do you have or know anyone with bi polar disorder also was it diagnosed later in life eg;30s,40,50 etc and what is their star sign i am curious to know?
i'm a leo actually but the libra i know keeps her mood swings relatively under control because she is on medication. if she stops taking it, she either goes into mania and acts like she's under the influence of marijuana or a hallucinogen, or spirals into severe depression where she stops caring about anything. it depends on the severity of the event that triggers the stress.
the reason i wanted to know is i was wondering who has lived with all the symptons all their life not knowing it was actually bi-polar,and then diagnosed later in life. i was reading about the symptons mood swings bad temper one minute, nice as pie the next, promiscuity, lots of other things also ,fire signs are known for their tempers, sometimes i myself have been really nasty, then regret it,water signs have their ups and downs a lot i have my reasons for asking.
how do you deal with it, high seas? you say you have been labeled "functional" but are there times when it interferes? sorry if i'm getting too personal, you seem pretty open about it, but obviously you don't have to answer if you aren't comfortable.
i too have racing thoughts,it makes you feel like there is a maniac inside you, also racing thoughts while in bed preventing me from sleeping it doesnt happen so much now, but i have had womens problems that had to be regulated ,so it could be hormones, too much of certain ones .
I'm bi-polar and hate it! All it takes is the slightest stressfull thing and I flip one way or the other. In a weird way I am kind of in control of which way I flip, I usually choose depression, less destructive! I actually love being manic which is why it's so dangerous for me, depending on how long it lasts I have been known to spend thousands while having an episode, and unfortunately I had pretty shit friends at the time who instead of helping me get help sat around and milked it!
Doctor advised me to take a year out of work while I learned to deal with it, at first they thought it was just depression and put me on prozac which was a big mistake! So petrified after taking the prozac that i'm never touching another med again.
What I find amusing though is when I look back at my posts on DXP I can tell if I was manic, depressed or normal when I wrote them lol
Bi-polar disorder is under-reported. There are more bi-polar people in this country than is documented.
I'd say Cancers & Taurus are probably the signs that have the most bipolar people simply b/c they are very moody (so much so that it's not even normal). It's 1 thing to be moody b/c you actually have a reason, but to be perfectly fine 1 minute, only to snap on the world the next minute is NOT normal! If you're not PMS'ing there's no psychological reason for any woman/man to have extreme mood swings, UNLESS they are experience some kind of mental illness (or even depression).
Sorry to say it Cancers, but uh...when they list the symptoms of bi-polar disorder it kind of um, matches the "Negative Cancer traits" list also! I just find it highly conveinant that most Cancers act like those who are diagnosed with bi-polar disorder!
I've met a few people who were diagnosed with the disorder in their 30s & 40s. But it's mainly b/c they've at that point, suffered enough in their interpersonal relationships with others & they've finally realized that their conduct/psychological state was not "normal" or just "life." They may have never been diagnosed either b/c they never went to a psychiatrist OR they mistaked their bipolar symptoms as/for something else.
also was it diagnosed later in life eg;30s,40,50 etc and what is their star sign
i am curious to know?
