Insecure leos do the things that you described but there are many balanced and ration leos. Infact i think we are the least aggressive out of the fire element due to the fixed modality. Fixed lends patience and stability to the element.
Mercury is simply a messenger of the sun. you should not be so arrogant and foolish. leos have great gifts but they were also given a great burden which is very difficult at times to deal with and subdue. The ego is not easy to deal with.
