I know someone on the highest dosage allowed. She laughs all day at any and everything. It's kind of cute until you realize that the alternative was her crying at any and everything. Then its sad.
Depression is real. I use to think it was an attention seeking tactic. Try exercise.

I understand that depression is chemical imbalance but I think we can fix it by fixing certain beliefs and thoughts which lead to these episodes. It is a "plague" of modern society.

pills, booze, sex are just a quick fix
depression needs to be healed and to get to the root cause of it can take a while
i believe it is anger suppressed and turned inwards. what helped me was therapy, healing, lots of it

plenty of people i know in real life didnt understand why others got depressed, and thought the same thing. that it was for attention, and it isn't. Then they "caught" it too, because something happened in their lives, possibly deaths in the family, life changes, many suffer over job loss, ect, feeling as if you are not good enough ever, ect. When it happens to them, they could not believe it and it opened their eyes, and opened their compassion to others who have it.

Exactly. Grief particularly can overwhelm you to the point you just feel empty. I know.
Anyway the reason I asked is because my best friend has been prescribed antidepressants (we are both grieving the loss of a close friend - it will be one year next month) as she is not coping too well. I don't think it's prozac but something stronger - she told me but I can't remember the name. She's somewhat reluctant to start taking them though.click to expand
