Is it true that Geminis (compared to other people) often buy two of something instead of one? Although I am obviously a Virgo I seem to have an instinct to buy two or three of something instead of one when I go shopping so perhaps it is a general "Mercury" thing. I don't mean two big things like computers or whatever, but like groceries or stationery or whatever day-to-day things, I seem to feel more secure if I buy two or three of something instead of one. (Maybe for a Virgo (Earth) sign this partly has to do with the idea of "stocking up on things"!)

It would depend on what it is... Some things, yes and some, no. *shrugs*

Nah not really. altho i tend to buy two different things at once, not just one item. I have this review system built in once I reach the cashier I ask myself if each item is a worthy buy - if it turns up with some usefulness i'll go ahead and get it rung up, if not i toss it out of my shopping bag.

Sounds more like a Virgo trait. Being cautious, storing up, that kind of thing.
I always like to have two cats, though, so they can keep each other company.
I tend to think more in pairs for companionship, even for the animals.

I don't do this at all... except with pets. I have to have at least two of each type of animal so that they can keep each other company.

Not a Gem, but I will buy more than one of something if it's a good sale (then again, I don't typically purchase anything unless it is on sale unless I absolutely need it).
