As of Saturday, I am a vegetarian...lol

I'm so serious.

Shouldn't be too hard for me, as I love vegetarian dishes. My only fear is that I won't get the appropriate amount of protein or iron. I nibble on trail mix throughout the day, but I'm quite sure this is not sufficient.

Anyway, I'll let you know how long this lasts, haha.

Meantime, give me suggestions to keep me motivated.

P.S. I've been forbidden from eating soy, so that's out. Sad
Pesca vegetarian
Ok.

Well, I stumbled. Saturday I only had palak paneer and a veggie corndog. Sunday was leftovers and cereal. Then Monday and Tuesday, I fell to temptation. Sad Since Wednesday, I've stuck to tuna, shrimp, etc.
Pray for my strength. lol
Aurora pretty much got everything on point. Snack on different types of nuts because they have good fats and protein.
Quinoa is another type of rice (not really a rice) but it's supposed to be really nutritious.
Also, if you go really heavy into the vegetarian diet make sure you supplement Vitamin B12 in some way since pretty much all sources of vegetables and stuff don't contain B12 and the human body can't produce B12.
Thanks so much, guys. You're all helpful.

Yea, I tend to snack of trail mix throughout the day, and carry black bean/split pea soups to work for lunch. Not to mention, I keep long grain rice in the fridge always. My only concern is that I am also taking selenium, which can be found in nuts, as I understand it. And with selenium, one must be very careful not to exceed the recommended dosage, or it can cause poisoning. I'll figure it out.

""Is it that hard?""
Not really. Perhaps more costly, but worth it, I hope.

P.S. I'm not like, a health-freak or anything, lol. I mean, I'm not one of those ppl who ODs on meds/supplements. I just have a condition that's neither well-understood nor widely researched, so I kinda feel like I'm on my own when it comes to some stuff. I have an acupuncturist who's awesome, but even she doesn't know some things. And of course, I know my body better than she does.

But yea, thanks again.
Hey SS,
I too have been a Vegetarian for quite awhile now (best thing I have ever done for my body and well being). Don't know if you are aware of the Company, Peaceful Planet - they have an awesome Superfood Shake (contains Non-GMO pea protein) that you can either aquire in a health food store or order (may be cheaper online) directly from the Co. @

I have this Supreme Meal each AM and add to it, 2 tblsp. ground flax seed - LOVE IT!
Best of Luck to you!
P.S. thought you may also want to know that it contains, Quinoa, Millet, Amaranth and 17 grams of soy - free protein.

i'm a pescatarian too! high five!
how's the diet coming along ss?
They got that Spirulina stuff too which is supposed to be really really good for you. Not sure if it's expensive or not and it also comes in capsule form although I would think drinking it straight up when it's fresh is best.
ive been a vegetarian for about 13 years. i eat fish now but i didnt use to...just make sure to take a dmv everyday. how come you arnt eating soy?
i havent been eating alot of red meat either lately....oh wait beef jerky is red meat , i am not giving it up but ive been eating alot of salmon and mahi lately....at least four nights a week. love seafood...if i had too i would have no problem eating only fish for protein.
My acupuncturist strongly recommended that I avoid soy, mainly because it is not well-researched.

As far as my progress, well, let's just say I am a part time pesca vegetarian, lol. So, pretty much 4 days out of the week or so, I successfully avoid poultry. I've never been a big red meat eater to begin with...

Thanks for asking. smile
