So I've decided that it is well past time for me to get out again and start meeting new people. I just don't know where to go or how to do it. Most of the people I know are ones that I have known for years and they are 1600 miles away. Once I get home I know it'll be back to normal and I'll have lots of people around anytime I want, but here, in this city... I'm lost.

I know the question sounds silly, you just go out and meet people but... where do YOU go?

You know, I thought about a club or something but it isn't for me. I use my hobbies as my down time. I enjoy reading and painting but I don't want other people around when I'm doing it, haha.

I used to meet a lot of people through friends. I worked in an auto shop and we partied all the time. There were always new people around. It's kind of weird but I don't like most people, everyone seems to like me though.

Maybe I am just getting home sick. I really can't wait to go home to MD.

volunteering is a good one. i actually met people through a hiking club i joined online lol but mostly we just hike! i also met some really nice friends through random classes (like astronomy and astronomy labs) i take at the local junior college. they arent all 19 years either.

its funny because i want more girl friends to go out with since all of my besties live far away and i always feel like it would be weird for me to try to chat up random girls and ask for their phone numbers. i think it would be easier for guys to make friends with other random dudes!

There's no particular place to meet people I found, when i moved countries 4 years ago I had no friends of my own just hung out with family and their friends til I realised that it wasn't enough for me.

I had to turn on my receptive friendly nature and put myself out there a little more than usual. So now I chat to everyone whereever I may be, whether it's in the local grocery store talking to the assistant or shops or gym or coffee shop or petrol station etc. I just chat away and soon enough I found friends all over the place, alot of people are willing to chat while they are working or doing stuff you are doing and singles are more open and receptive to swapping numbers and hanging out etc...sometimes you have to be the one to initiate the convo but it is really easy especially for a Libra 🙂

Good luck Sid, break out of your shell 😛

marches, liquor store, church, the pen..

Nice!

I'll go to hell for saying this but isn't that like me telling a buddy to find a chic at the abortion clinic, at least he knows she'll put out and he won't be paying child support.

Thank you all for the input though.

What a completely sexist and inappropriate thing to say.

Fair enough. 🙂

I usually meet people through interests like comedy writing, video production, blah blah. Because my time for such things is very limited at the moment, I have tried online. It is a good way to meet a lot of people in a short time but I am finding a lot of the people on there are pretty damaged but have met some great people even if they weren't the one for me. A number of friends have met their partner (husband/wife) online. I think it is the most common way to meet now.
