I have been out of work for a couple of months on medical and FMLA due to major surgery I just had. This was my first week back. While I was out, there was many changes in my organization, including the elimination of bosses position and a new higher position created. The company itself has been unstable since I started there. But I have stuck around for my boss (he was great), I got a nice healthy raise, and in the end for me to have my surgery instead of waiting another year. Back in September I started putting feelers out for another job. Went on 2 interviews and received an offer on 1. At the time, there was an open requisition for another person in my position. No one stays long. I am the senior person there when it comes to time and I have only been there not even two years. One person only lasted 3 months they hired and the other 1 month. When I got the offer, my boss asked what it would take to keep me, I told him it wasn't the job itself, it is very challenging and that is essential for me but the instability of the company and economic reasons it why I was leaving. So I asked for a 15% raise and got it. I told him I didn't want to also leave him with no one to do the job. If I left, there wouldn't be anyone to do what I do left. While I was out they did finally fill the vacant position (that I have been doing alone for pretty much a year). I do not have a good feeling about what is happening in the company right now and fearful of being laid off. Now that my boss is gone there is nothing tieing me to this job. My surgeon wanted me to Work from Home this week then start working 4-6 hrs a day for the next week. I never turned in my work modification since the last one because I am afraid it will only cause damage.
Sooo....I started applying for a new job last week. I got a call back for one already!! It was in the top two of what I have already applied for. I didn't think I would get a call back because I do not have the "years of experience" required. They want to interview me next week!! It would be a good move for me as it will give me exposure and experience I need to reach my goal of Business Manager. (I am pretty much one now, my position in it's capacity and resource is more a hybrid position) I am so excited. I am shopping this weekend for a new power suit and get my hair did. I have a 50% success rate in receiving offers since I entered this career field in 07 after I got my degree.

This is the third company I worked for since I entered this career field in 07. The second company I do not really count because I was laid off two months after I started working there due to company acquisition. I usually go on two interviews since 07 and have landed one. I am skilled in interviewing. I had another company contact me yesterday by finding my resume on line. Hopefully though, I get and offer on this job. They have an immediate need and I told the recruiter I only need one week notice. My boss who got let go already told me he would give me a letter of recommendation. It will be very helpful because he was a Director.
