If I recall, there are a handful of people who are from Chicago that read the Libra board.
My fiance and I are coming for the Fourth of July holiday and would like to find out what sites we must absolutely tour while we're there. We plan on going to the Taste of Chicago, a White Sox game, Sear Towers, and Hancock Tower. Other than that, what else must we see in order to consider our visit fulfilled? We will be there 3 full days.
Thanks. I've been told that we really don't need to rent a car while there because almost everything we will tour are pretty located in a central location. your opinions?
The Water Tower Shops.....Michigan Mile of Course....Grand Lux Cafe....Lawry's...The J bar...Japanase in Navy Pier...Ed Debevic's...The mall where United Colors of Benetton is at (Someone help me out can't think of the name it's next to the virgin mega store) Don't go to Portillo's I really didnt like it...
I can also ask a friend of mine that lives there he works for Columbia music so I'm sure he knows all of the spots to go......nt sure where u like to go..
I will get a list for you. I know J bar does jazz not sure what day. And if I am not mistaken Rush st. has a few blues clubs...but I will find out for sure.
We have a Grand Lux here in Houston, so I'm looking for true Chicago originals. Anyone heard of Joe's Club? I think it's on West Weed Street....ha ha ....love that "Weed" Street.
No I live in Michigan.....down the road. I travel to Chicago quite a bit. I know they closed sinibar awhile ago....last time I went to that club was 2003. I rarely sleep in Chicago.
What is that breakfast place everyone goes too...the one in the warehouse district.
I say try GreekTown, it is not too far from SearsTower. If you want some good cheap greasy burger/polish sausage...try Maxwells. Little Italy is right around the corner too. Chinatown, if you're into chinese food is a train ride away.
You can pretty much find good food everywhere. If you want fancy food such as Gibson, known for their steak..u can go to the Magnificent Mile, which is also a famous tourist spot.
Michigigan Avenue to go shopping, Water Tower Mall and there is a lot of other fancy stores right around it.
I see that this thread is like 11 days old...Houston you've got some great suggestions! I just wanted to add my two pennies...LOL! When you're through partying and and it's like 3 and 4 in the morning and you're starving and want something good to eat...Check out Tempo Cafe @ 6 E. Chestnut...They have the BEST omelets!
