Gems??To respond, or not to respond - Tis the ?

This topic was created in the Gemini forum by SoooGem on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 and has 13 replies.
I was looking at another post ???Must be the moon?? where the person wanted to know why Gems board have been basically dead, or seem to have a lack of people posting, and so I thought about the reasons that make me respond or not respond to various posts, and thus the concept for this post.
What makes you respond, or not respond to particular posts? - For me, the following reasons dictate:
Response:
1. Post is legible (as in, I know you went to grade school at least. Where are your commas, question marks, periods, you at least attempt to spell correctly, etc.).
2. Post makes common sense (this shouldn??t need an explanation).
3. Post is not worded like a third grader wrote it. (slang is okay, personal style of talking is okay, but please do communicate like an adult).
4. Post is comical smile (for me, this almost dictates a response)
5. To show some love??_or give support.
No response:
1. Rudeness in asking or telling (come on, do I really need to explain this?).
2. Total and belligerent bashing of another, without justifiably stating what the ???Read Deal?? is (as in, don??t precede to come telling us ???He/she is bla bla bla,?? and they do?? bla bla bla?? ???He/she is the worst person in the world, a lowlife, never amount to anything, useless, piece of crap?? etc. In my opinion, the other person didn??t just get that way overnight, you obviously saw the shit when you first hooked up, or at the least, the person had some redeeming qualities for why you dealt with them in the first place. Just sayin).
3. You made two, three, or more post to ask the same question, except you worded it a different way, all because you didn??t like the answers you got on the initial post.
4. I just don??t know (as in we can??t all know everything about everything. I am a Gemini and I still understand this principle. If I know I don??t have a clue about what is asked, there is no point to post.
5. Clear and obvious evidence that the person who posted is half ass telling the story (there are two sides to every story. If you know you did some foul shit to contribute to the situation, be real and own up)
6. I just don??t like you (as in, I have read a lot of the BS you post and quite frankly find you ignorant and a total waste of space on the board. I??m not even going to bother to go to your thread when I see your name as the poster of that thread, just sayin).
I am not really asking for the reasons such as, I have been busy, away from the forum for awhile, etc...I am more so looking for the logics of what dictate why you will or will not respond to certain posts. (I mean, of course we all won't respond to every topic, so I know this)
i love this thread! such a great idea! smile
#'s 2, 4 and 5 will get me to post almost all the time! but, i would like to add...
1. if there will be a learning experience involved. (whether it be for another, or for me.)
2. if someone needs, or wants, genuine help.
3. if there's a post where i know the poster can find the info they are looking for, i will help that person to enable themselves... just cuz it will make them feel better if they accomplished the task themselves and with little direction/help.
for non-posting....
#'s 1-5 pretty much cover it!! altho, i will post, sometimes, if i feel someone needs to be reminded that we are all human and have flaws....

Hey Misslissa,
Ooooh, you came up with a few on both sides if the coin that I didn't consider. I definitely support your #2
spelling should be *of* not "if"
Dont wanna break my own rule #1 rule...hehe
I respond if I actually have some experience about the issue at hand and feel I can add something useful. Or if I want to defend someone. That's about it.

Yes, very good reason for not responding. Many times I have read some post that were actually interesting, and actually adhere to my guidelines for reasons why I will post, however, I do not make comments because I lack the knowledge, or should I say, i know this is something out of my league...but i will still return to the post to see how others responded or what the outcome was.

I was just bored with the whole thing, to be honest..nothing against anyone in particular...I grew out of it.

well, i'm glad you're back!! smile but, i do understand what you're saying. i will also take periods of time away from here, too.
Those reasons make a lot of sense. You can save yourself a lot of time if you follow that logic.
For me...
I will almost always respond if the topic seems interesting and I think I can add something of interest.
I will refrain from posting if I think it's a waste of time (i.e. topic is boring or I have nothing "good" to say).
Thinking about reasons I might NOT respond:
-The post is really lengthy and takes to long to get to the point (my attention wanders)
-I've already responded to a similar post, or posts, in the past...and said my peace.
-The post is about a text or online relationship (sorry if I'm old, but I don't consider those real relationships)
-The thread becomes mean-spirited
-The posters are taking gleeful delight in talking about genitals, sex, etc. I got that out of my system in grade school and it's not as shocking and naughty as you wish it was- just boring.
Oh yes the mad ranting and ravings of the gemini. I think the problem is none of the gemini want to see anyone else go off on a tangent, its like the afterbirth to them.
^^yea, but you were still missed... smile
Those other signs have time to be posting threads that have no meaning to them hence why I don't comment on all I guess we Gemini are just too intellectual we need excitement on the forums. we don't have time to be posting up things of no knowledge we need that spark too lift the Gemini soul...
