Posted by Mr_PinchyYeah sad.. i heard about his stepping down from his role from our internal newsletter at work.. then after a few days later he died.
Ugh i was half sad when i heard the news. The man really did a fantastic 180 on FIAT. Turned a company of that size around, absorb another company of somewhat similar size and turn it around (Chrysler) to make one of the biggest car companies in the world.
I will say i don't like what was done to Maserati in this restructuring. It's a Ferrari-Lite, by corporate decree no Maserati can ever be more powerful or exclusive as a Ferrari......it's a very rigid hierarchy with which they tried to ensure no brand overlapping and consequentially in house competition happens.
Posted by fishcrabscale2Hmmm, honestly idk how it is with technical innovation, investment in it and alike but i kind of wouldn't discount Italians on not being close to or where there's trends at.Posted by Mr_PinchyYeah sad.. i heard about his stepping down from his role from our internal newsletter at work.. then after a few days later he died.

Italians arent our customer. They dont charge forward into tech innovations as much a germans/US/jp auto makers i guess or they do home-brew all their techs in-house?
But he is a legend in the auto industry. You might not agree with his strategy, but it worked to get the $ $ $ . This industry is a shark-infested waters.click to expand

idk, Italy is a second largest industry in Europe, only Germany is bigger, the country will host the only foreign factory for a mega billion dollar new military jet project that's going into operation (only a country with a suitable cluster of subindustries supporting the factory and well developed infrastructure-so hallmarks of a technologically advanced nation would get this deal), their space sector punches above it's weight constantly.....click to expand
Posted by fishcrabscale2lol Tesla. This Shanghai thing is the last hope for them imho. But if Trump's tit for tat exchange of tariff boosts continue for much longer, the Chinese will say no to Musk and prefer to promote their own or other JV brands.Posted by Mr_PinchyPosted by fishcrabscale2Hmmm, honestly idk how it is with technical innovation, investment in it and alike but i kind of wouldn't discount Italians on not being close to or where there's trends at.Posted by Mr_PinchyYeah sad.. i heard about his stepping down from his role from our internal newsletter at work.. then after a few days later he died.

Oh i dont know about this military jet project. Interesting. The only times i hear anything from aero industry are from people from toulouse who crossed over from airbus to working for german auto-related techs. I'll root for other industry players tho besides germany at this point because of personal resentment against some backhanded business practices they do. And i wish Trump would just stop his tarriff/trade war and the rest of americans shut up and do their work because i still want them in the game. Because of this stupid tarriffs, Tesla is setting up its biggest manufacturing company in Shanghai. I hope they can still catch up. I hope the trade war wont bury the Detroit car makers. Here's to GM 💪click to expand
Posted by Mr_Pinchy😓 he is going crazy indeed. Megalomaniac? Sigh. Germans create so many partnerships with Chinese tech companies to do their thing. And you wont hear about it. They are quiet, smart strategists.Posted by fishcrabscale2lol Tesla. This Shanghai thing is the last hope for them imho. Dude is going crazy anyway, the last stunt he pulled was..umm....there was this recent -boyscouts trapped in cave in Thailand- thing a few weeks back.....they were somehow trapped in a cave system which required a few hours of underwater swimming involved to get to them.
So, Musk, needing a positive publicity stunt to avert attention from Tesla's problems arrives in Thailand with a robotic submarine all ready to assist in the rescue.
The rescue operation commander politely declines this offer of help. Musk goes on Twitter to accuse him of being a pedo. He later apologized but still....
#edit: i checked just now, it was a rescue member (not leader) who called Musk out on PR stunt thing and Musk later accused him.click to expand
