illuminati and possession and what not. Freaked me out nonetheless and as a result before going to bed it was all I could think about.
I do believe that those experiences I had, had a lot to do with the negative tension I felt before falling asleep. But when you say you don't believe in religion or Christianity does that mean you no longer believe in God, Heaven, Angels, etc?
With all due respect to your personal religious beliefs, I just have one thought: If you can believe in Demonic forces, why wouldn't you believe that there is a God? Both are of the spiritual realm and the unseen world--which by the sounds of it, you are getting a glimpse of.
I don't necessarily profess to following religion anymore like I use to but I will always believe in God because I personally do believe that the spiritual world is real.Signed Up:

What is the benefit of astral projection? Maybe I'm being too scary here but I've never been interested in trying it because of things like sleep paralysis, and quite frankly I have no interest in seeing the spirit world. I guess I've always believed astral projection opens doors.Signed Up:

You described my experiences to a tee! I never sleep on my back if I can help it. I think our spirits are exposed somehow when we sleep on our back.
When I wake up in this state......I pray to God and the spirit goes away!!!!!
I'm so freaked out that others are experiencing this too
You're so right. Sorry I keep posting here, but dxp won't let me include each quote...anyway I've noticed both times it happened I was asleep on my back, I definitely think there is truth to it. I also believe in prayer, although you can't physically call out to God's name, I know that when I think and say it repeatedly over and over in my spirit all returns back to normal.
But I think what has to be a part of the ingredients for sleep paralysis to happen is a spirit of fear or some sort of negative tension has to be around before going to sleep, then add the sleeping on the back and boom perfect combination. OP whatever is the cause, I would suggest stop trying to communicate with it when it happens (although I see you said it hasn't happened since the spring of 13). I just think the asking it what it wants only continues to feed its energy or fuel its want to feed off of your energy maybe?
