I think it had potential but more weaving a lot of strange scientific speculation and myths into one big movie. If you haven't seen it I won't spoil it for you but yes imagine the trailer spanning out the entire length of the movie.
If you read up about how the human body works or science in general like I do the fact is this movie has no credibility but definite belongs in the 'fun to think about' section. I mean I like challenging set laws and existing models based on our current knowledge but sometimes it just goes too far.

The "theory" that we use only 10% of our brain's capacity is a fallacy that will never go away.

It looked like a merging (or revealing?) of the biological and spiritual-- or maybe where they meet.

Please-- elaborate.
Hey M!
I'm not sure how this got started, but it seems to have come into being with the start of the net. The net has certainly contributed to its perpetuation. You don't have to look too far to find scientists laughing at it. I heard an interview on NPR about this movie, and the neurologist they interviewed was pretty amused.
This sort of theory runs along the lines of a person's brain size determining intelligence, as in "A woman's brain is smaller than a man's, so they can't be as intelligent as a man."
In the utility world, we call this sort of nonsense "junk science."
But start a thread about women's brain size, and I guarantee you that at least one of our resident knuckle-draggers will endorse it.
It's a wonder we're not extinct as a species already.click to expand

I have to agree with others that's it's based on myth because we've made a lot of progress since the theory first arose. I don't always dismiss everything and yeah it is quite fun to think about from another perspective, just not the movie's perspective.
I see the movie as one of those dramatised documentaries on Discovery, much like ones where they predict what would happen if the world stop rotating around its axis. Where the movie fails is where it's trying to be scientifically correct yet going way overboard later on with imagination.
Comparing to Limitless, 'higher functions' can be explained and it has been proven stimulating our neural network and parts of the brain does provide some 'enhancement' when it comes to memory, reaction, senses etc. What Lucy is trying to achieve (to me) is that all our brains are able to comprehend EVERYTHING in the known universe once it reaches the supposed 100% mark and fails to address or how that relates to spirituality. If anything it hinted that maybe 'real knowledge and true wisdom' is to disappear entirely from the world or in some awkward scientific sense that our physical bodies can't handle it.
The movie just felt unfinished tbh, with no start and no ending, not sure if it's trying to be an art film or a super long documentary starring and narrated by the awesome Morgan Freeman.click to expand
