From what I read on this site libra men and cancer women don't seem to get along too well. Of course... from what I read here, libra men are also selfish, immature, liars and chaters so...yeah.
Anyway...
I don't really know much about this stuff.

My dad actually happens to be a Libra, and I think he's pretty cool. But that's coming from a daughter's point of view, so I'm biased aha. But I have had a couple of Libra friends, although not that great of ones.

I don't care what astrology says, but I think libra and cancer is a great match if you can break through the hot/cold nonsense a cancer does in the initial stages.
A lot of my libra male friends dated cancer chicks for a brief period. It would've been great if the libra guys were patient or tolerated the push pull routine of a cancer. I, myself, am terrible with that routine. My ex libra with aries moon was able to breakthrough that shell and he's been with that cancer sun and moon chick for like gazillion yrs now. See! There's hope Signed Up:

Water in Venus = turbulent and neurotic if things are bad. It's one of those "when it's good, it's great, and when it's bad it's awful" type of things.
I don't doubt the pairing CAN work, as there are always varying factors in play. But on paper, I have a hard time seeing these two work if the Cancer is one of the clingy, overly emotional types.
But like I said, that Aries moon may help keep all that in check if that is the case.Signed Up:

I gotta tease you here, but you gave ONE good example and then explained why the others didn't work. Not very promising, haha.
If the two can get their shit together, keep things open and honest, things should be fine, as would be for any relationship, really. But a Cancer dealing with Airy Libra being so floaty and aloof at times could drive them nuts. Just as Cancer being clingy and emotional and "hot/cold" as you said would suffocate a Libra and be overkill. That's why your Libra friends only dated them "briefly."
It really does boil down to the specific individuals.Signed Up:

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've seen people the emotional crab jokes before, we even joked about changing thier symbol here recently lol. Emotions don't scare me. I've had a couple cancer friends before and they seem alright.
She asked for my number yesterday and we talked and texted throughout the evening. I haven't stopped smiling.

For people like me who like details...
She works at the gas station I stop at almost every morning. I've been going there for a couple years now and she been working there a couple months. She grabbed my attention the first time I seen her. I regularly talk to the employees there, usually just quick pleasantries and small talk but you get a feel for people.
At first it's just smiles and good mornings. Then I start telling jokes and funny stories to see her smile. I noticed she had a ring on where you'd wear a wedding band so I always respected that boundary. Just conversations and laughing.
I had to run out somewhere on thanksgiving and my daughter wanted to stop and get hot chocolate. The cancer woman was there and I commented it sucked she had to work on the holiday and that her husband better at least bring her a warm meal. I caught her off guard and she was confused for a moment. Then said she was divorced, and that wasn't a wedding ring, just a ring. I must have smiled real big because she did too then giggled a bit.
I found myself hoping she was working when I'd go in. and now that she'd said she was single I started flirting openly. Some of you here prolly know I'm shy and reserved, so it wasn't anything dramatic or forward. My daughter and I went shopping the other day. My son asked to bring him home a hot chocolate. I had stopped in that morning already and knew she was there. When I came back, a coworker joked about wasn't I already there today. I said "yes, and when I saw she was here I found an excuse to come back."
She always has my cigarettes and wraps ready before I get to the counter. Her coworker rang me up the other day and when I said the brand I wanted, the cancer just handed them to my cashier. I said "she's so good to me, I'm gonna have to take her home".
That kind of stuff.
So yeah. That's how we met. Small talk at the gas station. Yesterday my daughter and I were leaving and the guy she was working with came out and said she wanted my number. He said that she thinks I'm "special". I said, she's pretty and she has great taste, Woo hoo. Then I wondered if he meant "gold star" special or "helmet" special.

2. One of my cousin: He always need a study body to motivate him or he is depressed (not study at all). He dropped classes when he was moody. The student loans is mounting. Mom & dad are not happy & can't talk to him, he sulk. I was ask to talk to him to help him. He ignored me months when I start talking some practical things.
3. One of my friend: Every time she has issues with BF, she wants to sleep over by my place, crying & bad mouthing him, next day goes back to him again like nothing happened. On and off, rinse and repeat. I stop answering her call cause it gets old after a while, plus I got annoyed if some one visits at last minutes every time.
Anyway, those are few details of my experience. And you are right: the libra carefree airy nature, some times it appears as cold and not understanding. On the flip site: heavy emotion expressions can be too much to handle for a libra (Keep it light & be practical for heaven sake kinna theng _???, libra like).
Good luck with this, maybe it's worth for the experience.
A cancer friend of mine kinda reminds me of these. She's nice enough and very giving, but holy crap she's needy as hell. There are times it's just like "fuck, would you get a damned grip on life? Do shit on your own already." She split with her leech of a boyfriend after a year or giving him chances. To cope, she went back into doing weed and then started tacking on other drugs to use. Always out drinking and partying. We all just kept an eye on her and put it off as post break up crap. Guess she's done this before, too. But I still couldn't help but think "get a fucking grip."
She also relies way too much on other people to keep her happy. She just cannot seem to handle doing anything alone, which is where the clingy/needy part comes in. She's always hitting up two of the guys to either hang out or do stuff for her because she's oh so helpless or some shit. I dunno. I think she's spent too much of her adult life providing for man children and is maybe learning to be an adult in her 30s now. *shrugs*
But yeah. NEEDY. And way too reliant on others.Signed Up:

I know you don't, and funnily enough that came to mind when I was speaking generally of what a lot of people experience with many Libra guys. "Well this is why, but I know he's not exactly like that so it doesn't really apply..."
When it comes to water signs, they're all highly emotional and it shows more, than say, with air signs. I've found that air and earth signs come off as emotionally distant and cold, even without realizing it or having that intent. When you have more emotionally expressive signs like fire or water, that can rub them the wrong way at times.
Also, you combine that Libra "logic" in regard to matters of the heart, that ish drives water signs nuts because they aren't exactly logical when it comes to things like that.Signed Up:

Yeah, in general I can be kind of cold and detached from the world at large. It helps me to process things. I feel tons of emotions I'm just pretty good at remembering I control them. That's all on a macro level. In personal relationships I'm very invested and interested. I just save it for people who mean something to me. And logic, yeah, that rules all. Ok I see how I could be aloof and airy haha.

Sugarfoot, except for the saying yes when you mean no...that all sounds good to me. I'm a pretty good communicator though, and I can read body language. If it's gonna be anything I'll find some kind of balance.
We talked on an off all day yesterday too. We're both single parents and her schedule changes around. Once she gets her schedule for next week we're talking about going out somewhere. I had a business dinner last night, she works tonight. I'm really enjoying talking to her. And already look forward to seeing her. No worries, nothing crazy yet, she's just cool.

She went to work at 2pm yesterday. We were texting all morning. My son was sick so I had left work early. I stopped by to say hi in person, got my coffee and went on home to my son. She had just gotten in and I'm not trying to harass her at work, so it was quick.
Shortly after I got home she texted that she hoped I was coming back to see her again. By that time I was preparing dinner. It was kind of like the inside of a chicken pot pie, served over rice. Made the gravy from Turkey drippings. Lots of veggies and potatoes. It was good. Anyway I was telling her what we were making and asked what she had taken for dinner. She said she hadn't brought anything and was just planning to grab something there. I said that was a perfect excuse to come see her again, and I took her a hot meal.
Haha, some of you have heard me talk about how sweet my daughter is. She was helping me cook. When I told her my friend had gone to work with no dinner and I was going to take her some, Megan "had to" join in. She rode with me (single parenting...sigh) to deliver the meal. She carried the dish in her lap and bragged how she had helped make everything.
The crab took a smoke break and we sat outside and talked for a few minutes, hugged, said goodbye. She was at work all evening but we still texted a lot.

I'm a Cancer with a Libra guy and we're totally smitten with each other. However the first Libra I dated broke my heart but even though it didn't work out, I loved the connection we had with each other and have always wanted to date another one. Over a decade later I finally met another Libra and I have no doubt we're meant to be together.
It also helps that he has a lot of Scorpio in his chart, moon & venus which makes him more fixed and not as airy/mutable as the average Libra.

So, it's been a week...
Maybe I really am a libra guy afterall. It's hard not to get carried away with myself. We still haven't stopped texting haha. We've talked on the phone and we've seen each other, but we have been texting constantly.
It doesn't feel overbearing or anything though. There's gaps, we both got other shit to do. But yeah.
So, I read people on hear talk about libras coming on too fast. Elaborate?

You're talking long term plans. Like way down the road.
Example- we'd only been seeing eachother a little less than a month when he brings up going out of the country the next year and how I should get my visa, implying that he'd take me with him.
It struck me as very odd and moving way too fast because we hadn't even declared exclusivity and he's already talking about taking me on trips with him that were 7 months away.
Another example-
Meets a friend's coworker. Chats her up a bit. The next day, sends her a dozen roses. I'm sure he thought it was a romantic gesture, but they'd only chatted a bit for half an hour.
Another one-
Barely with someone for a month. Puts her on his cell phone plan. Because... stupid. I dunno haha.
Or starts dating a chick, knocks her up, and moves her in the next day. Not sure how much of that was just thinking he was "doing the right thing" and him being a Libra, though.
Overall, they push faster than the usual pace of dating, talk long term only after a few dates/knowing the other briefly, etc.

Is this a difference between libra men and women?
Because for me at the start there will be some fantasy of what could be but there is the other side which constantly chatters away of why it couldn't be, wouldn't work and jesus christ have you seen the way he eats? Could you put up with that for the next 40 years?

Is this in reference to the question and comments about libra guys rushing, or the thread in general?
I don't think I'm too caught up in fantasy. I've definately had some. Part of the reason I have dated so little since my divorce is the critical side you're talking about. I'm pretty quick to rule someone out as long term potential.
I have to say this one hasn't sent up any of those big "you really wanna mess with that?" kind of flags. I'm consciously trying to keep my head on straight because I could see myself getting carried away with her haha.Signed Up:

So there's always a catch right...
So, she's been separated for like three years but technically still married. She says the ex husband was supposed to be "handling" the divorce, but never did. Several months ago she moved back with her mother and is finalizing it herself. She is currently waiting for her final court date.
However, with children and custody issues, the court appointed children's advocate issued a blanket statement "no romantic interests around the kids". She's living with family who are helping pay for the divorce and custody. Her mom takes it further than the court and basically told her no dating at all. Since she lives there and her mom is her mom...yeah
So I have asked her out...she isn't allowed lol.

So for now we're just talking a lot. I've gone to her work to have breaks with her. I stood at the counter and flirted with her before I had her number, I'll still do it now. Maybe it'll take a month to get the final court date, that's fine. Like I said before I ain't in no rush for anything.

Yeah, same here. I have a lot of water in my firey chart.
Water part gets all stupid and emo at times and the firey part tells it to calm the hell down. It can be sucky, but it does help keep those illogical bits in check.
Way to go, LS! Hope this one is more promising than the leeb.

I went to see her when I got off work yesterday. She took a break and we were outside talking for a little while. When she had to get back to work I pulled her in for a hug. I squeezed her a little and felt her loosen up. I just held her for a moment. I know she's shy but really likes me. I started to let go and was looking at her. She smiled so I took the edge of my finger and softly turned her chin up and towards me. She smiled so big I almost kissed her teeth instead of her lips lol. We kissed a few small kisses and I heard her go mmmm. She had to rush back into work or else she was gonna jump on me in the parking lot
I stopped by at the end of her shift to see her for a little bit more. While we were outside talking she stood close and I had my arm around her. I had my daughter with me and she had to get home to hers. I stole another kiss and we parted ways.
We talked til a little after 1am again. During last night's talks she asked what my birthday (sign) was. She commented that she has been drawn to libras before. I said I have had a cancer friend or two over the years but had never dated one. She replied that I could say I was dating one now unless it was too early for labels. I laughed and told her I'd be happy to label her my girlfriend.
My streak remains, I still didn't have to ask her to be my girlfriend lol...

I know quite a few Libra-Cancer couples all very close, the male is the Cancer in all these cases I know of. Its a wonderful match full of romance and deep love. Moon and Venus are great together Ive seen this combo repeatedly around me and its long lasting and stable with the female taking on the extraverted social role and the cancer male taking on the introverted support role with these dynamics.

And just to illustrate my point- you said you got her number on the 14th. It's now the 26th and you two are already exclusive. Hasn't even been 2 weeks. :p
Again, nothing wrong with it per se if you both are down. Just amuses me because it's so stereotypical of Libra guys sometimes haha.

What can I say haha, I'm libra to the core...five placements iirc.
So is being exclusive really that big a deal to most people? How many people you kissing in a normal week lol
Maybe it's because I got married straight out of high school...twice. But it's how I always did it. It always used to be a girlfriend would develop from a friend or friend of a friend thing. Someone you were around sometimes and would chit chat with. Then it turns into flirting and more talks. Then she wants to be my girlfriend ...ever since my first girlfriend.
I'm not sitting in classes anymore but I'm out and meet and talk to people all the time. I don't give most of them a second thought. I even had a dating profile online. I talked to a few people there but no one really caught my attention beyond a few conversations. Keep in mind people always open up to me real fast...like strangers telling me life stories at the checkout line of the grocery store fast...
This is not the only woman I've talked to, just the only one I still feel like calling. I realize I've only had her number two weeks now, but I got to that flirty stage back at Thanksgiving.
I can still count on my fingers the number of people I've had sex with. Saying I'm exclusive isn't saying much to me. I do see how that last statement could sound terrible, if so, try reading it again? Haha... I don't know. Signed Up:

I guess the point of all that was simply to say I'm not the type to date two or three women at the same time anyway. It doesn't appeal to me and it doesn't suit me. I may not be normal by any stretch of the imagination but I'm a fully functional and (mostly) stable adult.

I say I love you often to the people I do feel love for, to some people that's a big deal. The words are life or death to them. To me it's better I said it because I felt like saying it.

I think i would be scared to enter into girlfriend territory quickly. I mean what if you decide in a month that actually it is not going to work? then you have to summon up the courage to have the talk, feelings are upset, expectations overturned...
i entered into a relationship too soon i was much younger. it turned out badly. it scarred me for life. haha!

Isn't that what being boyfriend and girlfriend is about though? It's saying hey, I like you let's see if it's more than that. Sure it's possible in a month something happens, but that is true at any stage. It's not marriage, it's not even moving in together. It's just saying I like you enough to give this a chance and not be pursuing someone else.Signed Up:
