Wow I can't believe the way some of you think. A life is gone-we only get one life. No matter what someone gave or didn't give to society, it doesn't discount her life to the ones who know her, the ones you loved her for who she was. She chose to live her life the way she did, but we aren't in any position to judge her.

I posted this actually out of shock and sadness. She just lost her son, she has a newborn baby, she is/was being sued by 3 entities. So much took a toll on her.

Anyway, sorry for posting the topic.

she sees other's deaths as insignificant because she hasn't dealt with her own father's death yet.

lol!

If you met me, you would find this funny.

I wasn't asking for sympathy at all. I won't be upset when my brother dies either. I don't think it is insensitive at all. I loved my dad, but it wasn't a big deal.

I say you should mourn life not death. Mourn the dumbing down of society. Mourn the illusions of disparity. Mourn that we live in a world ripe with abundance but accept the bones of lack. Mourn a society that puts the individual above the collective.

I don't see death as a terrible thing. I see a wasted life as a terrible thing.

When Noam Chomsky dies there should be a public outcry, but alas it is when Paris Hilton dies we will see real concern.

I am saying society as a whole should reexamine their values and question what we are doing.

Of course, I would like to believe that I believe the individual is unimportant. I have always felt this way. Respect the work not the artist.

I find living in a society where people watch *reality* on television instead of going out and embracing life, is such an odd commentary on society. It is like we all live in a bad mutated futuristic world where we are lulled to sleep by the stupid box so we can become coggs in the corporate wheel. It is almost Matrix like if you think about it.

This will upset everyone BUT I don't believe every life is worth mourning, especially mass mourning, especially this person. I don't expect a mass outpouring for myself either. I don't believe we are all special. I believe the belief that we are all special problematic.

I don't expect ANYONE to agree with this.

It is just stuff to think about.

you're certainly entitled to your opinions.

my views and opinions don't rotate around a notion that any particular person's life was insignificant just because they didn't make a "Good" name for themselves.

i celebrate my life; i don't mourn it....

i feel for the infant daughter of hers. instead of knowing her mother first-hand, she will now be brainwashed by articles and media exploiting her. sure, it was the life style that she chose, but that doesn't devalue her life on this Earth. the only way this little girl will know her mother is by what was written about her. we all have good sides and bad sides. we don't know how Anna would have raised her daughter and now neither will her daughter. 😢

thats some sensible stuff LS. but there is no point telling anyone. most are purely driven by society and media. They waste their life crying and worrying about people whom they dont know.

When Saddam was executed, the communist govt in my home state called for a days strike. Infact half of our population dont know saddam beyond his name and nationality. Quite funny world. wasting a precious life for nothing.

* my views and opinions don't rotate around a notion that any particular person's life was insignificant just because they didn't make a "Good" name for themselves.

Then live by this. When a child molester dies you should value his life and weep just the same as when this person dies.

I believe we are all saint and sinner. I believe we all have a dark side but shouldn't the value of a specific human life depends upon what you do with what you've been given?

As my best friend said, "With all of her family's money, power, and influence, think of all the good that Paris Hilton *could* be doing in the world, that she just doesn't fucking bother to do because she's too busy flashing her nasty sn**ch all over Manhattan... "

To much has been given, much is expected.

Ehhh .... What can I say?

I had a very don't drink the opium of the masses type of week. lol!

Another day I may have made another argument like she made her way in society the best way she could, on the shoulder's of our cultural values, but emotional pleas and emotional arguments generally don't hold weight with me. (Even had I made that argument I still would hold true to the base ideas that we should hold the value of any specific life dependent on what you do with it.)

My whole point is the individual does not matter. Respect the work not the individual.

If they were to die on the same day, I would hope we would weep more for one of the great free thinkers of our time, but we all know who would win that contest.

The media has become impotent and we are fed a diet of celebrity "news". We happily chew on the crumbs thrown to passify us but it is all just opium in disguise.

crumbs meaning these illusions that anyone can achieve obscene amounts of wealth, power, and status.

we are fed this steady stream of "celebrity" gossip because it keeps people hopeful that one day they can achieve this. It is pretty much bullshit. It stops people from thinking and truly achieving great things. It is more comfortable to watch other people (on television) engage with life than go out and do so ourselves. We are locked in by the power of discomfort. Discomfort keeps us from change.

(Anyway, these are all just random thoughts which, hopefully, will inspire your own random thoughts which will, hopefully, inspire other people's random thoughts. Random thinking will eventually lead to something great. 😉 )

Of course you can! That is the whole point.

The individual matters only as a tool of expression for our mass conciousness. We are all one. There is no seperateness of self from any other self. It is merely an illusion. We, as an individual, are not special or important. We can and will be replaced.

The moment that we stop seeing each other as different from ourselves things will change. (I struggle with this as well.)

On judgment

I also think the "who are you to judge" argument an odd one. We all judge each other all the time.

By saying who are you to judge, what we are really saying who are you to judge the individual's desire to live their life how they choose? What we are really saying is who are you to judge the individuals desire to stab someone thrity times? It is parallel logic yet in this parallel logic conflict on who we are exists.

The real question is why does society place the individual's need above the societal needs? Is this smart?
None of us are really individuals anyway so it is kind of a moot point but fun to play with.

Well, I am not a Feudist! lol!

I am pretty anti-Freud and anti-Bernays. In fact, I am rallying against "the manufacturing of consent" mindset. There was a fascinating documentary called the Century of Self done by the BBC. (I think you can get a feed on google videos. Not sure.)

If you think we are individuals, start looking around. I walked past a Billy Talent concert line-up a few days ago. Everyone was the same height! I am not kidding. It was crazy. They all looked alike. I commented to my roommate never has their ever been such a homogenous group of non-conformists.

People are pack animals.
